actually that gives us a lot more info LOOK FOR THE CABNE they are FX57 cores!! the newer ones appear to be 3700+ 4000+ cores

Yes AFI 2 x 512 BH-5 @ 244, surprised that it makes that much difference tbh, must be the bank interleaving because my timings are pretty far from optimal at the minute.

Played some more, raising Vcore helped, 1.6V did nothing more over 1.55V.

Maxing out at 3140 for SuperPi 1M:

This Gskill isn't doing bad either. :)
Results are watercooled.

This cpu seems to have a rather strange way of telling me it's not stable, instead of giving an error in SuperPi it just bluescreens. :confused:

Feels like the CABNE 0530APMW Opteron 146 is the way to go here... wonder how long those will be available. This is stressful, got to hurry, before AMD realize that the cores doesn't have to be that good.... Guess they allready knows this! Aaaahhh! Panic! :eek:

Good description of puit cooling (although I can't read that....French?) through pictures.

Pre-amble timing should be at like 7ns or so.

Pushed my 148 a little further:-

1.600v - 317 x 11 (5:6) 3488MHz
1.650v - 318 x 11 (5:6) 3505MHz

It's not scaling so well at these sorts of voltages and I suspect more severe cooling would be needed to push this chip much further... Having said that, I'm very happy with my Opty :toast:

Those results are from on a Prommy? I did better with water....can you show us an A64 tweaker shot?

Understood Vapor, I meant that this one seemed to scale approximately 20Mhz for every 0.2v added then once above 1.6v the jumps grew considerably smaller if you catch my drift.

Ill have some screens up in a sec currently at 2.8 with my opty 146 from vandi.
I had some major problems that lead me to stay up till 4am trying to fix my computer. My raptor drive decided to get all corrupted.
luckily i havnt had to increase the voltage yet, still 1.39. I hope this means I can reach 3 - 3.1 without having to go above 1.55.

Currently running under xp120 (30c idle 39 / 40c max load) till my new tubing and resevoir arrive, then I'll be placing it under my lovely Storm G4.

This might be the hardest thing I've read lately to believe. I'm not saying I don't believe in miracles, because I do, but to be at 1.8v with a 144 and only be at 42c on wc(or is that 42f?) is truly a miracle. Let's see a sg ss. Make me a believer.

Tested some more tonight.
Results:

Over an hour Prime stable (stopped the test myself) at 3000Mhz 1.45V
OCCT test stable at 3050 1.55V
SuperPi 32M@3100MHz 23min 22sec :slobber:
SuperPi1M @3140MHz 26.235 sec
CPUmark 99- 414 (3140MHz)
Sandra bandwidth 8426mb/s (316x10)
Hexus PiFast@ 3140MHz 37.95sec

Still, it bluescreens running SuperPi 1M at 3150.

Impressive low voltage CPU i'd say.

You need to wait a bit, the last stepping didn't 'look' good because only one person tried that stepping.

Maybe finnaly try to oc the vpaw with relaxed async a preamble and give some screenshots of superpi,cpu-z and a64tweaker.

Till now every opteron did a good job. I am sure tomorrow will follow more screenshots because 50 people received 536VPAW today.

im at 3ghz right now with a 166 wondering if during 32m run my temps should be hitting 48c i usually dont like anything to run over 45c full load... I see alot of people idling around 36 is 48c too hot for full load?

Just an impuse buy when i saw Charlie's EWiz thread. I was a little irritated by their non-live inventory that only updates at regular intervals throughout the day. (And as long as they show one in stock you can place hundreds in your cart.) I got an e-mail telling me it was out of stock but they were expecting another shipment on Thursday. They shipped regular UPS on Thursday on it arrived this morning. I live close to EWiz.

I was expecting a "bad one" since I figured all the CABNE from week 30 wouldn't be included in their restock. I didn't expect to get an older week and a stepping that has only been seen in a drcrawn thread featuring a 940 socket CPU. Strange.

I just slapped it in the same water cooled test rig I used for the last two Opterons. I'm using some Twinmos CH-UTT I had laying around. Please don't start hammering on me about the slow SuperPi time! I'm running the memory slow and loose right now because i'm just want to play with the CPU. I'll try to tweak it a little after I get a feeling of where the CPU will top out in the test rig. Maybe I'll start reading some SuperPi tip/tricks/tweaks guides when I find some time.

My gut tells me this stepping/week won't do as well as the first two CPUs I got. The slightly higher volts to get to 3ghz would seem to confirm that, but i think it'll still do better than the average San Diego.

Alright, I've resumed benching my Opteron....couple of quick observations/questions.

1) 2.5-3-3 does not work particularly well on my Opteron (like stability cuts out 10-15MHz lower--A HUGE drop), but 2.5-4-3 will scale like it did on my 4400+. At which speeds a divider with my CH-UTT is better, so my TCCD is out of the mix for my testing.
2) My temps are a good 10C cooler under load this time (IDK why, I had PERFECT contact last time) but my OC isn't any better--I'll try more volts (I'm only at 1.5V right now). 3175MHz is still my max for now.
3) I have Ricky tweak enabled (and did last time) because I only simply swapped out my 4400+....is there a way to disable it without a whole new install? I have a feeling temps are being negatively effected by it.
4) Is there any setting/configuration that you guys want me to specifically try?

Looks like the 148 I got won't get to 3.1ghz 32M stable on water. Ceiling seems to be about the same as my 144. I'm doing a little burn in right now with Prime (in "large ftt" setting since someone mentioned it was more stressful) at 2.8ghz and 1.3v. Hopefully it'll still be running in the morning. Maybe the burn-in will give it a little more headroom.

Neither...I flashed awhile ago to 704-2BTA with my Toledo and left it....

socrilles, that was on a non-OCing board.....but at least we know it can do 3.1GHz on water!

Would it really matter? Has anyone had a problem with flashing the bios with an Opteron?

I don't see the difference frankly, I'd flash with a P4 in there if it fit and I needed/wanted to update my BIOS.

No Why flashing im using teh 510-1Fix with an 146 0530APMW.
And it works super with my TCCDs.
My new Results in Air. 3000Mhz at 1,36Vcore

No IHS is still on the CPU! I will take him under Water then the Temperatures will fall to the Ground or only cold air will be enough.Impressive is that I can make 2900Mhz at 1,29Vcore.Prime Custom.
