Though it would be a crime not to show the results........ the AMD kids you speak of, well, they have made up their mind a long time ago. There's no coming back once you're inside that type of bubble. :)

My processor shipped from Miami FL. Weird, considering the company is based out of Eerie PA (A small town - went there for a friend's wedding in May).

what is the actual temp for idle and load? 44c idle seems really high for idle. I thought conroe's 65mm core and low voltage reqs would produce lower temps.

I am [not proudly] one of the top posters there, and have been visiting for years... but only because AMD has been on top for that long. I don't understand the brand loyalty crap. Not like AMD is handing out free CPUs and driving you to work.

But yeah, after I thought up the idea to get a Conroe, they all went ballistic. After showing benchmarks, they all just assumed that it was some sort of SuperCPU that was nothing like what the retail version would be... something always has to be 'wrong' or 'fishy'...

Oh well. I'm coming to XS for all my questions/comments now...

EDIT not to say I wasn't skeptical of Conroe myself, but after I started seeing benchmarks, there's nothing left to question. Now everyone is saying that K8L will beat Conroe, and even though it probably won't (just a quad core K8), Kentsfield will probably be out first...

I got the other one of three 6800's from east luna but won't have it till thursday. It also shipped from Florida. Nice to see the new stepping though.

I think you will see alot of orders ship Friday.

Hmm, seems all three orders from East Luna were XS members. Those three processors will see some serious abuse :cool:

I've hosed the Windows install playing around with ClockGen. motherboard wouldn't boot either for the longest time (unplugged everything and walked away). How do I get 1333 fsb to stick??

(Reinstalling windows right now, lol)

first of all trying to do anything with the retail heatsink is just silly.

use your noodle use a proper hsf

and intel needs to be shot right in their a-hole for STILL using that worthless stupid hsf.

its bullcrap that we dont have all coper heatpipe heatsinks from intel.

you wanna sit there and run 60c on that thing right now your never going to achieve high clocks.. its all about keeping it cool.

badaxe? or Asus? If it's asus i think it's automatic only. With my luck the asus I got will have a 402 bios and the conroe won't even post i guess. then what?

I'm actually not so worried about Conroe shipping since it appears to be available at many places now (just not ready for shipping yet)

What worries me, is Motherboard availability, which really sucks at the moment and I hope it gets better already

The way I see it, I'll have my E6700 before I buy a good motherboard. I guess I'll have to "rent" one for a few weeks!

I want an apology from this guy. I almost bought this weekend, right after the first one at East Luna disappeared but he convinced me otherwise...

Seriously though, I gots lots o respect for FCG, he was off on this one though. Not his fault really, most likely these places will get teh spank for doing this (I'd still have mine tho!).

you would have most certainly paid more than retail. a few retailers sold, what, 5 of these for a nice 20% mark up? while a few lucky people may have been the exception there are 10,000 others that my statement still holds true for. no apology offered. ;)

LOL.

I was just doing some testing on the STOCK hsf to see how far it would do. Of course I'm going to use a nice HSF for a real test of overclockability. It's just a test of the basic parts included in the box to see how well it performs.

Yeah, I'm positive it was making good solid contact. I just found the HSF to be rather...small. It doesn't appear to have a lot of surface area and it looks a lot smaller than photos of HSF that come with the P4 EE.
