Well, I just found out that the opteron 170 UPMW 0550 I am getting shipped to me is of the 434 flavor and since I am on water I cant wait!!
I hope yours will clock like mad too, I just tried to dual prime mine at 3.0Ghz @1.30v with the IHS still on....what a wishful thinking, worth a try though.....hehe, I can bench but the system rebooted during dual prime :p: I'm not even sure if I should bother to take the IHS off now, please post back some results after you got yours man :DQuote:

I've clocked to 280 HTT, 2.52 GHz, after that it started to get Super-PI errors, but that's default Voltage, XP-90 air and perhaps RAM limited. Will continue soon.

Trust me....I certainly will, infact....it's being dual priming at 3.10Ghz @1.45v at the moment, still working on it :D I just wish I have one more multiplier or better memory sticks as my 2GB Redline is only good up to 258 and not a single mhz higher even if I use 2T, not much option(even 9x or 9.5x multiplier) to push for 3.20Ghz at the moment but I'll try to get around the memory limitation till I get higher clock sticks, how about some teaser for now? :p:Quote:

If it couldn't even get to 2.8ghz, then $80 opportunity down the drain kind of sucks... but then again, I'd be in the same place I was a week ago...
What do you guys think?
the few 0550 UPMW I have seen in 165 flavor hit 2.7 ok but ?? not as likely to hit 2.8 as the 170 0550 UPMWQuote:

BTW you vcore of 1.55v is what you chip is getting...at idle you are getting 1.55v , the DFI mobo at load is overvolting 0.025-0.05v...

the 1.5v that is reported by bios or xp is wrong
neal is right, even if you get the same stepping but 165 binned lower than 170 so technically it probably would clock lower than what you see on some of these 170, your mileage may vary especially when it comes to overclocking so you won't know for sure till you try it.

I have two processors on the way and I'll choose whichever clocks better. The first one is Opteron 165 0546 SPMW, and the second one is Opteron 170 0550 UPMW. But I don't know their batch numbers. Of course I'll see the results when the cpu's come but can I get a prior opinion from you guys about which of them would be better according to your experiences. If it clocks nearly the same I'll choose the 165 but if 170 overclocks way better than I'll definitely go for it. I'll use the cpu's with Vapochill LS. So do you have a guess?

This puppy is getting better and better...but I really need some better memory, anything above 3.10Ghz I'm forced to use 100 mem divider, my 2GB Redline won't do over 258 and for whatever reason 133 and 140 mem divider are no go for this chip, memory bandwidth at 100 divider really sucks hardcore but hey, atleast it can do this and then some :D

So far the overclock speed and vcore increment ratio is very linear and the ceiling of this chip is pretty high, at one point the PWMIC also skyrocket to as much as 70C' during dual prime at 3.20Ghz :lol:
