No squealing here, either.
there is a huge difference when it comes to video conversion, gaming, rar'ing. of which i do alot of HD Video conversions. 720p video conversions as wmv files to play on the xbox 360.
and mine is at 3ghz. the brisbane i mean.
its a snappy little system i cant deny that, but to go from a 6600 @ 3.8 back down to a brissy at 3ghz,, you feel it.
and yes if Abit cant even get the temp readings right on the NF-M2 Nview... how can we expect them to fix bigger issues on other boards.
the massive overclocks the NF-M2 can do far outweighs the off kilter temps, but temps are extremely important, i would think they would make it more of a priority.
No can do, cant get the bugger to boot. I think it doesnt like my kingston value ram, no beeps, just restarts once and then nothing other than spinning fans. If someone can point me in the direction of some memory that definitely works it'd be appreciated  .
Ignore me, I see theres a list at the start of the thread..doh!
What are the max voltages available for Vcore, Vdimm and Vmch? Also whats the difference between the pro and non pro? thanks
Seems my ip35-e is doa as it wont boot with a borrowed stick of g. skill F2-6400PHU2-1GBHZ  . Just my luck
Absolutely none mate, it resets once then sits with the fans spinning. I've reseated the cpu and hsf, cleared cmos a billion times, tried kingston with elpida chips, kingston with d9 and the g.skill above. Any more suggestions? I've not had a decent abit since the nf7-s!
are all the power cables plugged into the board? what about the psu?
hmm.. im out of ideas then, other then a bad cpu? i mean if the ram/cpu/video/psu all work with another board then it could be the board. at the same time have you box tested it? like not mounted in the case just on the static bag it came with and just everything plugged in. sometimes a short will cause what you describing.
Just received mine yesterday and got it running. Haven't gotten to really play with it yet aside from adjusting 'basic' options and upping my RAM's vDIMM.
So I've been reading about the 'Northbridge Strap', and from what I can see, it's the value that 'classifies' what 'quad-pumped' FSB rating you fall under? Depending on your OC you might get bumped to the next 'tier' which may have an adverse effect on performance until you can up the FSB enough to 'match' where it was with the originial strap.
And you can't control that setting with this board?
Sound about right?
@tomati: no squealing here either, friend. Reason I purchased this board was because my Infinity 965 was a piggy and I couldn't stand the sound (louder than my HDDs & VGA fan), I didn't want to pay $300 for the DFI NF 680i, and frankly, I don't like Asus or Gigabyte boards much. I was happy to see that Abit released a P35 board, and even happier when I found this thread about how bada** it is too!
If you return your Infinity grab one of these. It's not much more expensive and is every bit a killer board. :)
Good news, thanks men
can I ask you what PSU do you use as DFI tell me mine squealing issue on the dfi 965 is coming from my seasonic S12 500w, they said that PSU is suffering of an irregular output voltage ??? never get a so good psu ( really silent and perfect stability).
Looks like the two lower-end models are now available on Newegg. I might go for the $150 model if it has the same BIOS and overclockability as the Pro.
DFI is full of sh*t with that statement. I have used a Corsair 620HX and a Silverstone 750W modular unit and both are excellent PSUs and the DFI squealled with both. The only change that had any impact was swapping memory modules but it was still there but much more faint than before. Not sure what that menas but take it for what it is worth.
Sell the board on ebay and get one of the new P35 boards, you won't be disappointed.
very impressive board.. defintaly an alternate choice if people dont want to get the p5kdeluxe.. seems to be doing just as well in numbers. Congrats on the great success :)
i unpacked this board looking at it today at the store. The NB is crazy tilted at an angle off the die. its pretty weird, i wonder how much of a effect it would have. i would imagine prretty poor temps in that condition. Will be replacing stock cooling though for some active.
pickin this puppy up tommrow, better be all its cracked up to be. at this point, as long as the thing boots, sees my SATA drives, and runs i'll be happy.
