man I cant get this board to oc...On my 8rda+ rev1.0 I had this 1700+ tbred A @ 192x10 with 2v. I have tried up to 2.1v at the same timmings and still no luck. Wont even post. It gives me some siren noise. Dont know what thats all about. Maybe oc fail or something. Anyone have any suggestions.
Have you tried relaxing the timings abit?
Like Twiggy said probably is your mem timings, I got the same thing when I first set my ram timmings too tight.
I had a feeling that might be the case. Those who did get a benefit were probably not getting anywhere near 200fsb beforehand.Quote:

Regarding the SetFSB issue, IIRC sysfailur used SetFSB on his A7N8X? Im not sure on this one though.
Also, Komplett will have the rev1.2 in stock in 10 days. I emailed them and the answer came tuesday.

mdzcpa, thanks very much for the great info in this thread, saved me a lot of time experimenting with my new board. I had exactly the same L12 behaviour as you - Memtest86 gave errors (actually locked up the machine) in test #5 over 185 fsb, after cutting the bridge it now passes at 217 7-3-3-2. :)
I have the same memory as you, what timings/voltage are you running at 220+? I have to go to 8-4-4-2.5 to pass #5 @ 220 (dual-channel). Haven't had time to test all combinations but increasing vmem doesn't seem to help all that much on this XMS3500?

I can get to 7,3,3 2.0 at 220mhz @2.9v...but that's max stable.
My current settings:

The differences in our systems might be some extra burn in for me, or just the random ability to hit high end speeds we face in the OC hobby. Every piece of hardware has it's own personality:)
Other tips are to disable the spread spectrum settings and leave CPU Interface disabled.
Even so, you are cooking along nicely now it seems:)

If i had to guess it might be that Corsair 3200 you have. From my understanding there is some Corsair 3200 that has SPD programming that is not compatible with some NF2 boards. The solution is to set the memory timings to Expert Settings and make sure you use only CAS 2 or 2.5 ....not 3 which SPD sometimes gives you.
Worth a try.
Does the onboard systems go crap when running this high FSB ?
I know that the Asus nforce2 mobo's craps sound when running higher than aprox. 210 FSB.

na I tried a bunch of ram settings same thing. I set it to cas 2 cas 2.5 and cas 3 and none of them worked.
hey mdzcpa, have u been able to run any higher then what your currently running at? and how is the performance with only 1 stick of ram?, cause thats all i got right now at the moment. i should be ordering my 1.2 tommarow. :D
Haven't pushed things a whole lot further. It's running near the top and needs some fine tuning I just haven't had time for yet. But here's where I am..all dual channel.
daily 24/7: 220x11.5 7,3,3 2T 1.90v 2.9v 1.7v 1.6v
max vid fsb: 225x11.5 8,4,4 2.5T 1.95v others the same
max prime fsb: 230x11 8,4,4 2.5 T same
BTW, single channel is more stable...but it isn't the best for me. It allows me to post with instability at 233...but that's it. And I'm still locking up at 225 in 3D. I think it needs more vdd.
NB stays very cool. No mods to board. Small active copper orb on NB. Pelted CPU/GPU. XMS 3500.
nice, are u going to attempt the vdd mod? heard it was kinda risky... that copper orb, is it the vantec chipset cooler or somthing else? ever thought about cooling the sb with a passive heatsink or somthing.
i cant wait to get mine, and see how far it will go.
im ordering tommarow from excal, wondering if i should get the "bios survival kit". havent really heard to many problems about this issue with bios failing with the NF7. its only 12bux, i think ill just get it for the hell of it.

The NB cooler is really some off brand copper chipset cooler....but yes...it's a lot like the vantec. It's small but heavy.
I'm prolly going to put something on the SB this weekend...a non active heatsink would be fine I think.
Can't hurt. To be honest, the way this 1.2 saves and exits from the BIOS...it's like night and day compared to the A7N8X. The Asus would freeze at times, not accept the changes sometimes, and the multipliers worked sporadically. This nf2 does none of that. But....it's always good to have a bios back up:)Quote:

How do you put in the ABIT NF7-S nForce2 BIOS Survival Kit?Do you have to solder in the new chip or what?
