Of course they are cherries, and all those ATi engineers are only just there to give them coffee, not helping them to do mods and so? You`re a PR dude, of course you won't tell us they are cherries.Quote:

It should be 14893 based on the sell sheets. but i find it weird that the sell sheets are 125% above 7800GTX for the X1800XT. my original thoughts were 12963 singlecard, but i have raised that score regardless of what you have said becasue of the sell sheets. :rolleyes:Quote:

"Shader model 3.0 DONE RIGHT" it says, what do they refer to then ?
I hope this is also belongs to RV515 chips. Those X1600XT 256 MB looks fantastic :slobber:Quote:

Please let me clarify few things:
ATI invited around 90 of European, Middle east and Russian press to Ibiza for briefings and benchmarking. I've been running the largest hardware and overclocking site in Finland called Muropaketti (http://www.muropaketti.com) now over six years and I deal with different manufacturers daily (including ATI and NVIDIA). One of our strength is that me and my friend Kamu have also been doing quite well in overclocking scene so while other editors were running normal benchmarks at Ibiza I got a chance to play some overclocking with macci (who was also invited to Ibiza but only for overclocking because he is not an editor. Just like he was invited to Toronto just before the Crossfire announcement).Quote:

Then the most important thing: so far (for me) there is no money involved to this (neither with NVIDIA).... samples yes (just like all other press and some overclockers in the world).
I'm more than happy to answer R520 related overclocking questions as soon as NDA lifts.
You can expect some overclocked numbers from me hopefully on Thursday together with full review of R5xx series (in Finnish)

What`s the price ? Brand new X1800XT with yours and Macci`s signs on it ? :DQuote:

I thought that '03 was the most GPU dependent of the three?Quote:

It's not cheating, it's just bussiness.

Not true...

Cherry picking to me means that someone rounds up a bunch of the highest speed bin parts, runs them to the limit and then selects the best one to use. This did not happen for sure. Unless someone has a different meaning for cherry picking, then the cards were not cherry picked.
The fact that I was able to take a random card and get higher clocks with much less temperature only proves this.
If Macci + Sampsa did have a cherry picked card and ran it with LN2 they should be getting unmatchable overclocks...which they obviously aren't. :)

Thanks
So it's true because you say so?Quote:

But I don't know why Sampsa would be lying.
What's better than LN2?Quote:

average overclocks for me have always been around 10% for cards..MSI kinda made this as a rule with thier cards, and lots of companies seem to follow suit.
I bought a few x850xtpe cards, and each clocked better or the same as what reviewer's posted on sites for the same cards, so regardless of some little "handpicking", there is no real thing as cherry-picked. Quite frankly, i'm sure that ANY card is about the same for overclocking, had the solder joints and placement of SMD's everywhere been all the same.
You can be sure that Macci got a handpicked card...but i don't think it would be a "top-clocker" in the sense most are thinking...i'm pretty sure the design team for the card got those.
Sampsa, although no money exchanged hands, getting your hands on hardware before release, nevermind for free, is worth far more than anyone can pay me. Any true overclocker would say the same, and you know it. Money is not the point...it's the favortism afforded by such luxuries.
I am probably one of the biggest ATI fanboys there is, but yet, i have 2 nVidia cards in my system becaseu they are the fastest thing i can buy, because i'm an overclocker first....meanwhile you got faster for free. No matter how hard you try, you cannot downplay ANY of that to ANY of US. I love seeing your results, as i do Macci's, but as it has already been said, because you don't pay...we don't care if you play. At least i don't.
Don't take that the wrong way tho, because i'd LOVE to be in your shoes. It's actually good to see your hard work pay off for you, and more importantly, ATI recognizing it. :toast:
