OCZ PC4000 EB Platinum.....Initial Testing

corsair xms4400pro and xms3500llpro use infineon ce-5 (or so what they told me). could be ce-6 but i couldnt really take off those big heatspreaders without destroying it. im a bit clumsy. from the recent testing i've done, they dont provide results like these plat 4000eb. so infineon should be out of the question. it reaches similar overclock but is far from stable.

micron is too expensive. uccc is too expensive too. it also wouldnt make much sense when their gold 4000 is uccc.

my sample should be here tomorrow. then i will find out what these suckers use. sorry that im going to report it tony. it'll be mentioned in my review anyway. that is if i can find out what they are. just please tell me they dont come with 4 dots on the IC... that would be a PITA to find out

6-2-3-2.5 ddr496 2.7v max for my set

You guys will probably need cas3 to shoot over ddr500, I do ddr500 here with 3-3-2 5 timings at 2.6v easy

Any particular reason no body has tried these at 3-3-3-8 above 280mhz? Do they just have a wall at 280 or something?

2 x 1GB seem to be a huge load on the memory controllers. We've seen some consistent issues with certain cores so far and I've moved back to my venice for further investigation.

Is there a good reason why this is cheaper than the Gold 2x 1GB?

some will run a lot higher than 280 and get a pi run and sandra, the issue is they run games etc a little lower than the pi and sandra max, this is due to controller load.

So instead of showing max screenies with no games i asked all testers to show benchable games max so you all get a realistic view of the dimms perform.

Hey Tony what DFI BIOS do you recommend for these sticks? I should have mine today :)

Im using orange. Using all auto settings but had to force tras to 8, defaulted to 7. Im able to use cas 2.5 @ 250 through about 255 using 2.6v dimm


What core CPU do you have? I have found with my SD I max at 260mhz, my Venice maxes at 267 Mhz - those are GAME STABLE THOUGH. I can run the memory upwards of 280 Mhz, memtest and Super PI stable however. These sticks are not game stable as far as they test stable due to memory controller issues with certain cores.

Venice core, so are all of your settings @ auto?

yes but that gets me tras of 7, however these modules are plug and play - just set all to auto and go if you want to. No need to change timings unless you really want to.

ok just got a little surprise from the Fed EX man today. I just wanted to post up my quick maxes.

So far I am at 280 3-3-2-7-1t 2.7v passing super pi 1m and memtest test #5.

3dMark05 passes at 270 3-3-2-7-1t 2.7v

I haven't tweaked setting or anything just yet. I am just using whatever was set after cmos reset when throwing these babies in. My wife is calling me for dinner but i'll get some more time testing these tonight. Will try different timings and volts then.

LikwidKool....lower your TRC man! It should be Trp + Tras....

Should speed things up a bit....lower your Trfc as well. In fact, your alpha timings are all really loose--Auto I'm guessing?

Good to see 280 1M stable so far, CE-6 seems to be quite good when binned ;)

I thought a trc of 12 was good;)

oh yeah. I need to tighten up a lot on some settings. I only changed cas,trcd,trp,tras, and command rate. I just wanted to post up some quick numbers at what set after a cmos reset.

Hey, try 3d benching, ie 3dmark, or gaming. I can do 280 @ 2.6 in memtest and Super PI 32 - but cannot benchmark in 3d higher than 260 with a San Diego and 267 mhz with a venice.

Also lemme know if you have problems once you tighten things up.

What you guys could really try is "Memtest for Windows" and do at least 500% error-free with Task Manager window open (to see how much mem it tests). It should test all available memory or at least 1.5GB... Would you guys like to give it a go?
