I always thought the "system" was the NB temp?
If anyone is looking for a good deal on the SR2, Tiger Direct has it for $599 minus ($79) Bing Cash Back.

I'm not sure if any of them are NB-temp, I miss a better documentation.
I've been experimenting with air flow in several days, and ended up with one fan on each PWM, and it is keeping both system-temps pretty stable. Finally all temperatures seams to be OK with IOH=1.35v in closed case in July heat. :)
I'm going to try IOH=1.4v soon, and I hope the cooling will hold.
No, I don't have a EVGA-account yet, but I've checked EVGA-forum a few times. Several people got the MB but there is not much talk about OCing there. They seams to be too busy with 48GB :p:.
I hope they can provide a better documentation and a new BOIS, soon. You can tell them about it, for me. :)
Yeah that CPU#0 PWM is a nasty one, it gets really hot. Mine holds ~62'C under load, even with a fan right on top of it. But I guess that's rated for high-temp anyways.
IOH=1.4v got it to BCLK205 :). It is amazing, anything over BCLK200 scores really good for the speed.
I don't know how stable this is, but at least holds for CB :). Still testing and hopefully can get it 24/7 stable.
Breaking new personal record in CB 11.5 :)
VVT=1.33/1.34v (Idle/load)

@SR-2 owners
Can help to run the x264 bench at this site? You need to install Avisynth, download & run the benchmark. The protocol is described there.

Some interesting results for comparison
http://www.techarp.com/showarticle.a...tno=520&pgno=7 Results of different cpus

It'll be great to know where Westmere stands in video encoding. Please leave a link where you post the results. Thanks.
PS: Turn off ECC, as it will give poorer results for 2nd pass.
Has anyone with an SR-2 had a chance to run PiFast?
Pifast was a bit of a disappointment ......... my I7 920 @ 4.5 spanked my SR-2 dual X5680's @ 4.3 :shrug:
y-cruncher seamed to be better, here is the comparison screenshot:

found out today that despite what evga says you can run up to 96gb of ram in the sr2.
here's 80gb... :D

haha.... final cut pro editing .r3d files.
yep... i've got OSX running on it... among other OSes.
Congrats man that is just pure POWA!!!!!!!!! :up:
I'm really looking forward to getting the board on water as the board temps are scary high for 24/7 load.
SR-2 doesn't use the typical classified cooling. Finns are too small and this MB needs active cooling, but it gets really crowded with tow CPU-coolers and it's not easy to add active cooling to it.
I've manged to squeeze a fan on each PWM, but there is no space for a fan on NB, between tow CPU-coolers. The CPU#0 PWM gets pretty toasty ~62'C under load even with a fan right on top of it, but I guess that's rated for high-temp and it won't cause any instability.
I don't know when stsytem2 (I guess that's NB-temp) gets unstable. It is keeping to ~47-49'C (Idle/load) and it means the heat-pipe is working fine to keep the temp pretty stable, but I don't know if it's too hot already. What kind of temp are you guys getting on System2?
My system is at 28c and system2 is 37c under 100% load crunching. CPU#0 varies from the high 50's to low 60's.
Could anyone here please confirm the minimum requirement to achieve full score (7.9) on processor in Windows 7 Experience Index?
Well after a little bit more tweaking I'm able to get in some runs of wprime 32m @ 4.94ghz on water which I think is rather impressive. The OS I was running was junk, so I need a new install. The current WR is 1.907 secs @ 5.07ghz. I was able to pull off a 1.96 @ 4.85ghz, so I feel with enough tweaking and perseverance I can get this done and get the gold cup back to where to belongs :D
I don't think that w7-index is something accurate and trusty for the measurement of CPU performance, CB 11.5 and vPrime are much better.
MY 1600MHZ CL8 RAM scores 7.9, but both my w3520 @4.51GHz and 2 x X5650 @3.8GHz (and i tries up to 4Ghz) never could hit that, they are always at 7.8.
