Unless there's smoke or a noise, it's difficult to know that the CPU was just killed. I'm sure he just thought that he forgot to attach something, or maybe it wasn't compatible with one cpu for some weird reason. I probably would have tried another CPU too if I couldn't figure it out. I feel bad for AMD, because they're having to deal with RMA's that weren't their fault. I know people send stuff in because they overvolt/forget to put paste on, but in this case I'm sure Onepagebook is not to blame, and DFI is. DFI should pick up the tab here. I hope for DFI that this is just an isolated incident. I'm sure they are not happy at the moment since a lot of people are not going to buy their boards now because of this, and the crossfire problems.
from what i can tell, they are in OPB's case ;)Quote:

Well, luckily I didn't hear the high pitched sound from my board, so that's a confidence booster. :) Tonight the watercooling is being tested, and hopefully tomorrow is the build

That board in the pic is not the Expert (right????) My Expert board does not have a 4 pin molex plug and my memory slots are on the side of the cpu not top

But if i plug in a brand new board, and try to boot it at stock speeds, and it melts my CPU, I would have every right to be pissed off, especially if DFI does not replace the board AND the CPU.
Now my Expert is running very happily at the moment, but I did take my good CPU out, and put in a crappy one... just in case....
:shock2: HOLY CRAP!! Did you ever figure out what caused that? :shock2:Quote:

Funny how people forget the issues the SLI-DR had when it was new. (Most people would agree it is a great board now...just not perfect. ;) ) I hope the issues with the RDX200 and Xpert are just teething issues..... very expensive teething issue for some. :(
The copper in that chip makes it look like its still glowing red.
Awesome, and at the same time scary.
OK so before you actually stick it the CPU you are saying to just plug in the PSU and give PSU power without powering on the motherboard correct?,,,,,,,,,,,getting my mobo in a few days...would be a shame if my dual core Opteron blew upQuote:

I think I will wait atleast a couple weeks just to make sure I don't risk my Pride in it...
wow that sucks, maby i should hold off on that board
I have a very poorly clocking 3700+ that is perfect for the job of guinea pig, if it survives then it will go into a computer I make for my gf, if not, oh wellQuote:

What's going on?
Also, which is faster Tcl 1.0 or 2.0?
I heard about Oskar told me, cas1.5 will be real but not for cas 1.0
cas 1.5 is unreal for old nf4 series, it's way slower than 2.0;)
but the fact that a defective board shipped out that killed two cpu's worries me.Quote:

OPB, did you buy that board or was it a DFI sample sent to you?
Still trying to figure out what Monarch is shipping and the relation to your experience.
So they are making CPU cores out of Plutonium these days?... keep your potasium iodide handy people!!!
Yes I'll be doing CES:) I'll be at the Flamingo starting on the 4th, I'll be in Vegas until I run out of money:DQuote:
