I've been reading this post and for the lucky users with this new prescott I would like to know if every one of this CPU's has the same OC capacity?
In a few words, if I buy my cpu in Portugal could I have the same speeds Macci got over a cascade system?!

Got a Prescott 2,4a today to try on my P4C800E DL and my R404a Promy
Went up to 1,6 V and 4,15 ghz without any problems. Got 33 sec spi.
Decided to increase voltage to 1,625V and got a lot of smoke and a dead board:mad: :mad:
Visually I can't see anything wrong in the board and in the cpu.
Anybody with a similar problem or know what the problem is?
I have a friend also with this chip and a P4C800 which won't boot above 1,6V.
I'm very frustated

Lo dudes, putting mine in tommorow. Gonna test it in the AI7 first, then if that doesn't like it swap over to the P4P800 Deluxe (will I need to re-format?)
Think I can get 200FSB 1:1 on the stock cooler?

The P4C800 wont POST if Vcore is set above 1.6V from the BIOS w/ Prescott chip. If you wish to go above 1.6 I suggest that you A) install some good cooling for Vcore mosfets b) do the the Vcore mod and Vdroop mod too.

Theres a review of the 2.4A over at HardOCP . They love it. On a Koolance Exos they got 3.7ghz stable.
Macci: got my 2.4A today..
Iam having 2 problems.
A: when I boot up at 200mhz FSB and raise it in windows the agp speed follows...
B: I cant get the vcore higher than 1.7v...
I need the vcore mod.. URL?
btw: Macci, do you hang out on a IRC channel? I need an answer..... hehe
Macci, thanks for your clarifications. Have one doubt: is there a vcore mod for the P4C800? I only know the droop mod......

After testing, the board is really dead but cpu is ok.
I have tested on air, stock cooler, on another P4C800 and got 3650 mhz at 1,5V benchable for SPI. Temp: 60C.
Someone post some sandra cpu test!!

Lets just say my 2.4c @ 3.3 is faster than a Prescott at 3.8...
Think I can run this chip @ 200fsb on stock cooler 24/7?

So the 4ghz doesn't really mean anything? And this thing is really slower? How could that be 1mb L2 and 4ghz... Would my 2.44ghz mobile 2400+ beat this thing?Quote:

my Prescott 2.4A @ 3.4Ghz (189mhz FSB 1:1 2-2-2-6) is better than my 2.4C @ 3.2 (267mhz FSB 5:4 2-2-2-6)... in UT2k4. the game runs smoother now.
Yeah I was only talking about Sandra.
They seem to do really poorly there :p:

What about head to head in 3dmark? How much of a difference did it make in ut? ut2k4 demo is sweet, and until hl2 comes out I will probably only play that and probably bf:v.
