I hope everyone will post results here as I know most went through this thread. I especially would like to see some water cooling results. :slobber:
i'm hoping to talk my parents into getting me a waterblock for my b-day, so i might have it under water by the end of the month :toast:
Also try to convince them into buying you a peltier and a dedicated peltier power supply to go along with that H2O block. ;)
haha, at that rate i should just get one of pc ice's custom phase units.. i was actually seriously considering it, but i don't have $500 to spend on something like that :(
ozzi, conrad, fr0stedflakes, xenolith, saaya...
you guys mind letting me know if these CPUs have allowed you to gain MHz on your RAM over your last 754 setup... or even over older 939 setups.
i dont hav money to burn... but if these badboys let me max my RAM out more it'd be a perfect upgrade, more RAMHz & CPUMHz :toast:
It's been a long time since I've played with a 754 chip. And when I was playing with 754, I had 2x256MB of G.Skill and 2x512MB of OCZ Platinum Revision 2. I still have the Platinums somewhere, but the G.Skills went to my sister-in-law. I doubt I even have any of my old screenies, but I'll look. ;)
for me, i have a higher top end with two sticks in, but the memory controller on my old clawhammer was the pants :stick:Quote:

FYI
Spotted Newark 3400+ and 3700+ for $241 and $353 at SHENTECH.com (NY, USA). Have never dealt with them before.
where did you see that? i just went digging through the site without any luck :(
Oops! I think Shentech has just put them in the "out-of-stock mobile CPU" section.

looks like it's in stock, but more expensive than getting it from vandi
LOL why is it under: Out of Stock - Mobile CPUs
But then says: Availability: Usually ships the same business day.
????
If I got them for free I would! :DQuote:

Atleast you know for sure that you're going to get 2.4GHz. :DQuote:

Very true, gotta look at the glass as half-full, not half-empty. :D
i'll be impressed if one of the ones you set out to the other guys does.. takes me about 1.52v for 2.8ghz 100% stableQuote:

I just picked up my 3700+ from the post office. :D chilly1 told me he'll be shipping my coolers on Monday. I should also be receiving my Thermalright XP-90C to use with my old 92mm Vantec Tornado by Tuesday. I'll push the voltage as far as possible for both air-cooling and phase change-cooling, but I still doubt I can obtain the same results as ozzimark when it comes to air. That's just some insanely cold air in your neighborhood. It's 84-degrees in my neck of the woods as I'm typing this.
glad to hear it came in. just in case you're curious, it seems that i top out just over 3ghz with normal air, but stable goes down to ~2.8ghz, i'll do more warm air stability testing so we can directly compare next week when i go home :p: :(
(however, that xp-90c should own my zalman :toast: )
also, a word for the wise, my cpu doesn't like >1.65v, i'm assuming because of temps
I'm currently mixing a special blend of magic pixie and leprechaun dust to be sprinkled on my processor. A few vow prayers every night until I assemble my system should also condition and prepare my processor in it's journey to The Zone. :D
With regard to the voltage, it doesn't surprise me that 1.65V would be the maximum for standard air-cooling. Needless to say, your clocks are still awesome.
