Er no. Not on the IC7 it is not ground. Upper pad of mc64 on a max3 is ground. Sorry for the confusion there. Upper pad of R50 which you are pointing to is VDD and lower pad goes to winbond chip.Quote:

so you're saiyng that i should raise this pad from the dead (scratch some track that was with the pad and solder) rather than doing something else ?
Nothing wrong with your method at all. Probably the best way to do it. I don't use a 10 ohm fixed resistor though. I use a 200 ohm fixed and a 2k ohm vario. On another mobo i just use all 3 pins of a 1k ohm vario and for vtt all 3 pins for a 2k ohm vario. It doesn't really matter how you do it. So long as you cconnect where you are supposed to connect the resistors etc. I can run 3 different brands of ddr at 258+ cas2-5-2-2. I didn't use the 10 ohm resistor because the value of the vr would be extremely low when i set vdd to 3.5 volts. With the low resistance this would raise current more than i would like. I don't want to raise current. I just want to raise volts. :)Quote:

hipro5, I have been following your method (that's how I wanted it done in the first place) but my tech guy says that the "R50" pad closest to the "Mosfet" actually goes from the left leg of the "Mosfet" goes to the "R50" pad closest to it so it makes no difference whether I solder onto the "R50" pad closest to the ?Mosfet" or if I solder directly onto the left leg of the "Mosfet".
Could one of my peers please clarify this for me? I'm kinda shaky as my mod did not turn out like how hipro5 described."

If you completely remove R50 then winbond thinks vdd is at 0 volts. So it send a gignal to the mosfets to increase volts. It'll do that until it reaches max volts of your 3.3v line. Problem with that is it also increases current to max. Don't fry that ddr dude. If you left it like that you will fry the ddr. Also if you monitored vdd and benched sandra mem bench you will see vdd going from say 3.3v to 3.1 volts. Back and forth, back and forth. That fluctuation will keep you from achieving any decent ddr o/c.Quote:

Measured VTT was 1,4 (so VTT mod stopped working)

Trust me it isn't stable. Fix your vdd like i said or you'll fry that stuff. Any ddr should be able to do 245 streetracer 2-5-2-2 with 3.2 volts. I've tried enough to know by now. So long as they use bh5 or D43 chips. So pc3000-3500. I sold 2 of my worse chips and they did 252 cas2-5-2-2 streetracer enhanced.

had ch5 that would do any cas anf fsb (up to 250) gat AUTO
even fsb 200 a-a-a-a-a or else hangup...
ok i'll fix that in a day or two but i monitor vdd with mbm and it is stable as it was with pin soldered to this mosfet..
a few questions about the vtt mod... which i've done.
vdd shows up at 3.25 in abit eq...
vtt shows up as 1.39 in abit eq...
where are the vdd and vtt measuring points?

vtt can be measured at the point where you soldered a wire to upper mosfet
I was a bit shaky bout my m8 doing the IC7-G Vmem mod differently to hipro5's & CATCH22ATPLAY's methods (me thinks they're the ones who helped creat the mod) but am eXtremely happy with the results.
Next up will be the VTT stabilisation mod for both my IC7-G & Max3 as 3.2v or above will only give me 1.36v or so. That's measuring by the bios, I still haven't learned to measure the VTT by the mosfet yet.
CATCH22ATPLAY, are the VTT mods the same for both the Max3 & IC7-G? just wanna make sure they're both the same b4 I commit..
I kinda prefer my modded IC7-G to my Max3 now that I've done the Vmem mod..

For VTT yes they are exactly the same. VDD mod on the max3 is easier because when you remove mc64 you put a 2k ohm vario in it's place and you're done. Oh only if you want above 3.2 volts that is. Hey i finally booted up my IC7max3 after having done the agp mod about 2 weeks ago. I set agp at 1.80v and now i don't have any agp issues at all. Look below and all with just a 17c water block for the cpu. I wonder what this cpu would do with my phase change setup. :toast:Quote:

I just want my VTT on my Max3 & IC7-G to be stable at 3.3v/1.65VTT.. not asking for much:D
Getting another 2 sticks of XMS3500 B4 they're all gone.. Pity it's only 256MB sticks but... The ones I have now are maxing out at 233Mhz@3.2v. I'm thinking that if I do the VTT mod, I'll be able to get them to run a bit higher than that. Don't need them higher but it'll be good to know what they're capable of.:D
Now time to choose which Max3 I do the mod to, the one with the MC64 taken off or the one with it still on. I'm leaning towards the one with it off as there's not as much work involved..
Catch22, are those AGP mods with an ATI or nVidia VC?
edit: I looked at your pics properly & saw the ATI drivers..
My next task is to put my 9800pro under a spare Vapo Classic once all the mods are done. I've maxed out my 2.6c but may have something left from the VC.. After the Vapo Classic gets some cool gas that is...

I basically used the same method as in the thread IC7 Vagp mod. I cut the trace and soldered a vario etc etc. I did replay in that thread.
I decided to try my Vnorthy mod again. I didn't use it for the 330fsb. I was just hoping it would improve 5/4 ratio. But it doesn't at all. BTW after playing around with my Vnorth mod the best way now seems to be using a 500k ohm vario between pin 2 and your 3.3v line. Set the vario at 500k ohm. Now i'm gonna try raising Vagp to 1.90 and see if that helps the 5/4 ratio. I don't think it will. 5/4 is such a pain in the ass. I think my HyperXpc3000 ddr is finally giving out on me. Back to my Corsair pc3500v1.1 :)
Oh and i was using my R9800xt during the 330fsb test. It would have been much easier with my R9700pro btw. My Nvidia card died a couple weeks ago otherwise i probably would have used that.
Cooling for mobo is northy has a heatsink from an Albatron 865 mobo with a small fan mounted on it. I put ramsinks on the Vcore mosfets and 1 ramsink on the clockgen. No case fans are being used and ambient temp is 25C. Total fans used is 3. 1 in the psu, 1 on my R9800xt, and the little one on the northy heatsink. Northy never gets hot and i bet the fan isn't even needed. Theese Vcore mosfets used to get way hot. With the way my mobo mounts to my case i had to remove that Abit OTES air damn thingie. With the ramsinks on the Vcore mosfets they actually stay nice and cool now. OK back to playing around with this. :)

Yup do that and you'll be set. It wasn't the Vagp mod that had me worried about if my mobo would work. I had previously resoldered my VTT and VDD mod. Well i had a dead short to ground. The mobo lights would tun off and on and fan would cycle. I didn't know atm that my soldering job was bad. Thought it was something else. Figured out eventually what i did. Then i did thew Vagp mod. Then had to resolder the VDD mod. By that time the mobo was kinda dirty. Here's where i got a bit crazy. I got some special cleaner like wd40 except it's meant for electronics. I used a whole can on the mobo cleaning it real good. I left the battery in and the bios chip. That's when i though OMFG i can't belive i just did that. So when i finally booted this mobo a few days ago i did not expect it to run at all. Luck sometimes is on my side.

OK new high. I got my 2.4 P4 up to 4G even now. cpu temp 22C with 10C water or close to that. 333fsb=sweetness except it actuall sucks because the 3/2 divider is slowing it down. Hell i might as well go back to playing with my 3.2 EE cpu :rolleyes: heh

Cpu-Z works fine for me although I'm yet to use clockgen cos of probs I encountered that are similar to your probs.
Same hardware as you but the only problem is running clockgen as that ups the AGP/PCI bus as well.
MBM works fine as well.
I'm not sure how you got that prob, try CPU-Z & MBM without clockgen as I think its clockgen that's causing the probs..

Don't know if this has anything to do with it but have you tried to use bios 20?
Kinda confused as to why 2 PC's (yours & mine) with a lot of similar components & mine goes fine & yours doesn't.
Only thing I can think of is maybe your Ram perhaps? Just guessing but you might have to go through that s**t having to check every component. Sucks big time...

I removed the MC64 and board will not go over 2.90 Vdimm. I can set it to 3.2 and the most it goes is 2.90.
eh thats kind of strange i removed it and now i get rock stable volts (with bad vtt of course......)
