I know my CPU isn't the greatest, although I had a 7300 with my X850XT and i am pretty sure this thing should be getting more than 15% higher scores.
Stock (475/1350) I was only getting 7800 with the 7900GT.
Don't complain, I just ran 3DMark 05 on my system for the first time today, and all I got was a measly 321. No Joke, I even optimized my whole system to get the highest score possible.Quote:

I just reran it. Clean OS, fully tweaked, all services shut down, 3.85GHz, mem @ 344 / 4-4-3-10. Still only pulled a weak 8720.

Mine XFX 7900GT Extreme gives 950 on the mem's with no mod yet.
The 1,4v pen mod also enables the mem to go higher ????!

What he means is that if you vmod the votage to the gpu not only the gpu will attain a higher max. speed also the mem will go a little bit higher! :toast:
I got my eVGA 7900GT superclocked last night (default 550/1580).
I installed coolbits2 and ran the optimal overclocking autodetection and the result was 563/1694. I ran 3Dmark06 and got 45xx score, artifacts free.
Then I did the 1.4V Vmod using a conductive pen I bought from Radioshack and then I replaced the stock cooling solution with an old Artic Cooling Silencer NV 5 Rev2 that I got a year ago.
I ran the coolbits optimal overclocking autodetection again and the result was 601/1790. 3Dmark06 gave me 4700 dead-on score with this overclocking, artifacts free.
The problem is that the temperature hit 73 celcius, so I'm going to re-apply the thermal paste again and maybe flash a modified BIOS to the card with a higher fan speed for 3D mode.
seams like that EVGAs 7900GT dont score so good as the XFXs 7900GT (maybe memory timings?)
What CPU you have Timeout???
i got 4900 marks in 3dmark 2006 with XFX 7900GT extreme at 550/1630 and 5007 marks with XFX 7900GT extreme at 570/1800, stokcooler , stok volts and Opty 148@2990Mhz.

I have a Venice 3000 overclocked from 200 to 243 HHT (2187 Mhz), 2GB PC4000 RAM running 1:1 with the CPU.
oh ok , the low score its because of the CPU then.
i just bought the liquid silver ink :D
one question , all that litle points on the card are ground???
just need to do this right?:

That's what I did with the conductive pencil and it worked.
i dont have the pen , i bought liquid silver , what its the best thing to use to paint ???
dude, just solder a wire between => done
I can't find a store where they sell conductiv pencil:S Any ideas?Quote:

u dont need pen u dont need ink u can simply solder a wire between this 2 spots just a wire or put it just there and fix it with tape doesnt matter.
i dont like that this thread gotta get messed up with some stupid questions (sry) but its for THE OVERCLOCKING RESULTS and NOT how can i do this or that....
if u still dont know what to do better u do nothing with ur card. the mods are postet everywhere around and here in this thread more than 20times.....5sites be4 so please keep it clean with SOME RESULTS!

i know that i can sold a wire to conect the pin to ground or change the resistor , but the ideia of the conductive ink its precisly dont sold anything and dont use wires ;)
im just thinking whats the best thing to use to paint the d511 to ground because a brush its too big
You can use masking tape.Quote:

LISTEN CAREFULLY: Even easier than the conductive-pen mod!!
1. Get some tape... clear or masking or whatever. Apply around the two points, but not on them.
2. Get ALUMINUM foil.. straight from the kitchen.. that's right.. cut a little piece, and roll up as a wire.
3. Apply aluminum foil between two contacts.. because you masked out everything else there should be no danger in getting a short.. put some more tape over to hold everything.. YOU'RE DONE.
And you didn't need a WIRE (that everybody seems so afraid of) or conductive-pen (which everybody is so confused about)
Since how hard can it possible
The mod rocks I have only done a 1.4v mod will try the 1.5 one neext
OMG all I can say is thanks and good work guys!! I read this last night and tried the 1.4 mod today on my two evga 7900 gt co's and am able to get 640/1750 NP with stock heatsink and no ram sinks. Ill be water cooling these babys real soon and will try higher mod then. I just wanted to post and say thanks. I think it would be great if all the people in here would post what drivers they are using and if they see a difference between drivers while over volting. Also I did the voltmod is there anything else I should do by way of tweaking or bios that would take greater advantage of this mod?
I am still wondering if its worth flashing to the newest 7900GT bios out there, instead of the one that shipped with my card.
Ok I have been able to run 3dmark 05 @ 625/1800 and the best I can get is 1330 score which isnt much higher than I got before I volt modded them doesnt seen right for sli Im wondering if Im cpu limited since my mobo will only run at 220 fsb and 2t timings.
looks like the 7900gt's have high memory timings... would explain the extremely high oc's and the fact that 7900gtx at similar clocks outperfoms in benchmarks... anyone wanna post some 3dmark05 compares to prove my point?
1.4V-1.5V (depending on how much cooling you have) seems to be the best for 24/7.Quote:

It also seems that good air cooling is more than sufficient. I have a 500g 1U copper heatsink from 9800pro days that I could put to good use ;)

Which one do you have? The 675 cored version? If so, you may want to edit the BIOS so that you can restore the delta back to 50 MHz from 25 MHz. The ROP/Shader is often the limiting item, not the vertex. Mine is now at 60 MHz and it has improved things. I have the regular EVGA 7800 GTX.Quote:

This issue can be related to overheating mosfets or overclocking GPU blocks. Check your elements in circuit. Try negative delta. We are trying to find the root cause in our thread on overclockers.ru.
I can say that you should be able to get on your system: ~12.2k mark05 and ~6700 mark06 only with 720/1800.
I have two evga co's and with the 4v mod I can get 640/1800 on either with stock cooling and no ramsinks. each will break 10k on 3dmark05 but when I run them in sli the best I can get is 560/1740. The reason is if I try to approach 600 on the gpu the system hangs or shuts down.
WTF I have a thermaltake 520 watt pure power PS. Its either getting to hot because of sli or power issues?? Im getting the new 7900 gt sli waterblocks that Danger den is coming out with in the next couple weeks and will fix the prob if its heat but Im kinda stumped. What do you guys think? anything I should try to isolate the issue?
Sounds like PSU, the thermaltake 520 watt, like all Tt PSU's is a POS :fact:

Is it safe to use the 1.4v mod 24h a day with water cooling ? and 1,5v ?
Hey Dazog, just look at mascaras result - almost 11k with one core and a little bit low clocks.... it's realy strange...
jVIDIA, yep 1.4 and 1.55 it's safe for water cooling...
So out of all of these resutls, which is the best SLI set up?
2 gts superclocked or regulars overclocked
2 gtx superclocked regulars overclocked
I want to order today, my superclocks have been on back order for over 2 weeks! Was thinking of getting the regular ones.
Or maybe saving a bundle and getting 2 gts, overclock them
thanks
I'm minding of switching the voltage to 1.7V like Shamino did, but isn'tit too much for a H24 use, i mean with a fan blowing on regulator and RAM and witg GPU under waterchiller.
The gain seems important but i fear somehow the enormous voltage considering the original 1.2V -> 1.7V +41% :(
But consider that the nominal voltage for the GTX is 1.4v and these are the same cores. It's just that the GT's have been starved for voltage to keep the clocks lower then the GTX's.:fact: It is a smaller core though, so maybe keep it at 1.6v to be safe.Quote:

Look at Shamino's results at www.vr-zone.com. Very similar to yours. But pushing 1.7V he couldn't even get 800Mhz fully stable... ie.. diminishing returns.
D508 alone is +0.1V increase (as stated already multiple times), thus 1.3V for 7900GT.Quote:

A "ground" is a "ground", and all connected to "ground" is also "ground". So, after you connect ground to D508, now D508 is also ground. If you connect D508 to D511, D511 will also be at ground. It doesn't matter how you connect them, as long as you connect those points on the PCB and those points only.

RE:1.7V - dont be fooled into thinking its just 0.3V over GTX 1.4V. For starters, 1.4V is already at or over the maximum rated for 90nm. No big surprise that compared to 1.2V-1.4V, raising voltage over 1.5V gives very little extra Mhz. Also remember, power and heat do not scale linearly, but approximately quadriatically... ie 1.4V->1.7V = 38% more heat/power! And dont forget all the power regulation circuitry under all that stress. 1.7V certainly not advised for 24/7, but would make good screenshots especially with LN2 ;)
