Crud I ordered one of these on the 1st from newegg :( before I read about 1.02G revision ... I figured id take a chance because I really wanted to upgrade my pc and didnt know there was going to be a new revision

damn that sucks tho that its limited to 2.1 volts for ram and I got PC2 G.Skill DDR2 800 some of the best overclocking ram out there

I get my package today from newegg ... do you guys think I should return it to newegg and get my money back if its 1.01G ? then just wait until the 1.02G's ship out

Edit: ill just return it and get a P5W DH from zipzoomfly ($240) if I get a rev 1.01G ... that 2.1v memory voltage problem really bugs me

*update*

The One I got from Newegg is indeed Rev 1.01G but newegg was nice enough to issue me an RMA refund, when i get my money back i will be getting an Asus P5W DH instead, I dont feel like waiting until November for the Rev 1.02's and risk getting a 1.01 agian (that issue where 1.01G cant get 2.4v+ ram is annoying when u get expensive ram)

besides I like the heatpipe on the P5W DH its sexy

Yah, the 2.1v sucks. Other than that, however, I'm happy with the board. After I get all the tweaking done with the voltages allowed to set a baseline, I'm gonna bust out the soldering iron.

My final result was 3440mhz (8*430) on my E6400 at 1.5125v. I don't think the Zalman 9500 I purchased is cooling adequately, and will step it back untill I can find a Tuniq available. Dual Prime 12hr+ stable.

4. Patch some VGA card can't found when NB Vcore value has been set too high

6. Enable support for NVIDIA 7950GX2 cards under recovery mode
7. Fix CPU frequency not correct when use ES CPU and lock free fuction enable

I'll start messing with it tonight. Odd that it's got a fix associated with the NBVcore value "been set too high" when you can't set that voltage.....

Initial results show no performance or stability changes. I'll post any further results that don't fall in line with the initial or any "features" that I find.

Dump the 1.01G???

I am a TOTAL newbie regarding this subject of overclocking and probably won't mess with anything at all. I am building a new system for the family use with the P5b-e, E6600 processor and (2) 1 gig PC2-6400 memory. The memory says CL5-5-5-15 1.9~2.0V.

Is there any reason I should return this to Newegg and wait for a 1.02G?:confused:

Open to all suggestions, easy on the flaming please.;)

Nope, the 1.02 will only really add overclocking capability. I'm quite happy with the overall characteristics of my 1.01G, and would happily reccomend it to anyone who isn't a "hardcore" overclocker. The only real limitations are the lack of MCH voltage control and 2.1v max Vmem, both of which are overclocking only issues. There's just a big hubub here because the board was slightly misrepresented at first as more of a hardcore OC's board, which suckered me into buying it. :D

With the 1.01G and the memory I mentioned above, what kind of o'clocking would you recommend for a novice looking to squeeze a bit more out of the system. I have no plan on adding exotic or extra cooling, but I always want a bit more out of life and why not this too.

With the right memory and cooling the 1.01G will still do 500~515FSB with a good E6300. I found it to overclock the same as the 1.02G. The 1.02G will allow a little more leeway in ramping up memory that otherwise would have an issue with the 2.1V limit. Although the 1.02G board allows up to 1.7V on the MCH, the 1.01G in auto mode will still supply up to 1.6V.

Looks good! I can only hit 465x7 on air with my E6300 + G.S 2GBHZ + P5B-E + BTVx. I tried my CPU on a P5B-D and i get the same result :( I think its the batch of CPU :(

Whats your max FSB on air? Also what are your bios settings please?

Dunno, Im under water wouldnt even bother with air ;) Had to drop to 5-6-6-15 2.1v on my Crucial DDR2 533to run DDR 2 1030.

Have tried both SetFSB and Clockgen...none of them seemse to work. Atleast not for me..!
