why sell them, would venice be able to do a lot better?
I had to pay for an FX-55
cause i got more than one CAA2C so sell some off to cash up for the new stuff around the corner :)
right now I have a winnie stable @ 2.9ghz with 1.8v that can bust out a 30sec superpi and a low 27min superpi 32m. System in sig. The memory controller is royally pissing me off though as it won't let my bh-5 go above 250mhz 1t, where it can do about 260mhz 2t.
Is it worth it for me (remember I have phase change, a Mach 1) to get this 3500+ even though I am going venice the day they hit stores? How much longer is it likely to be, and how much higher will I hit than the 2.9ghz of my winnie. Will my mach1 be able to handle the heat? And finally, will the memory controller let my bh5 go above 250mhz 1t?
Thanks
That's a decent overclock already. If I were you, I'd wait for the Venice just because these CPUs are good for now, but from what we've seen the Venice will be even better.Quote:

How many have they're AS CAA2C 3500+ under cold with no problems. I've got a chilly 1 chiller coming soon and am prolly gonna run it -15f or lower.Quote:

It's not maxed out yet, think 3400Mhzs SS is possible and 3230Mhzs for PI/3DMark. I think its good for a 269€ CPU =)=) At least it's better than my 3200+ Winnie that did 2800Mhzs on prommy :S
Btw anyone with prommy r404a? Post temperatures please.
Looks like 2.8 with 1.55v is about it for now, heat is an issue if I up the volts. I'm thinking about building a chilled liquid system. Almost have all the parts..... I'd like to get 3.0 out of it.
Btw anyone has a bug that makes the 180 Memory diviser @ multi 11 acts like 166 diviser? Like normaly 180 diviser should be CPU/12 @ multi 11 and 166 CPU/12, with this CPU 180 diviser is CPU/13 and Diviser 166 is CPU/14, but only in multi 11. Weird lol
I finally got mine to run at 2.6ghz@1.6v. I shaved off .1v! It had been running prime for about 20min when I left for work. I consider that promising, before it would fail prime instantly at anything less than 1.7v. I'll be home soon, hopefully it will still be running.
what's the production date of yours?
This looks like the right chip to delve into a64- land with, considering i have a decent watercooling setup to dampen what looks like a fairly high amount of heat. Close to 70C on water sounds almost silly/prescottish!
The FX-55 is a waste of money unless you have money to burn. Especially when there are good overclocking Athlon 64's available for a third of the cost. You wont be able to tell a difference in system performance. You'll get a few more points in benchmarks but my wallet is willing to sacrifice a few points in bungholiomark 2005.Quote:

It depends on how much voltage you have to use. I'm running 2.6Ghz w/ 1.55V now and i'm not breaking 55C in prime.Quote:

Hmm, an old reject?
clawhammers don't report temps right. notice that on a cold boot, temps in the bios will always be around 38-40c? ;)Quote:

Complete stability (Prime, SuperPI, memtest) is the only "full stability"...
it is i have to prime blend test for 24 hours to consider full stabilityQuote:

lookin' good diogojcr, I'm hoping to get either a chilled water setup or phase change soon.
Beautiful, diogojcr! I'm now rethinking my Venice upgrade plan in favor of this CPU - if I could get even half of your oc, I would be very happy. Definitely seems worth the gamble and the odds of getting reasonable performance (though not nearly at your level) look good from reports in this thread.
good job diogojcr! i wish i could have setup like you
anyway wat mobo & ram are r u using?
Judging by his bandwith and his memory speed and timings he is either using UTT or bh-5Quote:

what retailer are you guys picking these up at?
is 3.18 superpi 1m stable at -10C cpu temp a good CAA2C? thats what i got right now.

These 3500+ ASBOX all seems to kick some @ss!!!! :slobber:
Is there non-sucessfull story with those, or are they all able to 2800mhz+++???
I'm really starting to think that THOSE are the deal and we won't see better with Venice...... :stick:
Let's all hope I'M wrong :D
they are not all capable of 2.8
i had one that wouldn't do more than 2.6 ghz with up to 1.75 volts
it's all luck for these things as well... the 3rd one is the one in my sig
Well THAT is good to know. I didn't read entirely the thread (about 75%) and, like most of the time, only success story is spoken :roll eyes:
I'm with shimmishim, they aren't all good. I have a 3 GHz+ SuperPi 1M screenie in this thread somewhere, but the chip only does 2.8GHz stable with an LS. I'm guessing this would be one of those 2.6GHz then wall chips on air. I pretty much just got it to play with anyway, so no hunting for a better one for me.
I would say they're better than winchester and newcastle but not as good as venice (hopefully)
Well got to try mine, I got to I believe 2750mhz superpi 1mable with 1.7v, not sure what the temp was, my bios said about 42c idle but I wouldn't trust it much, not much further testing then I did the 3.3v = vdimm on my neo2 which I just got and it died. Didn't realize, but the guide I followed the board looked quite different than mine lol. I'll be sure to test it and find the spot myself from now on
edit: Oh, this was on air btw, with a artic freezer 64. Not an amazing cooler temperature wise, but it's dead silent :)
Will update with subzero results after I get a replacement mobo.
Stepping is a CAA2C 0506 DPMW
dpmw seem to do the best thats what i have also.
actually, just checked and it's a Cpmw, not a D, any word on how these have been doing? Only C's I recall in this thread were on caazc's. Mine seems pretty good though, 2750mhz with 1.7v and I'm sure it was probably over 50c considering what I've heard so far in this thread. This was not 24/7 stable, but at least 1m stable, didn't test further.
Some ss @ 1,9v with vapochill ls

stable or just a screenshot?
So can any of you people that read this post where you got there processors from and their maximum overclock (stable only) is? I have spent time going through each person writing this down and it seems its 50/50 between new egg and ZZF. I want to know if I shoult order from one or the other or just wait to see if the Venice comes out this week.
Venice testing here

if u still didn't buy one then I'd definately just wait for a venice..
Just ss, stable at 3.100 mhz 1,76 vQuote:

There is one of these at my store here for $300. I'd like to hand-pick this cookie if I can't shoot for better OC on air.
Thanks to the 3 of you for posting your Diagnostics on your clocks. Especially you Dani. 2.6 @ 59c. Man that's sweet. Imagine if you watercooled that.
To Waus-mod: Is that a mail order cooler you got or is that something I can Ghetto Rig myself. I have extensive chemistry knowledge that could help with building such a device.
hello good people.. im new to this site but ive been coming here for info for a long time.
well i ended up with a dep4as caa2c 0508 apmw
i have had it running at 2475 shows clawhammer in cpu-id( 11x225 ) with stock voltage mostly to test temps.
idle is 34c load is bouncing 48-50c with stock cooler, im going to install my alcu Zalman later to see the differance.
im going to have to learn this new board that i just bought , asus A8V deluxe ver 2.0.
had my newcastle a64 3200 on a asus K8NE deluxe @ 2442 stable 24/7 with 1.6 voltage. it is a sweet chip. it would probably do a lot better with someone with more experiance and knowledge, but im a novice overclocker.
i also have some PNY ( sucks ) memory ( infenion ) cl2.5 3 3 8 2 x 512.in DC. i'll surely be looking for some help with getting this oc'd .anyone with knowledge of this board ,im looking for suggestions. id like to see if this will do 2.6 or at least mid to hi 2.5s. i was going to go for the neo 2 p, but after resding all the forums i could find and with what seemed like a lot of issues i decided to try this one. i would rather have had an Nvidia chipset, but the boards that were 939 agp were limited. anyways :toast: to you guys and girls .
don't think I've seen any 0508's or any apmw's for that matter, seems like the newest chip here, let us no how it does when you do some more serious ocing with that zalman
well so far it has been running @ 2.604....236.htx11 with the Zalman it lowered the temps to 32c idle and 44-45c load fresh run in with as5.... ive had it to 2.706 i think it was with 1.5 voltage ( twitching @ 1.52 to 1.55 psu isnt real stable on the 12 v rail ) same temps, but it locked up....havent even raised the voltage yet or tweaked the timings any except tras to 10 2.5 3 3 10... 2.65 was stable and gamed for about 1/2 hour. ran atitool 3d to heat it up,forabout 1/2 hour, temps remained the same thru out 44-45c .. i still had room with it @ 2.7 but im not wanting to push it tilll maybe tomorrow..im gonna let it just sit and burn for awhile @ 2.604.
man i wish i had some good memory!!!! i think this may be one that will hit 2.8+ and maybe be stable @ 2.7 ish - 2.8
i think i may be able to get it to run @ 2.7 stable with what i have now with a little more tweaking... for me stable means i can game with it and not lock up or artifact etc.
ive never run prime or PI dont even know if i know how to set them up !!!!
i think i d/l'd them one time and couldnt figure how to use the program...
hey ...never said i was oc/ or program literate !!!! lol....
Has there been any of these spotted in the UK?
wow...@ 11x 250 =2.750 v core @ 1.6 idle 33c load 45-46 c ...the Zalman is working nicely about 74 ambient temps.
i think i can run a little less voltage.. but im not sure yet... ive looped 2001 se for about 1 hour just testing, im going to leave voltage as is and try for 11x255 = 2805
running atitool and cpu-z + on the net typing this now running 2.750.... im grinnin big time
@11x255= 2805 temps the same no rize..maybe 1c... how do i do a screen shot? and post on here??? thanx
run cpuz (from www.cpuid.com) then press F5, a bmp pic will be saved in the same dir, then covert it to png or jpg using any program and attach it when you post, the attach pic button is in the toolbar right beside the bullets button..Quote:

@46-47c
I received mine from Newegg last week and it's the exact stepping in the title of the thread! This one is a good SuperPI chip: passed 32M at three clocks last night: 2800 @ 1.57, 2880 @ 1.67, and 2880 @ 1.617. The last is the one that counts ;). I would have been happy with 2880 @ 1.67, but didn't think it would be stable even lower.
After passing 32M @ 1.617 VCORE, next up was the two toughest tests I know: 3DMark2003 and 3DMark2005 (damn CPU tests!). I thought 3DMark2005 was the toughest test, until I cleared that on one clock, but blue-screened as soon as I clicked on 3DMark2003 :p:. No problem here. It was already 1:30 am so I quit testing, but the other two Marks will be a cakewalk.
At 2900 and 1.67, it passed SuperPI 1M but locked while loading a level in 3DMark2003.
The mem controller on this one isn't that much better than my two 3500+ CBBHDs, so I don't know whether that's good or bad . . .
I have some VX4000 that do 261, 2-2-2-8 @ 3.3, so guess what 261x11 comes out to??? 2871 ;). I can also run 320x9, 166 divider for 261 on the ram, which should be faster.
I am running a HC200; this chip doesn't run hot at all. Room temp is 21C, water 27.5C, and CPU 27.8C @ 1.617 (digital probe touching the heatspreader).
After I verify stability at 261x11, I will be updating my sig :banana3:.

but...a 600+ overclock !!!! damn!!! on air at that !!! watercooling and good memory and im sure this would hit 3 .0 or better... im happy, i'll run it 24/7 11x240 2640 @ 1.50 volts where it has proven to be solid and good temps.
