Vdimm mod for the P4C800 ???

ok, that would make sence why it wasn't working! I didn't want to keep going not knowing if everything was right or not. I didn't want to be overvolting the whole time and smoke my board cuz I had something hooked up wrong. But now that I know that everyhting is good I'll just keep lowering the resistance till the vdimm starts going up. I'm sopposed to go slowly when increasing the vdimm and wait for a second or two and let the voltage stabalize before going farther correct? How small of increments should I go before letting it stabalize? .1v?

Have you any clue about making the Vcore fluctuation fix mod ?

I have located the ADP3180 quiet easyly ( under the chip retention system, on the left side ) and it is not at the same place as onto the P4P800.

I was wondering if anyone has already hooked a 250Kohm to it on the P4C800 models ?

PS: I'm feeling a bit culprite to left my AMDs setups after 2 years but I gained +10K points in aquamark3 just from 237x10.5 Barton => 240x13 P4C : with no Vmod yet and watercooling not yet mounted

OK guys silly question here,

Would the mod work if I used a 10K VR that I use for my 9800 mod? Currently i think she is set at ~2250 ohms for my 1.85vgpu setting.

Or should I just get my mate to build me a grabber mod tomorrow 100% properly using a 50K vr? Or can we even use a 20K vr maybe? Just as long as the resistance is correct?

The 20k might work... I'll let you know when I get my mod done. But the 10k is VERY questionable, probably not.

All good. I got the 50K vr and did the mod...about to put it on now :)

Its a §§§§§ getting the grabber in there due to the vid card being in the way but it will do for temp sollution :)

I am not doing the mod anyways. The legs are too small for my grabber I think and tbh I cannot be fooked taking of the prom head and everything else to slide out the mobo tray to just put a mod on that Ill use for 2 hours.

Ill wait for a bit till my mate can solder it permanent for me :thumbsup:

Are you putting the grabbers at about a 45 degree angle? I couldn't get them to hook at first when I was going strait down at the legs. Go at an angle and it should work out fine.

Would u recommend putting the prom on its side for 5-10mins?

COs Im finding it hard with case upright and rekon it would be easier on its side.....or should i just stop being lazy and take the mobo tray out, which means taking off prom head....:rolleyes: :D

OK mod is on but now I have this problem.....sent this to mate on icq;

2.55, 2.65, 2.75, 2.85 and vdimm doesnt move from 2.82

I think i have to adjust the resistance so I did and now i adjusted it to be 2.85 while 2.55bios and then now it still the same , everything gives 2.85 now

i thnk i put the mod on when the vdimm was at 2.85 in bios.....would that matter? Cos I think u meant to have a 2.55 and then turn off pc and put mod on...but ive cleared cmos since putting mod on too.....basically the mod is OVERRIDING bios it seems atm.....

Any ideas anyone?

I'd suggest your measuring the Vdimm in the wrong location ?

ALso I just turned the pot 10 more turns and it measured as 3.26 :eek:

So the mod is working I think....but the bios isnt affecting it.....maybe the Rev 2.0 *does* have different circuitry?

If I can just adjust manually, I wont mind, but if there is something wrong then I should prob take off mod.....:)

I have been measuring some more guys and Ive found that the top left one, the one I thought was vdimm, is changing and when I put 2.85 bios I get 2.92 and at 2.55 I get 2.82.

Now there is another fet that is similar and ive circled it below, the its the top right one. I measure this and at 2.55 it reads 3.02 and then as I rasied the vr like the previous paragraph, and now this value is 3.12. Bottom leg :)

I think one of these 2 are the vdimm guys, but Im not sure.

Ok guys, have no fear, I have worked it out :)

With the vdimm mod on, 2.55, 2.65 and 2.75 will all give me 2.82....I then change to 2.85 bios and I get 2.92

I changed te vr a little and not 2.85 is 2.95 and the rest are 2.85. Ill do some more experimenting cos as I said, the top tight fets bottom leg goes up as well and is at 3.12 when the other is at 2.95.....so Ill maybe do some ram timings and work it out :)

I THINKG ive got it worked out, but if anyone thinks different then for sure jump in :thumbsup:

Nup its not working but I have it working manually......well Its at 2.85 bios and Ive adjusted the vr to give me 3.10, and currently testing

230fsb 2-5-2-2 PAT On and System Turbo is pretty stable :thumbsup:

If your bios says 2.85 and you have 3.1 going through the vdimm then everything is working correctly! Good job!

Yep I have 2.85 vdimm in bios and then real its 3.25 measured with mm at the original proper spot :)

If I put it at 2.75 or 2.65 or 2.55 it then drops to 3.15.....is this what it should be doing?

Im going to get it soldered on properly tomorrow :thumbsup:

If you have 2.85 in the bios and 3.25 when measured with mm, then you should have the following.

bios 2.75 = 3.15 mm
bios 2.65 = 3.05 mm
bios 2.55 = 2.95 mm

The vr should just increase the amount of voltage for every bios setting.

If you have

2.75 = 3.15
2.65 = 3.15
2.55 = 3.15

then something is probably wrong.

I get the 2nd option, but it must be real when measured cos my ram is doing better now than when I just had the 2.85 default :thumbsup:

just to check 1 last time, what would you guys say is the highest voltage i could run through bh-5 24/7?

I got 3.2xx running through it now, perfectly stalbe at ddr500 2-2-2-5. It could do upto ddr490 or something like that 2-2-2-5 with 3.1xx so that would be fine being that I doubt I would need much more 5:4 with a good 2.4c.

This mem and mobo seem realy good...too bad this proc is a pos. Maxes out at about 3.39@1.65v, and no more voltage affects it, and with the stock cooler more voltage wouldn't be good (just for the first testing phase. The pelt goes on tomorrow). This 4pca3+ rev2 undervolts the vcore like crazy...like .052v, and overvolts the vdim by aobut .04v. They are very stable, just not lined up with where they are suppose to be.
