Yep, 2124, damn :( The board takes ddr, but I have a 256 stick here also. I'm not using any of it. Just send me something for shipping and it's yours.

That's be sweet, thanks!
Sent ya a PM :)
Fold3 is still behaving itself....
mine are all 2125's.
ETA: saturday.
Doesn't seem like a quick one either.
yeah the 2124 and 2125's are the two notorious ones, might be a couple others but I can't remember them off the top of my head
I think we've lost angry pickles.... :(
I hate that WU. Stanford say it benchmarks just as it should :nono: I'll be glad when it's gone, since all the assignment servers seem to be dealing them out, hopefully that will be soon.Quote:

I hereby challenge the bottom 100 teamies to a race to 20k....ready, set, go :D

Good, bring it on BOB :D
Now I have a 2124 and a 2125. Both are 2 day wu's for 396 points. This sucks
Wish I could chew thru those in 2 days  ........3 to 4 for me :p:
My P3 disappeared off the radar for over a week working on one of those :p: Worst WU's ever. Even worse than those damn silly 44pts ones we got a while back iirc.
A month+ for my 800 Duron........turned her off and boxed her up :)
Closing in on mr. 1337 :p:
Am I in the bottom 100? I'm still under 20k! :D
You be 2 places above the bottom 100 :p:
twice :D
130th and 117th.
Come on guys, step it up......can't beat TPR if you don't outproduce them....get those rigs a folding :)
Actives up to 62 :) .........how's about a few more, get it up to 70 :)
Hey, since we only use about 10 percent of our brains at any one given time, can I use the rest to fold if I hook up a drive and a Cat5 cable to my head?
That's gotta be worth like about 8 cores at least....
You could try........but send your cpu results first
I don't know if they an SMP client written for that yet though...
Just a thought....has anyone sent the inactives a PM telling about the TPR challenge etc and requesting they fire up their rigs? :)
I sent one to a couple of them yes. Hoax got back to me and I guess he ran into some trouble and had to sell his system so he can't fold right now. But he did say he has one in the works now so he'll be back once it is up and running.Quote:

@Sparky, despite these WU's... :CTF:
;) I'm still coming and I want rank 20! :hehe:
Yeah I see you in my rearview mirror :hm:
Finally reach the 5k mark today :)
:toast: Nice going vaio, thanks again for the assistance.
I'm having consistent disasters on the SMP machines, I think since the client has been updated last week I've been getting about 50-60% folding time out of the two c2d's here - the rest of the time they are crashed or sending broken WU or failing to communicate or some other message I care not to read at the moment. Especially when I've been at work all day & one of the WU crash at 8.45am & sits idle for 10 hours before I can get at it again. I shall leave it another day or two & re-assess the situation, otherwise I'm considering moving these two boxes to other projects 'cos I'm not having them sitting idle, or practically idle doing 2125's either :upset:
:toast2: required...
Apparently this SMP client "update" is no help at all. I think they broke it :bsod:
Watch out when I get off this damn 2124/5 train, buddy! :hehe:Quote:

I plan on giving you a run for your money bud!! :CTF:
Also...
I put the HD of fold3 on the secondary IDE channel and so far it hasn't crashed again. Maybe the Primary IDE controller is bad and this will fix it, but SSSHHHHhhhh... Trying to not let it hear me, it might break!
Hopefully I didn't jinx anything
@sparky, well I still have this p4 2.53 to put back together, and I decided not to bother with the soot covered 3Ghz Athlon64 system, instead deciding to give it to an underprivileged, aspiring techie. So, I don't think you'll get much more competition out of me for a while. ;)
GAM you can have place 20 now, I'm done with it :p:

J/k :p:
OK I guess that turning off -advmethods didn't help anything. Both systems I turned it off on got amber cores  Fold5 got a project I've never had before, but it has 250000 steps and is worth 500-something points :D Much better than projects 2124/2125 that have 50000000 steps or whatever it is.
@GAM, yeah I know you are rattling my chain, but now it is my turn ;) You are not a threat anymore again :D
@Sparky, ...I noticed :upset:
FYI, I've also received a new WU this morning. Gromacs #1167, 494pts. 530ppd on 'Main'. Woo hoo, much more like it. This baby will come in, in approx. 22hrs total. :D
400pts more due in this 24hr period (1000pts total) and then another 1150pts due in the next 24hrs. Better but not quite as good as has been in the past.
The decline, lately, of my 24avg can confidently be blamed on all these damn 2124/5's!!!
They're pissing me off so much that I feel compelled to share the dreadful benchmarks I'm getting... as follows:

Bad WU! Bad bad WU! :slapass:
Hey better PPD than I get on those so don't complain too much ;)
Fold4 got project 1166 which is 574 points. Figures though, I want it on my opteron because fold4 is only 1GHz. Core1 will be submitting one of those lame amber WU's in about 9 hours, after that we'll see what it gets. Hopefully 1166, 1167, 1495... one of the good ones :fact:
I think that they should start giving out incentives if you finish a WU at a very early date; perhaps a 2126 in 2 days would give you +75 points onto the WU worth. Just an idea...
I've still got a sackload of 212x projects & 1 or 2 ambers kicking around too, nasty...and I think a fan's giving up in my main rig's PSU  something's make a weird noise in there anyway. On a brighter note, neither of my C2D's has crashed since I had a paddy a day or two ago :D
A 'paddy'?
:hehe: iirc it's a word my dad used, it means have a tantrum, or 'throwing your toys out of the pram' Funny the things you pick up off your parents, you begin to realise it's more than you might like as you get older... :D
If the warranty is out just pop the thing open and replace the fan. Not a good thing to have a PSU fan die as it can lead to the demise of a lot more than just the fan or PSU :eek:Quote:

Fold5 decided it wants to eat its CPU fan for dinner I guess, its making all sorts of noise now
[bltch]
Bugger, we've got guests staying this weekend, which means HTPC has to be shutdown each night (it's very noisy because I still haven't replaced the HSF and performed intended quietening mods)... they're sleeping on the sofa bed in the living room where HTPC lives. They're young too, so they sleep forever
To make matters worse, Main was 97% through a 1167/494pts and got a 'File I/O' error. It restarted the WU from scratch... Argh!!! :upset:
[\bltch]
@Sparky/Jimwah, sorry to hear of your woes too. Folding does seem to be a little taxing on our components...
@Jimwah, re 'Paddy', I figured as much but I wanted to be sure to be sure ;)
@GAM, well look at it this way - more incentive to get those silencing mods done ;) Sorry about that WU too :(
@Sparky, true true. Hopefully will get to some more modding over the Xmas break. On another note, I have to share my new pleasure... :slobber: Dell 24" LCD (2407FPW) coming my way soon for my birthday/Xmas pressie care of my darling wife (with a little additional monetary input from me, of course ;)) .
Oh, by the way..... I seem to have finished with place 19 as well  :D
I noticed. :para:
Well Done  ...and as Jimwah would say :toast: and you deserve this :toast2:
Thanks... I'm just sitting at 18 for a short time. Give me a couple days and I'll be moving on :fact:Quote:

Well according to the stats you are still a "threat" (in a good way). What I think we should be both worried about is ShootStraight is set to smoke both of us in only a couple weeks here! This is a good thing for XS F@H team though so it is all good. But still....Quote:

Looks like we've got some members of the other projects coming over here to help us out for a spell :woot:
Very nice GAM, I picked up a Dell 17" LCD for £40 a few weeks back & have ended up using it on my main rig it looks so nice (compared to my horrible iiyama 19"). I have my chance to finally sort this PSU out tomorrow (powers my x1900), but I've made up for it by hijacking the Gf's A64 Clawhammer to fold in its place for now - and with a bit of luck it'll stay on even after the PSU is sorted ;)Quote:

The modding skills of jimwah strike again - 580w Hiper PSU...dead! :p: hobbling along on a cheap 350w psu for now...not good.
Was that the PSU with the bad fan? How did you manage to kill it by changing a fan? :confused:Quote:

Did you have to solder the fan to the PCB? If so that could have been the spot of error. I have always been too lazy to do that, so I've just cut the wires, spliced the new fan on, and taped 'em real good :DQuote:

Should've been straight-forward enough even for me - if it had involved soldering I'd probably in hospital right now somehow :p:
Well your PPD isn't suffering yet so I guess that 350W is doing OK for the moment, but I would replace it soon ;)
damn my rig keeps on crashing when doing folding for over ~11 hrs; i think the voltage droops too much under load and it crashes and restarts. time for voltmods...
any other ideas?
Try dropping the overclock a little first, it aint stable if it dosnt fold 24/7:D But seriously f@h stress a cpu like no other program.Quote:

Post mortem revealed nothing spectacular, considering the bolt of light that came out I'm quite disappointed really :p: I honestly think some of the casing must have shorted something out, 'cos the fan should've been fine. the fan I put in wasn't reconnected to PSU circuitry, it was hangin from an adapter of the 3pin to molex type, same as the 2x 120mm in the case already  It was an expensive experiment, but it made me smile regardless :D
@jimwah, coincidence maybe?
@scoop, long time no see ;) Funny, I was just wondering about you the other day while perusing the XS F@H Stats. I noticed your PPD .
I recruited somebody to fold for us - texnofobix (I think is the username) should be showing up here at some point once he completes his first WU :D
Nice work Sparky, hopefully he can make up for the e6300@3.2 that keep firing out EUE's about 50% of the way into each WU here http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y68/jandz/furious.gif
**brilliant smily gif pinched from TPR :D**
Well unfortunately we lost the race, but thanks to the others it was a lot closer in the end :)
I noticed those horrid 212x projects are coming through again...
I had those 212x projects on all of my computers not running the SMP client for the past 4 days or so. :(
I have had them exclusivly for weeks on end on my conroe - can't remember the last time i got anything else :/
I am wondering if i should drop the bigwu option just to see something else
joined for the race and thought i'd leave half a core on it! (though i might have a fiddle and put it on one core or something, we'll have to see!

INFRNL
Hello to RwD, texnofobix & INFRNL
@INFRNL, whether or not it's worth running an older machine, depends really - if you have the space & don't mind using the power (especially if you don't pay for it :p: ) then you might as well get it on... and that x1950xt will fold nicely too
My latest acquisition - Athlon 64 3200+ Winchester :)
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...O/IMG_9041.jpg
Got it for free because it was a victim of "CPU-ripped-from-socket" due to the heatsink sticking to it and numerous pins were bent and 3 broken off. Check this out though...
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g2...O/IMG_9062.jpg
Circled are the 3 broken pins except they are replaced! And, the CPU works :D I just bought a mobo from Lithan for it. I have a stick of RAM here I need to test, I'm hoping it works otherwise I'll need to come up with some RAM as well. But hopefully fairly soon it will be crunching for XS. Actually I may put it over on WCG for awhile to help those guys out some for the help they gave us in our race.
i just added my dad's desktop to the mix too.
 cracking job on the pins there Sparky, how did you get them back on so nicely? And what board did you get for it? Good call on the WCG front
I took a piece of thin copper wire that was the same diameter as the pins - actually a strand from a power cord - bent an L shape in it and trimmed it. The original pins are like miniature nails, with a head and the pin. I removed the head of the broken pin so there was just a solder point left, then soldered the wire on using the L shape to give more surface area to solder to. Then I trimmed the wire to the right length. Took a lot of time and several breaks. I made a bracket thingy - for lack of a better word :p: - that held my needlenose pliers in place with the wire since I needed 3 hands. Really crude looking but it works.Quote:

G'day fellow folders!
Bin' layin' low lately... but all cores back up and running full steam (well mostly), but I'm not going all out any more, it's become too disruptive.
Anyway, I've been running full steam for a few days and was wondering why my PPD hadn't picked up. FahMon has been misbehaving so I couldn't check the status of things... well anyway, I got it back up and running, reinstalling with v2.15. Now I see why!!! All cores were running 212x's. Damn they're bad WU's! (btw, does anyone know how to recover past benchmarks from FahMon? Everytime this has happened I lose all history!!!)
Well, lo and behold, one core on Main crapped out and it picked up a 1495 instead.
Just look at the difference below.

ps. @Jimwah, I finally picked up a replacement HSF for HTPC. I took your advice, mainly because I could pick one up nearby, and bought an Artic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro. Instead of just replacing the HSF, I spent the weekend performing the first stage of mods I had in store for the cheap little case:
- Cut out fan holes
- Install top blow hole
- Cut out intake for front fan (previously non-existent apart from the tiniest slot on the bottom)
- Insulate with Noise Reduction pads
- Cable management
- A little black paint for the interior
Result, 15-20c drop in CPU temp. Surprising drop in noise levels. And, this is with all fans on lowest possible speed except CPU which I left connected to the CPU header on the MB (currently not controlled, but maxed).
I have pics of all mods which I'll be putting into a worklog and posting sometime in the future.
Cheers
GAM out.
Yup the 212x are officially the worst units I can remember, even those little tiny projects (99x?) were better than these.
Good to hear the cooler is working well for you, you can't beat it for the price really - and the minimum of hassle required to install it :) I've got one on my 805 here and another on my e6300. Post a link to the project once it's up too  I'm working on a little project of my own here, I've bought a plug-in power meter, and have been measuring the wattage each of my machines draws when it's running a load, & estimating what it costs to run each month. The plan is to thin out the machines & replace them with a few high spec boxes instead, reduce power bill, but still increase the folding power :D
Will do.Quote:

That's exactly the kind of thing, this is the one I've got here. I've not measured all my machines yet, but so far the Dual Xeon is the worst offender, in total it looks as if I may be drawing almost a kilowatt in my computer room at the moment; and that's after I've turned off my 805 & an A64 too  :hehe:Quote:

I like the device. I'll keep an eye out for something similar here. ;)
I'm not sure how much my stuff is pulling, but I played it safe. All the outlets in my dorm room are on the same 20A circuit, which is used by the fridge, microwave, and the computers. Well I added another computer and upgraded one of the others so I ran an extension cord from the only outlet on another circuit (bathroom outlet near the sink :p:) to run a couple of the systems from.
I didn't want to have to ask my RA to get my circuit breaker turned back on ;)
Hard disk's failing in my main folder, the e6300 :( It's up again for now, but for how long I don't know. My list of jobs in the computer room grows ever larger...
My machines are all hanging off one outlet, with a 6-way surge protector plugged into one socket & an 8-way plugged in the other (with another 4 way coming from that!) - nothing's tripped so far (luckily).
i just joined you guys :)
my cpu has too much spare time
