these results are really good. with some nice watercooling and a good 360 radiator the rig would be very quiet and could be used as a daily workstation.

Yeah, I thought I needed wc too, but in fact, I don't.
Everything runs passive except for 2 Noisblocker XE1 120mm fans at 1000RPM max, which is already very silent when put in a case.
So actually, I will have a wc setup solely for the raidcontroller and the HDDs for now  :ROTF: :ROTF: :ROTF:
JCOOL , thanks for the great info , the link that you provide dont work, can you send by atach in my email klajdis@yahoo.com
I have to check the real performance in 3dmark 2006 , and 3dmark vantage ...
Thanks for the info!! It is really appreciated!! I'm looking for this setup to replace my P4!!
Heh.. yea I've been really busy. Not to mention ST is half ripped apart right now, still trying to figure out that SLI issue. (Its not my memory, only happens when both cards are installed, but each card works perfect by itself.)
Either way, let me know what benchies you guys want and i'll see what I can do.
I just checked it and the link works perfectly fine.
Just go to the Asus ftp and browse your way through, the new bios release is the only one that's currently on their ftp site.
ftp://dlsvr02.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/s...1/Z7S_WS/BIOS/
@Wes: For an easy comparison, you should set 400*7,5 as your clock, that way we both have the same mhz essentially and it all comes down to the mobo. Cinebench, Nuclearus and other stuff people are free to suggest.
If you can get the FSB higher for benches it will be even better, I can bench at 440 max.
But first get your problems sorted out, I'm really feeling for you man :(
for 1 month finaly a good test with this board , Thanks JCOOL for the bios .
Tomorow i will run some other test to share my expericence , maximum for today is 3200 MHZ , and imposible more , 400 FSB x 8 multi
Just be careful. If you overclock your hamster too far bad things can happen.
its just a 9600 gt for test , this system go with 2 x 3870 crossfire oc 24,533 on 3dmark ...
This makes me so jealous. I see that you finally found a replacement card (looking at your sig).
Wait till you see the home it's getting (hopefully today) :D
And yes, I replaced the PCI vid card with a cheapo-ATI that I got for 10 bucks from a friend. It's not too bad, has some basic 3D functions, both vga and DVI output and enough memory to display nicely on a 24" screen.
Increased my power drain by 10W over the PCI GFX card though...
Omg... just went through the ordeal of removing and re-installing the HR-01 X like 5 times in a row.
Every time I had them mounted and the mobo inside the case, something was off (mobo bending/HSF not making good contact/etc)
Took me 5 hours to put a few parts into a case... which I would normally do in like 10 minutes. Damn how I hate aircooling
Anyway, at the end of the day it's working and looking good even, I also replaced the NB cooler for something more fitting and capable (you guessed it - another "Alpenföhn" product :ROTF: )
Will upload some pics later, gotta get some sleep now to try and regenerate what's left of my nerves.
Wow 5 times. Excessive hahaha. Anways looking forward to those pictures. ^^
That's exactly what I did and what caused the problems :D
I couldn't see the bending with the mobo lying flat in front of me, only when mounted in a case the upper right edge came down etc
But now I got it ready and running, crunched all night w/o fail, temps are good and the rig is extremely quiet, too (only 4 120mm Noiseblocker XE1 fans at ~800rpm).
I guess I won't go WC on that one, except for a single rad that will cool the Adaptec 5405 raidcontroller (lasts not even 5 minutes with the stock passive HSF :ROTF::mad: ) and the HDDs...
How cool is this build
Sick Jcool
makes 24/7 4.2+ phase quads look Dare i say it normal !!!!
I want one
Credit card in hand help me !!!!!!
Thanks man
Even though my SS unit seems more sick to me :D
Anyway, for a cruncher it's unbeatable, especially considering Power-per-Watt.
BTW I forgot I promised you guys new pics... gonna shoot some real quick now
Edit: here we go

SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET!
booooteeeefulll. nice rig
Thanks guys :)
As you can see it's prepped fo some heavy duty watercooling... could house a Triple, Dual and two single 120mm rads as it is.
Strangely enough, I won't need any of them except for one single 120mm for HDDs and the raidcon as I said earlier - the rest is already well cooled  :yepp:
Oh and ignore the dust and missing screws, this is just temporary :wasntme:
