I guess the Prometia(Mach 1) P4 cooling unit won't fit around that socket? Seems that those caps are very close to the socket.

on ln2, 3.3ghz, got 25 seconds...

I will fire up in a few hours, I want 23 or 22 second super pi unpatched.

Memesama's 23 seconds I am guessing is a patched, I have 2K to load and see if it helps.

There is a patch available that is optimized for Prescott processors. This patch will drop about 2 seconds off the time compared to a unpatched version at 5.5Ghz

Nah...is the new (unofficial I think) Prescott Patch that utilizes Prescott's new instructions...

The "patch" is a "optimaization" much like what we have in 3dmark, alas many consider it a cheat. It's for prescott only AFAIK and a very bad thing for the benching community.

Tell me why the new patch is a cheat???

Isnt it just a patch that utilizes the new instructions and stuff that the prescott has???

Thats like saying that when ATI optimizes the drivers for X800XT core then they cheat?

Or that its cheat when you use a 64Bit OS and 64bit superpi???

Its just an advantage the CPU has... I think its fine...
