You are partially correct. In some cases 2560x1600 would use way too much memory (especially so with AA/AF) and would cause the data that used to fit into your graphics memory to fall into your system memory, and possibly into paged memory. This means that when you go over the GPU's onboard memory limit, each time your GPU needs to access that memory, it is bottlenecked by the memory interface (i.e. bringing data back to video memory). This can easily drop your framerate into the single digits.
So while you want to tax the card and make it as GPU bound as possible, you don't want to just naively turn all settings to max in *every* game for fear of memory issues hiding true GPU performance.
Man, I really wish these reviews would pit the 9800GX2 against the current 8800 GTX/Ultra so we can see just how much 'better' the GX2 is against the current top dogs. Who cares how it does against other new cards that aren't even available yet.
GX2 so far crappy for its money :(
the gx2 is available on http://www.overclockers.co.uk/produc...=56&subid=1009
but lmao @ the prices. i'd rather get a 3870x2 and a 3870 for cheaper
I Hope also see some benchmark against Ultra & GTX , so i can decide buy the card or notQuote:

I wouldn't judge the cards on one review...as you will see within all the reviews Mascaras has collected that there will be many many contradictions... and totally different outcomes... time and drivers will tell the tale...
I just wanna see for the Intel based mobo's that they can run this card on it...and do some single card tests...
And to me 8800GTS 512 SLI is a more viable and cheaper option, if ya got the mobo ofcourse :)

so, we can pretty much ignore all the reviews that don't use 174.53 for xp? Atleast I will, seeing as I will never use Vista.
Altho it's not in stock Scan has one listed for £387.73 - Palit 9800GX2 - Scan (UK)
There is another at £407.47 at CCL - BFG 9800GX2 - CCL (UK)
Hopefully the price will drop to sub £375 soon.
9800GX2 - Quad SLI vs 9800GTX --Tri -SLI.
I am using 2560 x1600 res , can anyone predict which path will be the winner??

mascaras im not being funny so please dont take it this way and i do apreciate the links (so does everyone else) but its annoying when you make a post and then edit it later on... :( after ive seen a post i treat it as read so i dont usually look at it again but with you ill end up missing some info that i might need
