Angelo before you charge the second stage please unbraze that filter drier and run a 1/16 tube all the way to the bottom of that expansion tank. Looking at the way the oil sep and expansion are plumbed its possible (although unlikely) that the expansion tank may be capturing oil.
I dont know this to be true but Nol pointed it out to me after I built your cascade so thats what I have been doing on all the cascades since then and I havent had any alerts of failed compressors.
Would it be possible for him to turn the expansion tank over the way it is? :)

I get your point but were not talking about loading it up with 300 psi... and if you tune it the way ?I described then you wont be at risk. I built this system and know how it reacts. If you were too charge anywhere near a dangerous level the performance would reflect that overcharge with horrible temps.
--For folks who are new to this: The point is if you charge the system too much when its gas is in liquid form it may exceed the maximum pressure ratings for you welds, components ect once it warms up and expands.
Ok guys tomorrow we are going to make many phone calls to find the correct refrigerant r1150 for this cascade for the best ( lowest ) price , Praxair and Linde Gas and other places have it but not in stock here on the island , it has to be thru a special order only. The Guys on the repair shop are closing for 1 week as they are going on vacation next wednesday October 10 , so it looks like we will order some r1150 and it will take about 7-10 days to get here , so no more work will be done on my Cascade until we can order and get our hands on the r1150. I will post updates as soon as i get more information. Thank you guys.

LOL ... :D , I already have a cotization from Praxair , im gathering the funds to buy it , I cannot afford it at the moment ( i wish i could :/ but i have a big family to support , family always 1st , OCing hobbie 2nd ;) ) and my friend Raul Guido its on vacations hence the AC repair shop its close for 30 days as i stated before , so while he and his family its on vacations i will try to raise the funds to buy the Gas. I will update whenever i start working on this project again , its on hold due to unavailable funds to trow at this casacde at the moment. Here is a copy of the email sent by Praxair pdf file screenie of the cotisation of this gas, it will cost me $325US Dollars + $188US Dollars for Shipping = $513US Dollars ouchhh ... too many bananas :p:Quote:

Hi my friend , yes i was in shock by the high prices of ethylene , its because they dont make this type of gas in the island and has to be imported , hence why such a high price , im gathering some funds to get it , but i want to make sure the cascade has no problems at all before making the desision to buy it , we will recheck everything again before we buy this gas as it is way too much money , but its the only and cheapest option i got , other companies would charge lots more for this same quantity of gas :/ , Praxair gave me the cheapest price but by any means cheap :p: , will see how this turn out in a few weeks.Quote:

Good news , finally the Cascade its fully functional 100% and back in my bench room right now to be tested all night with 3770k , The only downside is i could not afford the ethilene Gas because it was $513US Dollars + Local Puerto Rico Taxes killed that dream , wayyyy out of my $$$ Range for a small quantity of ethilene not worth it. What we did instead we worked all day today with what gases we have on hand and available here in the small island. We used R404 Gas and tune it for a long time with the load tester of Buckeye at 385W for 3 hours , it sits at iddle doing nothing at -62c iddle , at full load with the load tester 385w for 3 hours it holds a steady without blink at -58c Steady , we tweak Re-Tweak and tune , Re-tune , empty the gas and regas tested and re-tested for long hours all day different gas charges and different Gases today until we got the max temperature to hold that load of 385w , now i have temperatures of a super single stage but with a holding capacity of the monster 2 Stage compressors it wont bulge at anything i trow at it . Im happy the way it turns out , not bad for first time experience working on a Cascade myself , i did learn a lot during all this time working on it. Thats my final report and final results. Thank you to all and each of you that gave me a helping hand , May God Bless you all. Im done and it is what it is , and happy with it. Bill ( Buckeye ) i will send you back the Load tester next week , i wanna do some more testing this week with it, thank you bro. Thank you Bill ,So far so good im testing now my Lemon 3570K at 1.75v wprime 1024 holding like a champ temps dont move :) , i got to tested more time before i put my good 3770K in there ,dont want to risk my good cpu. Heres a couple of screenshots of it at full load 3570K 5.7Ghz 1.75v wprime 1024 at -56c holding Steady temps dont move trhu the whole benchmark. If i run nto trouble i might ask here again for some help , thank you guys.
Idle Temps -70c now testing for only one hour , will keep on testing tomorrow to see if the cascade still holding same temps tomorrow after a long session of benching.

Thank you Ron , today im having some problems with the cascade after running it for a while ( yesterday i tested for 45 ~ 60 minutes only , very short session to test funcionability ) ,today very weird , the same mount as yesterday same cpu and mobo same settings , just testing more for longer time today rigourusly and throughly ( 2 hours ). If anyone have an idea , im using R404 in 2nd stage , in the gauges meter clock to check the PSI on second stage it moves a lot from 175psi to 150psi to 140 psi and goes up and down Red gauge meter in the cascade , sometimes it will stay static at 175psi under heavy load ??? Where the psi on second stage should be ??? using R404 gas for best temps and load temps ??? first stage its always static at 125psi blue gauge meter clock reading in the cascade. Today i start using Real temp program to check temperatures , im in total shock :( , under load it shows going to +38c~+46c while in the temperature probe on the head of the cooper head of the line that attached to the cpu it shows -58c during full load , thats the actual reading of the k-type probe on the head ,but in windows using Real temperatures it shows the temperatures going into + positive temperatures ??? the system crashed today while running wprime 1024m 1.76v 3570k i was watching and had it open while running wprime , Real temp program shows temperatures and it skyrocket to +105c after 4 minutes eventhought the reading of the thermal probe in the cpu shows -58c ??? Wich one is correct temperature reading the k-Type probe or Real temp program in windows ??? , today for the first time i saw the temperatures going all the way to -18c for a few minutes while iddle doing nothing sit on windows , after few minutes went back up to -58c steady while iddle , yesterday it was -70c iddle today -58c ~ -65c althought the room temperature its hotter today. Help me tune this unit please im at lost and i need some guidance please , i need a kind soul to help me out today if needed i can set up livestream camera or windows messenger to show the work and how the cascade its behaving in real time. I talk with the Technician that worked with me on the Cascade and told me to empty the R404 gas of the second stage at 5 seconds burst and re-check temperatureswhile iddle for 15 minutes , i will do so later , in the meanwhile if anyone have any idea whats going on with the cascade and this erratic beahviour i will appretiated a lot. please post back anyone willing to help me , please ill be working on the cascade all day until i get it right , i am at lost. thank you in advanced. Don't use software temp programs when going sub zero, they don't work.
Its something about the sensors built into the CPU's cannot read sub zero temps correctly as they were never designed for that.
Your K-Type probes will give you the correct readings.
I had an idea Real Temp was incorrect LOL readings , i wont use that program again :) , i look at the K-Type probe and its correctly attached , i will do a re-mount again with fresh thermalpaste today , as last night i was in a rush and use a no name brand thermalpaste i had laying around :/ ,really bad i guess and bad choice for being in a hurry as it was late and i was tired last night. Im letting the unit cool down , right now its off , i will do a proper re-mount with Gelid extreme thermal paste and i will attach another K-Type probe directly to the cpu to get 100% real time reading of the of the cpu. i will keep you guys updated in a bit. thank you Bill.

Ok, now i took out some gas R404 and iddle it sits at -69c with pc on at iddle with 3570k 1.70v with a K-Type probe attached dierctly to the cpu ( direct contact firmly placed ) , while running wprime 1024m it goes down to -40.2c and stay there firm during entirely benchmark it does not move , this are the real cpu temperatures as it is reading from the k-type probe attached to it. after wprime finish it goes back up to -69c steady iddle in windows doing nothing , so in fact my cpu temperatures are -40.2c at full load 1.70v holding. Anyone knows if by removing a little more gas i will get better holding temperatures ??? I need someone to help me tune it , remember guys im using R404 in second stage ( as before i was using ethilene ), first stage is using R507. Can anyone tell me what should i expect from this mixture of gases ? Or thats the best it will do ? Am I expecting too much by using R404 in my second stage ? What could be my real target temperatures with this set up -40.2c Holding a big load or can it get any better by taking some gas out of the second stage or perhaps adding more ? Help needed, thank you in advanced.
It's nice to have a bottle of 404 hooked while your testing so you can ad more if you let too much out. It is possible it will get colder and hold the same temperature but at some point you will let too much out and it won't hold the load.
