I havn't seen any benches showing this, but I know that saaya looks at benches and comes here and tells us what he sees, while you come here and say 'no it dosn't because x800 pro's can be oc'd to x800 xt's'.Quote:

You have no idea how much steam I can burn on that baseless generalization of my posts. Thats not what were saying at all. An x800 kicks a 4200's ass. But everyone knows that ati 'sucks' at opengl. In some benches (according to saaya, I havn't seen any, but I havn't looked, and I trust him) the 4200 performs just as good or better than an x800. He stated that and to counter what he said you reply basically saying, 'no, your wrong, a x800 is so much better than a 4200 and it can be overclocked to a xt'. You completely avoid the point. We are not trying to say x800's are bad, they are very good cards. I personally don't see a reason to get a x800 pro over a gt unless it can be modded into an xt though do to the lack of the 4 pipelines but they are all very good cards. However in every opengl game I've seen, any nvidia card woops the competing ati card. Can you prove me otherwise?

A GF4 Ti will not even remotely come close to an X800 Pro in Windows OGL benches. Neither will an FX5950.
The one and only instance I can think of where a GF4 can beat an X800 card with OGL is in Linux, and not many people here use that for a Gaming OS.
X800 Pro is a fine card. So is an X800XT. Theyre untouchable for synthetic benchmarks, and while sure you dont 'play' them, its fun as hell to compete. I mean XS wouldn't exist if that werent true.
Its just that in real games, the picture is closer.

yeah, ur right. Thats why I stated that, so I wouldn't sound foolish if I was proved wrong. Anyway, getting back to SLI... Is there any reason to believe that SLI will run better on the 775 platform because of Intel's DDR2 support or will there be no difference ??
I dont think there will be a diff I mean current agp cards are the same so no reason for PCI-e to be different
For gaming I would buy an X800XT PE at present if I had loads of money because I tend to play Far Cry. However I will play RTCW2 or SOF4 if these come out and so maybe then I would like a nice nvidia. I dont think nvidia or Ati suck at present you just have to get the card which suits which games you are more likely to play. At present my 6800nu is OK.
Anyhow getting back to the point on whether SLI will run better on 775 or AMD chipsets. To be honest perkham I think the question might be more along the lines of which cpu will be able to keep up and therefore the new FX55 looks to be a lot better than the Intel ones. The Intel Prescott with 2MB L2 cache and 1066 MHz FSB looks like it might be good, but people are saying Q2 2005 now .... Father Christmas will not wait that long to deliver !
Another of my worries on SLi is that the 6600GT will not have enough memory bandwidth or amount of memory to work well in an SLi configuration. I bet all of nvidia's press review samples are the 6800 series. Perhaps rather than 80% improvement for 6800 there is only a 40% improvement for 6600GT and that at lower resolutions. I get the feeling that 2 6600GT's in SLI mode bought by someone to be faster than a single 6800 will be more like wishful thinking, especially in higher resolutions and AA/AF.
But I maybe wrong.
