You made some good efforts and produced some good BIOSes. I am using your 5-05 modded 24/7 and it has no issues at all. :toast:

No need for you to feel responsible for noobz who flashed without using a backup device.

I believe that anyone who flashed and killed their board with ANY of the alpha/beta/modded BIOSes has no one to blame but themselves.
There are more than enough warnings everywhere telling these people to get a BIOS saviour etc., so anyone that is just 'feeling lucky' and
not using a back up device is just gambling on the result - and the reality of such a gamble is that you might have a no-boot system on
your hands.

Too many people get carried away with these and overlook the fact that most likely none of these BIOSes will be MAGIC and give them
250+ FSB when they could barely hit 240 with all others.

As a side note, IMVHO the comparison between two modded BIOSes is almost completely useless to other people, as diff system configurations
will produce diff results. All this will do is cause more noobz to flash - "Look ma, THIS one is 3Dmarks faster I may as well flash, THIS would
never cause problems!"

If these don't work - tough luck, hot flash, use backup device etc., don't blame the modder.

Try "jumperless" if u got no slave.

tried all combinations. without jumper and set in bios to auto and cycled through chs to last jumper on the physical drive

I wish I had sat down and did the same bios modding job it sounds like fun. I agree that in my experience performance doesn't really change, and the benchmarks are probably in the margin of error of tests. For me most bioses perform the same, in terms of performance and overclockablility, apart (oddly) from 5/5 and 4/29 (I skipped the alpha bioses). I believe they were originally tweaked for hynix d-43 ram found on corsair pc4000.

The advantage for me with the modded bioses is that I get the cold boot issue resolved and the overclockability I find in every other bios. The worst bios for cold boot, warm boot issues is the only official infinity bios 11/27.

Have u tried using the wd as master with the 10Gb as slave with the above combinations of jumpers as set out in the wd webpage? Also the master should probably be on the end of the cable, but try the other way round too.

This will take quite a bit of time if u test every possible combination of setting and cable position!

I hope my 120gb WD doesnt give me crap when I switch it over to the nVidia HDD controller instead of the PCI Maxtor IDE/SATA card i'm using (not enough ide ports on the mobo ;) )

Your absolutely right about it being pointless, especially that my intention all along was aimed towards stability and not 3DMarks. But the comparison that Megatron did was also invalid in that he compared my 5/5 BIOS with the 1/21 ROMSIP to EvilouS' 4/29 BIOS with an unknown ROMSIP called "SPC". Now I already said that this "SPC ROMSIP" might contain tables from an ABIT NF7-S BIOS but it in no way shape or form is it "1/21 based". Interestingly enough, EvilouS hints that this ROMSIP might be "tuned for performance" as he wants to know what kind of OC people can get. If it is, in fact, supposed to be a "performance ROMSIP", it barely beats the 1/21 in 3DMarks and equal in SANDRA mem. The 12/18 or 1/31 ROMSIPS should outperform his "SPC ROMSIP" with ease.

Infinity 131 vs. evilous LPB 429-12/18, the 429 was faster for me, and infinately more stable so far.

I still think someone should try running their nF7, 8rda+, or maybe even a7n8x with an infinity/lpb bios...

it will either boot and work, or just wont post at all. it shouldnt hurt anything at all. if i had a bios i would try just for fun lol.

Out of curiosity, what problems were you having with Oskar's original 4/29 that made you flash to EvilouS' 429 C18?

Just so you know, the way 1/31 is coded (tigher timings at the 200MHZ ROMSIP table), it should technically outperform the 12/18. I have the same problem in that my config doesn't agree with 1/31, but it was always faster than 1/21 or 12/18 (these two have nearly identical ROMSIPs, BTW). But these DFI mobos are so totally unpredictable and picky.

Tictac and the Abit BIOS modders are essentially doing this as they are taking the 12/18 ROMSIP and inserting into their tweaked AN7 and NF7 BIOSes.

i have, when i was at 255x9 2-2-2-2-11-13-15 it was like 3900 mbps, but when efficency was around 84 or 85 i think...:(

i am using the evilous i429-121 now, but still the same results. i run my pc at the same speeds and i think settings as those in the comparison pics. but my score are like 3570/3247 in sisoft at 240 fsb and at 2,2,2,2,11:help:

as for the BIOS, I stick with 1-31. based on my observations the 1-31 seems to be the fastest. 4000+mb/sec @ only 254fsb. and best 3dmark score. :)

i don't know if i'll be that much of help but.. i have everything enabled in terms of memory intensive settings like 2-2-2-2-13-15, CPU aggressive interface, CPC enabled, APIC enabled, on a plain 1-31 bios, no modded.

Also the main thing to consider is the memory being able to handle not only the FSBs but the 'intensity" of the memory settings. :)

AdvModDev: I have Read the whole tread, but it feels like too much to get someting out of it.. My question for you is which 505-RS121 bios is best for OC & without loosing Sound/USB (just i don't loose GBlan, the 10/100 card i have disabled). I mean that there are different versions, 6T version 10T version and so on.. which of them is best? based on the reports you've got.
Would be glad for some help there, Thanx.

TROMOTO'S HALT FIX

I know some of you guys wanted the HALT fix inserted into the BIOS to avoid having to use WPCREDIT/SET or 8RDAVCORE. So here is Tromoto's patch for anyone who wants it.

This version of the patch will change 6C to 1F01FF01. NV actually recommends using 9F01FF01 for the C18D but "1F" also works. I've tested both values and find that 1F actually works better in that load temps were consistenly 2C less with all other variables held constant. Idle temps were the same with both values.

The NV NIC module was used for the patch code for convenience. So if you have NV Ethernet disabled, then the patch won't execute of course. But Tromoto is working on a Realtec patch as well for those LPB owners that don't want to use NV.

CBROM215 will work with all of Oskar's Betas and Alphas for insertion.

Command per clock, like Command rate on via's, on = 1T, off = 2T.

At Adv:

I use 6F = 9F and 6E = 01 with wpcredit... it's what's in the thread over at AMDMB. It works better for me, more stable and the 1F setting is actually set by every bios :confused: This is the setting which caused the weird noises many users reported. 9F makes it go away ;)

And I could up the clocks more stably in windows...
