Thanks for the how-to bob!
As I said, I will attach my new main rig, the SR-2, to Jon's account. That should get him some pie :D
Anyway, as I don't want to lose my machine ID, I thought I'd let the WU cache run out (should be done in 4-5h), then close down BOINC, and backup my BOINC folder located at C:\ProgramData\BOINC (the same way I port my BOINC install to a new OS install).
Then I will detach and re-attach to Jon's account, and crunch on his account. If I ever want to switch back to my own account, I'll just copy over the backed-up BOINC folder and it should reinstate the machine under my old machine ID (ie NOT start a new machine entry in the stats).
Maybe a noteworthy technique if you're into seeing 20+ million on a single machine :D
Now.. somebody please PM me that weak key!

123bob posted it already a couple posts ago :)

I'm letting my queue empty before switching the system over. A 16 core machine has a lot of units in its list egads. I know I keep raving about this thing, but it is just so darn cool to see that much getting crunched all at once :slobber:
I should have a rig moved over tomorrow. It looks like a few rigs are up already. Let's see what we can do.
<uploading results like crazy hoping on hope that they're not too far overdue thanks to my ISP issues>
I've had my HTPC crunching under his account (I hope) for a few days now. I was a bit surprised at how many work units it downloaded, WAY more than I usually have mine download, he must have had his settings set to "never run out of WU's even if the internets breaks for a week". In fact I am a bit worried about my weak little Phenom X4 9600 being able to plow through the sheer number of them in the deadline time. Hit "No New Tasks" until I see with my own eyes that it can churn through the ones I have.
Don't advanced -> preferences have precedence over the web ones?
I just moved a rig over.
Looks like we have some good numbers going up for Loonym. Would be nice to see him in pie.
OK little help here. I punched in boinccmd --project_attach www.worldcommunitygrid.org 470921_2ad6aebdc8149b6aa1ab551d23ed04d1 in the terminal on ubuntu and I get this error "Authorization failure: -155" what does that mean???
*edit* hang on, maybe I got it.... Yes, got it! Geez this linux stuff makes little sense at times.
If you installed from the repositories you need to type sudo before that command.

It didn't like that either at first, but no matter, I got it working now. Had to navigate to the folder (I wasn't in it apparently).
The only thing is I'm running a real old version. I tried updating it before connecting to loonym's account and it installed the manager somewhere totally different, couldn't figure out how to install the actual newer client, or something.... so whatever, it seems to be working with this old version. LOL I just checked my main rig, it is on an old version too, 6.6.something. Oh well :p:
Yeah, if you installed from Berkley (or WCG) then you could well need to put the entire path to the executable in the command since it won't be registered.

i know the day is not over, But I am happy to see this.
About time! I'm sure together we can grant the man a piece of pie history. Just once could we get him some cherry?
Okay, so my CPU is arriving tomorrow and I just want to know how to do this.
Can someone tell me in a nutshell, how to install my rig to loonym's account?
If you're running Ubuntu, install BOINC, then open a terminal and enterIf you installed using apt-get, aptitude etc then make sure you add "sudo" to the beginning of the line, ieCode:boinccmd --project_attach www.worldcommunitygrid.org 470921_2ad6aebdc8149b6aa1ab551d23ed04d1
If you installed from the downloaded installer then cd to the BOINC directory before you use that command.Code:sudo boinccmd --project_attach www.worldcommunitygrid.org 470921_2ad6aebdc8149b6aa1ab551d23ed04d1
I don't know how to do it in Windows.
There is a file in you BOINC data directory called account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml (once you're connected to the grid that is), so if you open that fiel in a text editor and change the line <authenticator>blahblahblah</authenticator> to read <authenticator>470921_2ad6aebdc8149b6aa1ab551d23ed 04d1</authenticator> you should be golden, but you might need to reset the project after just to be sure.
put this batch file in the boinc directory (the folder that has boinc.exe)
open/run it and done.
I had not downloaded it before. I did now and got the same as Dave. No extension and when I open it with notepad it doesn't look right to me either.
@IFMU:If you log in to wcgrid.org as loonym and look for your device(s) in My Grid >> Device Statistics (menu at left), I think you should be able to see your cumulative and daily total(s) for each device.Quote:
* I'm curious, where can I look to see if my systems have posted to his account? Like to see what sort of points I'm putting on his account. Just curious overall.
* Where can I look to see what points we're doing?
The My Statistics History tab should have the daily totals for all devices under his name.
The WCG website might get a bit suspicious if you all try to log in there at once tho
