Stepping 5 ES chips require 0502 BIOS or higher. I don't know about retail chips. My CPU would not boot with 401 BIOS. But I already had a Cedar Mill chip, so I used it to boot up and update BIOS.
I think a few people with earlier steppings were able to boot up with 0401. You can always ask Asus to send you a new BIOS chip that supports Conroe.
There should be a yellow sticker on the BIOS chip. It will indicate what BIOS the board was shipped with.

I bought E6700ES Stepping5 on last week,for the verification.
It's not bad.
P5W DH
Vcore1.426V 3836.2MHz
Vcore1.500V 3955.6MHz
Can be run pi1M, by air cooling(Cooler is 鎌鉾Z).
But,can't be change the multiplier on BIOS Ver.0701 when E6700 Stepping5.
Also Intel Bad Axe...
Therefore now using the CrystalCPUID and MSR Editor.
The verification of the memory etc. is also troublesome. :D
3955MHz with 1.5v is good. I'm crazy. I sometimes use 1.675v with air cooling. :D

However, I am similar in LN2. :D
It doesn't expand in this cooler at all though I want also to raise.;)
Omega-san, did you sell your X6800? I know you weren't happy with the results.
Yes, it has already sold it off.
It is hesitant though X6800 of step6 has been reserved.

Off-topic :) I'm testing the P5B Deluxe now. Seems okay. Was able to boot up at the speed you see below. Haven't gotten around to testing the limits of the board yet. ;)

The P5W DH is better for maximum CPU speed, but the P5B is good for memory overclocking.

droop is 0,05-0,006v :(
Nice clocks.:) The voltage droop on the P5WDG2 WS Pro does not appear to be bad. The board also overvolts a bit.
Any pictures of the actual fan setup?
Sierra Bound, I know you had the P5W DH a long time ago and you probably have forgotten but I was wondering what BIOS you used to get to 440+ FSB.
I have a similar setup and I cannot boot past 400 FSB, and it is pretty frustrating :).
I would like to just get my E6600 to 3.8, and I have them temp to do so.

Try 1305, it's been working great for me. Make sure you reapply the TIM on the NB HSF, pretty surprising how much one can gain from this.
