PcCI2iminal, how do you apply the thermal paste ?
OMG that's near 6ghz with ambient cooling! That's crazy even for a low end CPU! :toast: Keep clocking PcCI2iminal! :fact:
air cooler or water(ceramique or AS5) just a little part in the middle of IHS and i put the HS on itQuote:

nicepun, what is your cooling solution and vcore ?
PcCI2iminal, it seems ok. Try ceramic in that one ! AS5 with a concavous IHS doesn't work well ! ;)

Folks, I've tried to get 4.8 (320fsb) in my 930D today :D
With the pencil vdrop mod I have 1,46v @ full (1,32v in bios).
Also put 1,55v in MCH voltage and 1,30v in FSB Termination voltage.
It seems stable when I run 4 SP2004 on it, 2 one each core.
But sometimes I get a BSOD with the error :
Stop: 0x0000000A (parameter1, parameter2, parameter3, parameter4)
IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL*** Address x has base at x - filename
Also occourred the same BSOD with 1,31v in bios ( 1,44v in windows @ full ).
My full temp is 62ºC.
System : P5WD2 Premium 0709 bios + Corsair 5400UL + XFX 7900GT Extreme + be quiet! dark pro P6 600W
Any ideas whats going on ?
Need more vcore ? PSU is weak ? or could it be a SATA related problem ? I only have SATA HD's :(

nice overclocks guys, puts my 930 to shame but are you 100% stable at those speeds?
i can do 4.5 on mine but the f@h stable speed is a much lower 4.11 :( mainly due to summer temps tho, cant wait for my 12k a/c btu unit to turn up.

Hello,
at first - sorry for my bad english - i am from Germany, but i will try to make me understandably. :D
I have here a EPoX 5EGA+ (i915G) with SDR-DDR-1 at nearly 250 MHz FSB (DDR500 / QDR1000) wit a PENTIUM 550 (One of the first with the D0-Stepping) in combination with the CORSAIR TWINX2048-3500LLPRO. Well, it runs very fast at 3,85 GHZ only with 1,25 Volt and at 4250 MHz (17 * 250 MHz) with only 1,55 Volt. I am very happy with this piece of 90 nm INTEL-Engineer-Wonder. But, now i would like to break some limits for more performance - maybe ~ 5 GHz with the help of 65 nm? :D
I know, that this is not possible with this CPU on this Motherboard (SATA-Recognize-Fail-Error, limit at 250 MHz). Perhabs with a another CPU? I think yes! 250 MHz FSB are possible with this Motherboard and my Good-German-Cooling-Solution (INNOVATEK), that drives my PRESCOTT down to the Room-Temperature, could help me to make it probably - what about a CELERON D 356 or a PENTIUM 651?
Well, what can i expect - what have more performance?
CELERON D 356: 25 * 250 MHz = 6250 MHz
PENTIUM 661: 17 * 250 MHz = 4250 MHz
My question ist - could i really drive the CELERON up to 6 GHz (Voltage-Drop on my Motherboard - max.: 1,55 Volt) or is the 2048 KIB PENTIUM much faster?
P.S.: Thank you for your answer.

Hello,
thank you for your Answer - very nice CELERON.
Sorry, i mean the Pentium 651 - the 661 is yet to expensive, i do not want spend so much money as a student for a simple CPU.
The 356 should be also much faster at 5 GHz as a 2048 KIB Prescott at 4,2 GHz? I think, that i should be able to clock more as a 200 MHz FSB - maybe 220 MHz for 5,5 GHz - or what?
P.S.: The Temperature should be not a Problem - i am able to drive my 90 nm NetBurst at 4,25 GHz and 1,55 Volt down to the Room-Temperature (+/- 1 °C). My big Innovatek-Set with six 120 * 120 mm Radiators is very usefully (http://www.innovatek.de) for such Overclocking-Action. My PSU or my VMOS-FETs could make 6 GHz impossible, but the Cooling never ever! It is very efficiently working and a good solution. ;)
356 @ 5ghz wins!!!Quote:

Hi all. I am a fairly new to OC' so please forgive my ignorance, but I have a few questions.
I have just put this system together on Saturday, and I am trying to maximize the speed using Thermaltake BT and 2 fans blowing on the mobo.
1st question, in order to have an option in BIOS to "LOCK FREE" the chip, does the cpu need to feature SpeedStep tech? Would those be C1 rev chips? Reason I am asking is that I think I am pretty maxed with CPU speed using air cooling. @1.6v hitting 66-67C. Which sucks because I am just few MHZ from 1066 bus speed :(.
Another question, I have a Thermaltake 600W PSU, with 12V 8-pin plug and 24pin 2.0 plug. I use only 1 7900GT card supplied with 6-pin PCI connector, yet I noticed that 3DMK5 and 6 will just stop(driver error after pressing ESC, but system stable) halfway though the benchmark, but 3DMK1SE or '3 have no issues. Do U think I need use the easy plug as well or is it just driver issue?
Thank you, and great to see so many great OC's on these pages.
http://www.freak3d.com/images/pd950_0619.jpg
also, since I see so many peeps here using P5WD2-e Premium board, what BIOS did you find the best?
OK, i will take a 356 for > 5 GHz. :woot:Quote:

so check this out, I have been running my 930 at 4ghz, and had been reading about the bios and intel desktop utility reading bad temps.
so today I ran 2 instances of prime 95 again with throttle watch open looking for any signs that it could be heating up, well after about 20 minutes my desktop utiilty had an Alert that I was over my core threshhold. But according to throttle watch nothing was happening and everything was fine, so I opened up the case and touched my heatsink it was barely warm, so I decided to touch a heat pipe and it wasn't even hot.
Do you guys think that I am just getting bad readings and I have nothing to worry about, or that maybe my cooler (TTBT) isn't seated properly on the cpu and I am toasting my chip?
i agree i'm on watercooling big radiator and i reach 70°C after hours of prime/orthos and if check the temp with a sensor under my waterblock the temp is around 44 :mad:Quote:

Previous owner said 4.54 Ghz 1.45v on air is good
I'm topping out at 4.50 Ghz with 1.47v (1.56 in bios) on watercooling
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...l/c94f1813.jpg
I have to clockgen up to that speed. CPU is acting very messed up. Here are a list of symptoms:
1) SP2004 large FFTs fails at stock settings within 4-6 seconds
2) Clockgenning up, i start failing applications in the 3.7x range... 3.85 Ghz at stock volts and i get restarts.
3) Booting past 250 FSB i run into a condition where programs like prime & Sp2004 crash instantly, they don't even begin to run. Also games are messed up, CSS runs at double speed. I cannot figure it out.
4) Booting up at < 250 FSB and clockgenning up, i am unable to get stable anywhere near anticipated.
4.4 Ghz requires over 1.5 volts, 4.5 Ghz requires 1.575 volts set in the bios and some things will randomly crash (SoB in particular). Anything over 4.5 Ghz, even with plenty of volts gives me crashes and restarts. SoB, Firefox, Explorer, everything will crash and dual load will restart it.
I can provide screenshots of all these things, cept CSS.
CPU is watercooled.
Everything other than the CPU was tested on a Celeron 336 and everything else is good... ram was underclocked for everything above. Tried different ratios, no succes. Tried different BIOSes, no success.
lapped my cpu and gained around 7°C in full load

7 C? That's a good difference. May have to consider lapping.

dual prime stable 3.8GHz air cooling with bigtyphoon. i will get tower 120 once its availible. Hoping to get 3.6Ghz on E6600. This board is pretty good. I like the timing change.
i cna boot at 3.8Ghz. Have not tried any higher. In BIOS, vmch, vfsb were +0.2v and vdimm 2.1v, vcore was like 1.55 (1.46 , 1.48 actual ) i think. during load the vcore osmetiems drop to 1.42.

Probably my last update to this thread for a while with dual core Netburst chips (waiting for Kentsfield...) This thread looks like its dying out with the excitement of Conroe.

Well, while I wait for my E6600.........
Bought my first ever Dual Core CPU, things are/feel considerably faster than before now so this is my new 2nd rig:
-ASUS P5WD2-Premium 955X 0702
-Intel Pentium D 945 Presler
-Tuniq Tower 120 + AS5
-Corsair XMS2 DDR2 675 4-4-4-12
-eVGA GeForce 6800 GS CO
-OCZ PowerStream 520W
I think I've pretty much hit the max I can do on air, as many others here have with a 3.4ghz Presler I guess.....so 265fsb is the max I can do with a 1.4125Vc, have not tried anything higher than that but this here is the result:

Yes, I have EIST enabled, temps are not an issue, the Tuniq Tower 120 keeps it under 50c at full load, about 33c-35-c idle.
