this board gave new life to my corsair 2133 set:)

One of the best all round boards on the market man... Brian would have found this one uber boring as almost any RAM kit directly works out of the box... Kuddos to Nick Shih, the bios team and a bit of Splave...
Gigabyte also improved big time, ASUS went backwards ( Impact was fab, Gene was far less... )
yea this board got me breaking out old and new ram only thing is i cant bring up the bclk on this board it just results in a post rest im testing some psc and its giving me 7 errors which im trying to iron out at 2600mhz 8-12-8-28 so i figure i drop the divider and see how stable going from 2500 but even at 104 bclk it just resets

did the beasts arrive?
Managed this today, had these Dominator GT's 2000 cl8 for a few years now, thought I would see what they are capable of doing on this fantastic board, not bad me thinks. Never really been into Ram overclocking, so a novice so to speak. Not to sure how much further they can be pushed. ??
Also have a set of Dominator GT 1600 cl6 Elpida Hypers, does anyone have any idea what they would be capable of, any help would be appreciated by this Memory noob. lol

quick run to check clocks
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/208/zx7r.png
A lot of fun clocking this board. Your platinum 2133 C9 Samsung will be good to go with it :)
@mismax I wouldn't even bother running 4 dims on this board that would be holding you back, just run 2 dims and then start tightening it all up,you can check lots of subs around and that will show you all the sub timings everyone's is running, this will save you so much time as its a new platform to you.
so not true about efficiency. hypers run great efficiency!

sending some volts thru my old gtr lol
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/160...0/401/is3o.png
Never tried hypers on the ASRock to be honest. On the ASUS boards as I couldn't tighten the TRDRD and the TWRWR value below 5 (always post code 55)... so I stand corrected :) Great run and info Zen
It confirms that ASRock did a excellent bios on these boards, hopefully the same will happen on Z97 :)
Just a quick one from me. Having trouble passing SuperPI @2600, but 2400 not so bad.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...4444444444.jpg
Just thrown in a pair of Crucial Ballistix Sport 1600 cl9, Micron D9's I believe, stock voltage 1.5v, gave them 1.65v for this.

looking good MSImax :D :D
thanks fellas
splave the beasts came i took em out ran them then wrapped them up like mummies lol they only coming out during official business
1 more gtr run keeping @ 7-6-6 took more volts than i was comfortable doing on air

Thanks!
new kits came today im testing these out now
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/89/6vh1.jpg
these do 8-12-8-24 @2600
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/812/3isw.jpg
Looking good, Darnell! Thanks for testing 1066 MHz 8-7-6 too!
Almost like for like, apart from the odd couple of settings, but getting there, lol!!

@msimax, thanks bud, what a great board, we are both learners on this board then.
testing new kit of ram that i got

http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/160...90/20/p453.jpg
these might be the fastest 2Gbit elpida huh TaPaKaH?
gonna work on the timings.
Think this chip has a strong IMC, so should be able to tinker with my ram, still learning though, lol:up:
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...pture777-1.jpg
funny newegg pic has them as hynix
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/160...90/69/8dqp.png
It looks like you have a set of 1866 Elpida's, the Newegg ones are Hynix ic's.
2668mhz, not bad, SuperPI boms out though, "not exact in round", told you I am a noob at this memory overclocking malarky.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...apture8888.jpg
what vdimm you running and did you try to lower vtt?
ddr vtt volt usually half of your vdimm try lowering by .050 do it in windows then run pi see if you a get pass when lowering step by step
I'm about to rip my hair out trying for 2666 8-12-8-28-1T with PSC sticks. I think I finally found the optimal VCCSA/VIOD/VIOA settings but I still can't get through more than about 8 passes of Super Pi 32M.

Sorry folks, whats the latest bios for this board? TIA...
With psc/samsung try to lower RTL settings
Tinkering with bclk straps now, should be interesting, lol, I am determined to get this PSC to pass 32m @2666, slowly getting there.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...apture10-4.jpg
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...apture11-7.jpg
Hi msimax, not been able to boot @ 2666, If I remember I could boot @ 2600 one time, but not even managed that since, lol, that was using the the 2600 pre-set in the bios, 1.92v tight if I remember.^^^ Above screen, very nice.
thx man see where the regular psc profile takes you because i have a set of X-psc thats only good for 2400
Using the "PSC normal 1.65v" pre-set in bios, seems to help, taking cpu ratio and uncore out of the equation for the time being. 2200 @ 1.65v as a starting point.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...apture12-3.jpg
Now at 2400 @ 1.65v, everything else @ stock, looking good for now.

And here's the outstanding 3d performance!!! Next step is memories cold and much more oldschool 3d!

Bully!!!!!
Killing it as usual man, time for that new thread in a few days ;)
just got another cpu 4.6 doable on water but havent tested mem controller yet, this is that last chip im gonna bin lol imma hold out for Devils Canyon
Good luck with the new chip msimax, you got a great board for the job and don't forget the new OC Formula coming
Corsair Dominator GT 1600 C6, Elpida Hypers, going to see what they can go up to, @2000mhz 1.8v, using the "Elpida Hyper" preset in bios.
http://i572.photobucket.com/albums/s...pture95959.jpg
will asrock release a bios to allow 4790k to work on this board?
I?m looking for the same. Will take a 4790K only if is fully supported by Z87 Formula OC /ac. If overclock control is disabled, then there?s no point. Devil?s Canyon is not like a proper upgrade. Is faster Haswell, but that don?t guarantee better or higher OC :(. As what I have read, most chips can?t go up beyond 4600 MHz. A little disappointing.
Binning Haswell is a waste of money :8 Binned 6-7. All were bad clockers.
Hmm, I could do with an answer on DC support too. I'm getting ready to load up on pentium anniversary editions, and might bin a 4790k or two as well. Just depends on if I need a new motherboard or not.
crickets is the sound lol
Is there a DC Bios ready when 4790k retail is coming Tuesday?
Every bios from 1.6 up should work, so really no need to update your bios:

sounds good ill pick one up
Hyper fun!

4790K working great on this board for me, running BIOS 1.91. Another thing to note, VDIMM is darn near spot on; BIOS set 1.9160 and 1.917~1.918 checked with DMM.
contemplating getting the 4790k i wanted to see what my my new 4770k could do real fast, just a up late nite what the hell run only stress tested to see what it could do at full load no benching in my main rig yet. i sold a lot of hardware and just made rigs all over the house so my plan is to maybe wait out haswell-e and use this to bench after im always behind the times lol
http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/834/7djr.png
Nice mismax ,is that water or air?You done any cold benching on the Z87 OC Formula ?
4.9GHz G.Skill 2000C6 Pi at 1333MHz 8-12-8-28-1T Super Pi 32M, Devil's Canyon plays just fine with this board!

I tried to use the latest bios (Z87 OCF)... USB is formatted FAT32 ... this message appears
Did you extract the BIOS image from the RAR?
Normally I unzipped...
Board has the BIOS A P1.80 and BIOS B L1.93 ... latest bios I can not write any of them
Upload bios again .... try it
If any issues , please let me know .

All right... follows to test memories
My 4670k never able to do this with the same clock and volts in XOC (i'm using Kraken X60, ambient is 30' celcius). Also alot better in efficiency. Is it real?? On XOC, 5ghz need 1.4v to do 32M

I dont know if the chip is good or bad, but i'm verry happy with the lottery :D
Quick and dirty test with 4790K on OCFM Z87, Beta 1,63 - afaik, all worked fine, including straps which I tested on second run

finally 5ghz on my main rig lol
