What I said is that in the possibility of G92 don´t support DX_10.1, all fanboys came here with answers like yours saying.

I said previously that I don´t beleave in Fud, buts it´s funny to see your answer off the type:

Witch everyone knows that in markting it´s a key element. And also everyone want to have it ´s support.

Oderwise anyone will buy HD 2600 and 8600 because X1950Pro/XT are lot lot lot lot lot lot better, but everyone goes for HD 2600 and 8600 even knowing that X1950Pro/XT are better and much faster in DX_9, and in DX_10 the HD 2600/8600 suck.

It is not something like you say that doesn´t matter. It´s very very important....

Seems like the 8800GT cooler has 3 heatpipes so this whole overheating thing is probably in cases of bad case airflow.

I'll say this nicely in hopes you'll understand it. I said DX10.1 is mostly audio related (XAudio2 incase you didn't know), SM 4.1 is just a small part of DX10.1.

lol, X2900XT score way higher than 8800GTS in 3Dmark but does it translate to superior gaming prowess ? nada >_>. Stop basing graphics cards performance on 3Dmark, no body beside benchers care.

The 8800GT has its points, the HD 2950 has its own.

I don't see why one has to be better than the other for you to buy either one.

PS. The heat problems thread was older the posts above, so its on page 6.

I for one am not surprised, except for the Inq's insinuation that the GT is on a 65nm process...that's the first time I'm hearing this but it is within Nvidia's capacity to do so.

"G92" having heat problems is Charlie's way of saying the next highend, G90/NV55 or whatever it may be, is having the problems.
I don't see the real G92, aka midrange card, having heat problems if Nvidia has already decided on a release date and the single slot cooler.

I'd be willing to bet that's the case. ;) Note the complete lack of any stickers, components, etc. on the back. It also looks like a very early version of the fan-sink.

I call shens on that set of photos. :) Maybe a mechanical sample at best.

i find it odd that you can't see the traces on the pcb and i agree with you that i think its an early version too.

no traces visible on pcb = no voltmods :(

since when has that stopped people? in the case of the Wii, if the chip has the 2 leg's missing you dremel the chip away to expose the wires... (or so im told :D ) so im guessing that people would just do that too ;)

In regards to comments made regarding the apparently deficient single-slot cooling solution: My question is, what mid-range card comes with above-average OEM cooling? Has anyone here ran a 7900 GT under heavy load for any length of time with the puny stock cooler on most of those? I wouldn't even dare try. Interesting: The card in the front & back pictures on page 4 of this thread looks just like the EVGA 7800GTX ACS3 Edition. I was happy to see that the placement of the GPU is the same distance from the interface end as the 7800 GT/GTX & I would bet that an NV Silencer 5 will work - I hope so, since I have one sitting on the shelf. The only possible concern I can see with the NV5 is if the memory controller heatsink (presuming it has one) gets in the way of the where the thermal pads touch the RAM on that inside section, but I don't think they will. If it does work, Arctic Cooling could start offering the NV5 again. Of course, I have had great success with the Vantec Iceberq 6 and it would work on this card without a hitch.

It's going to have to sit on the shelf longer. It aint gonna work. ;)

Outside of the general proximity of the GPU, the general layout of the card is completely different. Not even the fan sink mounting screws are in the same place.

The cards in the pictures below are exactly scaled and as you can see, the holes are the same. The GPU placement will push the Silencer about 1/4" closer towards the DVI ports, but the Silencer comes up about a 1/2" short on a 7800 GT, at least the BFG card I had it on. Time will tell, but I believe it will work.

Just the GPU goles line up, sure. But you're going to need to cool more than that on that card (the NVIO, memory, VRM's) and there are obstructions that prevent the use of simple stick on memory-sinks on. Remember: A 7800 GT doesn't have the NVIO chip and the VRM's run much cooler than an 8x card.

So I'm still slightly confused ... The current 8800GTS 320MB, is faster or slower than this new 8800GT ? Do people think its worth waiting to purchase an 8800GT over a OC'd 8800GTS 320MB ?

I kind of already decided, I'm going to pickup a x1950 for $100 and wait it out to see how the new cards shape up. As usual waiting seems best.
