Why buy classified board when you can mod a much cheaper gigabyte motherboard and get allmost the same speed..
A X58 UD4P motherboard is allmost half the of a classified
pm send for f9x for x58-ud5
thanks
Very nice clocking! Is gigabyte going to release 1.6 revisions of the other x58 boards as well, like they did with their EX58-UD3R? In this revision the pci-e clocking was fixed, allowing bclk above 222mhz, right? I sure do hope so, I'm looking for a x58 mobo atm, and these gigabyte boards sure do look tempting if they manage to fix bclk clocking above 222mhz ;)
I wouldn't really mind doing the mod myself, but I can't afford to lose the warranty :(
i'm still using the F8x bios (email and pm sent Hicooke :) ) and this is where im at :

I am about max on this board I think.
Just need 1 more on that multi heh :)

booj your killing it on that board man, keep that :banana::banana::banana: up ;)
Great work!
Kan anyone tell me what ohm is on those resistors, if one has lost them and need to find a couple off new ones?
The Resistor is about 1K ohm (that's what i measured on EX58 Extreme)
did you measured it when it was of the mobo or when it was on the mobo?
I measured it when it was out of the MB.
Measurment when it is soldered will not tell the Correct Value .
Thats wy i asked... :)
Seriously looking at this board - can Hicookie or Dinos shed some light on the possibility of revised versions of the UD4P or UD5 being released that don't require a hardmod, similar to the UD3R v1.6? Willing to break out the soldering iron, but if I don't have to, then all the better.
I am stuck at 233.9 MHz, once I go into 234MHz the mouse slows (glitchy)....then the screen goes a little pixel'y , followed by lock up. Temps are fine...PCI-e at 129MHz.
Need some help on this....hate to ask. But I can't find any mention on what to adjust to perhaps push through it.
Are you using water cooling? I get the exact same issue with my Asus P6T board but I am only using water cooling. From what I have read, those posting higher BCLK frequency are using liquid nitrogen or phase change.
Hopefully when I get my board back I might be able to give this another attempt, maybe just using a heat gun to stick some wires to the right spot with the resistor soldered to the end. I miss my gigabyte board and I will have a phase change unit to play with shorty as well.
Any tips for the UD4P? i'm having issue to get a 965 (ES C0) at 4GHz with a Bclk of 200Mhz :(
Giga X58 Extreme running phase, at the 233.9 ...temp is -25C....starting to think to get the last few MHz out...might have to go with a Classified
Temp & Humidity is getting high in the house these days....we have no AC. Might go on air till fall :shakes:
I don't know if it is the ram or the video causing the issue at 234+. Maybe NB.
Where is the info for the mod at? I have looked all through this thread and did not see it?
email hicookie for info
I think putting a VR in place of the resistor is the way to go but i've not had time to do anything yet...
hmm this will test my memory. The board has the pcie mod w/ F8x bios & cascade cooled
bios set
1.6 vcore, 1.46 vtt, 1.3 ioh, 112mhz pcie
2:8 ram, loosened timings & extra vdimm for headroom. 16x uncore.. if there's more I forget :p:
booted at 229bclk & used setfsb up from there
Is anyone hitting these high (220+) Bclks on air with any regularity, or is the usefulness of the mod mostly reserved for the subzero folks?
Booj NB air cooled or other(water, di, LN2)? CPU PLL voltage? Thanks.
It's all pulled apart now so I can't give exact settings. Cpu pll would have been auto or a notch above. The nb was stock air cooled :)
