Is it the original XP with no service pack? I think you need XP/SP1 at least

I have 3 different versions, one sp2 and 2xsp3

are you accidently still using ACHI? cuz you need IDE to install XP.

Windows XP/SP3 should work as there are XP drivers on the Asus homepage for this board :shrug:

Got sorted thanks guy's. My dvd rom drive was at fault, changed to another and no problem with xp.

Had another problem, could not get sata 6g raid to work, the board did not recognize both of my ssd 6g drives, changed the positions of the cables to the two center slots and now raid is all working.

hi, can OC profiles be saved to a flash drive etc, or only to the board?

I had to slipstream the IDE drivers into my XP install to get XP to install. BSOD otherwise.

I had 2 dvd drives that don't work for installs..but ok for normal use.

a little bit OT, I know, but I consider this thread to be "my home".
plus.. all the legends regularly visit this one ^^
if this is in the inappropriate place, my apologies, please move this post.

In DICE OC, and for CPU benches *only*, what is better in memory - slow speed and super tight CL or high speed and looser CL timing.
in short - what is better - 800MHz CL5, or 2600MHz CL11.

Any chance they are Sony? The Sony drives I have used were extremely picky with the smallest smudge or scratch. I finally stopped using them.

Im trying to figure this out also. I havent run XP yet, but in W7 I get the best times in 32m with the 4gb sticks at say 2600 c10 and low Latency Boundary. Tried a couple 2x2gb kits at 2400c7 LB 1 but the runs were slower.

Maybe its just me IDK:shrug:
