Seems like the #3841A431 chips are just ok... i barely need to raise Vcore if i clock it to 3.8GHz HT On... but when i go to 4GHz and above... vcore required is too high... over 1.45v... So i am ordering soon an OEM chip from Tigerdirect and praying to gods to get a good batch.
Just bougth on 920 3838B079. I have good hopes on this chip :p
I'm a newb to all of this... any adivce appreciated.
920/P6T 1102 Bios, CPU Batch 3841A403

I lifted these settings from another member that posted them here. So far no hangups...

QPI/DRAM 1.35V
IOH 1.18V
IOH PCIE 1.50V
ICH 1.2 V
ICH PCIE 1.50V
DRAM BUS 1.64V
CPU Differential Amplitude 700mV
CPU Clock Skew Delay 100ps
CPU Spectrum Disabled
IOH Clock Skew Delay 100ps
PCIE Spread Spectrum Disabled
My results: What else do I need to call it good? BTW, regarding temps, pic was taken about 30 seconds after test completed.

Here is mine. I had 4.3 going for a while but could not prime it. It was all the way up to 1.57v +400vtt and I am not sure if it is safe to go past that on voltage. Right now I am 1.55 +325mv vtt stable 201x21. 61/60/59/59 load on water. 32C idle. Batch 3839A588

LMFAO, guys you're not going to believe this... this is too funny.
I return a 3836B043 locally after hearing from a few guys that this batch wasn't very good, and I order blindfolded from NCIX. Today I open the box, and this is the batch on the CPU: 3836B043...
I think I am going to give this chip a whirl, better not screw around with fate again... :D
What goes around, comes around :D Don't worry, me thinks it's a good chip, not spectacular but good.

namegt ... just bougth one 3838B079 ;)
Can you post your voltage bios settings ?
I guess there are duds and gems in every batch. I got to 4.2ghz LinX x 20 17.3k problem size stability with HT enabled on air cooling @ 18C ambient with 89C max core temp. It was getting up to 97C with normal ambients. Also that was with the motherboard running bare on the table.
Yes, that's extremely good results, better than top 1% especially considering you were at 89C. All the week 41 I'm refering to were from Amazon.com/Buynow.com which pull from the same warehouse. I'm thinkin' maybe they just got a bad batch. What is your highest 'boot into windows and get a print screen' number? I just did a 4641 Mhz with a superpi pass.
Yesterday I received my new hardware including an i7 CPU with batchnumber 3836A875. I still have to wait for some WC'ing stuff to arrive this week before I can test it. But is there anybody who could tell me if this is a good batch? Thanks in advance.
Dunno about this particular batch, but in general, week 36 seems to be one of the best
week 36. refering to 3836A or 3836B
Anyone have any knowledge on Batch# 3837B367 can't test yet board will be in next week?
Just finished lapping my i7 920 3837B390 & coolers
Will post Results later, still waiting for my DFI X58 board from motherboardpro.com
