Hexa-core Intel Gulftown moved to 6.4GHz
Intel is not expected to launch its first hexa-core desktop processor until next year, but engineering samples of the 32nm Gulftown CPU is already out in the wild. One of the have found its way into the hands of overclocker Shamino, and he of course overclocked it to the very limit. Using liquid nitrogen and a pretty terrifying operating voltage of 2.02V all six cores were clocked to nearly 6.4GHz for a quick screenshot.
With the cores clocked at 5.9GHz the system completed one round of 3DMark Vantage Performance to measure the CPU performance. The result was 51,177 points, which you can compare to the CPU score of the current Performance Profile world record at 32,328 points.
Intel seems to have come a long way with the new manufacturing process, months before the actual launch of Gulftown and at the same time there doesn't seem to be many problems with performance of its first six-core CPU.

Welcome to yesterday's news ;)

AMD's showed 12 core CPUs already, they aren't bad at all tbh. ;)
if these numbers are true , then this is a big letdown and frankly I can't see much wider interest here
2010 Q3, 2133 MHz, Turbo 2333 Mhz,$1699
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...22_.2832_nm.29
I wouldn't call it a credible source.
And AFAIK current Gulftown ES CPUs are clocked @ 3.2 Ghz.
Sounds like BS...
Agreed, looked myself and all I see is $999.00
A comment on what was written earlier in the thread;
Top ES's that are out right now are 3070mhz(23 multi) will do 3200 on all cores on turbo and 3330 on a single core.
There is a earlier release thats unlocked..Q3FE I beleive, listed at 2400mhz but unlocked.
WB MM. Hope you good.
Any word on Gulftown < $1000 ? Cause that's pretty retarded to buy X58 for "future proofing" only to run into a $1000 Gulftown wall.
Hopefully 32nm will see 4.5 / 4.7 on air. !!!
I would bite for 1000, if it can run high freq and stable like penryn. no way 1500! 1000 is ultimate max for me.
Well, I am admittedly a bit of a tech slut and 1G is my cpu price cap. ;) If I add up the number of wolfdales I've owned over the past two years it would be able to buy about 4 of those EE.
For $1k you can buy 5x i7 920 from microcenter....
And what you will do with 5x i7 920 ?
Are you going to use 5 computers at the same time ?
Also, you will need to buy 5 motherboards, 5 video cards, 5 case etc to make those 5x 920 operate, right ? So, it will cost you much more than buying one build with $1k CPU
Moreover, no one is sure that i9 will be an extreme edition only
latest samples have 3.07GHz (3.2GHz with TM on all Cores) and this is not final stepping. So i donīt think that 3.33GHz is a problem for final CPU ;)

Anyone with classified to tell us the maximus bclk?
I hope this is a typo? It's showing Desktop Gulftown with 4x256KB L2 Cache and 8Mb L3 Cache. I have a classified ready to go. Now all I need is a chip to play with :)
