Thanks Stasio
What you after the Pi time using XMP or what the board sets like below? Bit strange btw I got a few more apps to read SPD & they all slightly different lol

Seems I should reinstall lost ~0.4s, or.... 0.2, but made a few improvements (tertiary timings)
Tried that asus memtweakit, which did not work, and then installed the ASRock tool, which didnt allow adjusting timings.... Removed both, but seems OS is a little hurt...
Anyhow, my effeciency in that ASUS tool is listed as 39000 for ram, not sure if it blows a little, or much :)
Also, perhaps I should read up on what the stuff I change actually means, no clue what C2 and C6 package actually is, only that C6 seems to be a little more effecient..
EDIT: Had to bump the maxmem alot, just to get this tiny improvement...
http://img411.imageshack.us/img411/9456/screen031.jpg
EXperience update; I get alot more consistant results when disabling hyperthreading...
But in my case, I tend to get crashes more rapidly, had to increase vdimm a tiny bit to get stability..
I showed this one to hicookie earlier, but think some of you might find it interesting...

I found only the latest version of Tweakit worked for me.
The Tweakit efficency thing imo is nothing to tune for. I can make over 100000 & run 32M by lovering DRAM refresh down to 1250 however the run is crazy slow.
Dunno but keep doing it :D
some crazy nice runs here, i didnt even see Cookies/Dinos latest runs, nice work guys
also a great run from Salske,
i got so much happening right now and ive promised a few people a few things first, but still hoping to do an assault on this challenge before it ends!
plays with some psc chip now, I can not get them 32m stable at 1400mhz C7, but here's a little video they boot up and run 1m :)

CKE#3 finally stable... Puuuh...
Rosty, jeg er næsten ikke misundelig på at kunne køre 1400!!! :)
Trans am, I am breaking OS soon, want to do my 'FUGGER' run, I am sure I've nailed how he made the score.... I need sound driver and WMP or internet access to keep up with him!
1400 cl7. mother effffffffffff!
Failed badly, cant get this CPU 5ghz stable on my win7 :(
Had it running in winxp, but without sound, as there isnt installed drivers, nor a sound card ;)
But; 6m 28.x sec while doing NDA-tweak during 32M :p: I am pretty sure that is what FUGGER did
EDIT;
Covered up the mighty tweak, sorry splave!
please do not discuss trololo tweak here, keep in private
Man am I happy for me this is cranking :D

ive had the tfaw argument before. im inclined to agree with you, it does give a boost, though theoretically it should just default to 16 as its lowest actual value.
I honestly wouldnt know but if so, it could be like CAS 1.5 in the days, improved stability in some cases :)
- And I am squeezing the maximum frequency out of the setup, as for RAM.... It can be that I have been unlucky with CPUs, but I think this particular sample of board is not the strongest out there, atleast.... DDR3-2600 is mission impossible, not even Ethan Hawk can do it...
But you know, on a second thought, I am doing it from BIOS, it might have impact on other subbies, though I've pretty much set everything manually... DRAM refresh interval and the 4. timings, are the only I've not set from BIOS manually - they might be be affected by other timings^^
Nice run Dumo!
Trying a new kit, 46.00 from Sears lol, didnt know they even sold memory. Had a slightly better run prior to this, but screwed up the screen.

CN I see you using memtweakit on the giga. you got a link?
^ Thanks!
Try tightening your sub-timings.
Latency Is lower/better than my 2450 runs, I've seen way better just cant make it stable..... maybe its something to do with the 3570K
I have played with tFAW a fair bit & believe lower works better for me..... on the above run it was set to 5 in BIOS & Memtweakit shows 10 as lowest
All the good stuff is here thanks to Stasio http://forums.tweaktown.com/gigabyte...ity-tools.html
Probably a misreport between software and BIOS for that. tFAW is the spacing between 4 ACT to the same rank and each ACT is spaced by tRRD which has a real minimum of 4 due to bus width (you can check the Intel public datasheet to confirm if you wish).
I did look up the Intel datasheet amongst other things the last time Raja mentioned tRRD/tFAW 4/16 earlier in this thread & although it could be a BIOS/Software report issue its less likely as the apparent performance increase has been found on both my Gigabyte & M.Beier's Asrock so I'm inclined to say there may be more to it.
I may re-test just to be double sure I am getting a boost but not that bothered as whatever works ..... works ay.
I did note tFAW too low @ 2600+ hurt performance so maybe it has a limit of effectiveness
Well unless someone is breaking DDR3 timing rules I cannot see how that is possible. It is a 64 bit wide channel :) Chances are there is disparity between actual value and displayed value.
I agree though, whatever works is okay, just does not hurt to throw some understanding at things sometimes :)
^ exactly, when I started it was very overwhelming to trying and lower everything but now starting to understand the meaning makes things easier :D
3 more chips coming today, hopefully can bench over 2600 atleast one
also upgrade ripjaws bbse skin, epoxied to murdered out dominator skin :) will get to freeze tomorrow if I am lucky

I was thinking of doing something like this to try to cobble my single stage on them as Raja mentioned a few pages back. Guess the spreaders are on there for life with epoxy  was the epoxy anything special?
You're welcome
I re-tested tRRD 4 & tFAW 16 & all the way down to 3 / 10 & can find no gain or loss at all @ 8.11.7 2550  Cant explain why I appeared to get a boost when I last tested all be it at 9.11.8 2450..... Guess that blows that one for me lol
^negative, nothing special. and its easy to remove the spreaders just torch them for like 2 seconds and they pop right off. :)
Yeah, just be careful when pulling them off. Would recommend you guys remove the epoxy on the heatspreaders as that stuff is not very thermally conductive. Corsair rely on the PCB copper plane at the top of the modules for thermal transfer rather than the epoxy.

No, don't replace the epoxy if you are going to be using the Corsair Dominator PCBs with those heatspreaders as the PCB copper plane acts as a good enough transfer interconnect. If you intend to use those heatspreaders with any other vendor module then removing the epoxy residue from the heatspreaders is worthwhile. It's not very thermally conductive and I found with my cascade that the PSC modules I used would not clock to DDR3-2600, as the transfer to the ICs was very poor, with the epoxy basically acting as an insulator. Cleaned off epoxy (epoxy with TIM did not work well) and used good TIM and my BBSEs cold bugged with the PSC ended up hitting DDR3-2600 at CAS 6. It will chip off with a screwdriver and then you can replace it with a decent enough TIM. Hopefully this will take all the guesswork and armchair supposition out for you guys.

Nice scores C-N and Vivi!
Vivi and C-N nice work :)
Previous post updated with a tiny update as a result of my now mandatory quick few runs in the morning before going to work!!!! lol
Yup she's running strong. Thats all I can think the lower 3570K cache must be effecting the latency. I can get it down way lower just cant make it stable lol
Thanks guys

Some absolutely incredible scores in here. I'm in awe at some of the ram clocks achieved and the incredible efficiency that's being shown in here. I knew 32m was a popular benchmark with extreme benchers but this is just something else. :D

Rosty keep working on your efficiency, with the right OS/waza you should be in the low 16 seconds with your settings, probably dont even need c6 1350 to take top spot!
If I have no rampot, can I just wrap up the dimms really well and insulate the board and pour on them directly? Maybe tinfoil?
In late July, I'm gonna sell off half of my AMD stuff, and bench my 2600K/MIVE for points, then sell it off too for MVG and 3770K, then I'll do this too.
hey man, alot of us arent even using a ram pot. 99% of the scores here are all air.
Haha love it :D
I'm in the same boat as you. same pi kit etc.
I was thinking a zip loc bag over the dimms with crushed dice and saddle bag over the rams then I started thinking.
maybe that retarded fan that came with the pi kit is actually worth something.
I got up to this point. its up to you to take it to the next level.
:toast:
@M.Beier and Honda, whatever crap you have between you guys it needs to end. its time to bury the hatchet and move on. this thread is a new milestone on xs for many reasons. there is barely enough room for the 6.20 runs and there is definitely no room for this crap between beier and honda. Whatever it is you guys need to kiss and make up. I'm still trying to get below 6.25 and I'm making ghetto ram pot designs and stupid vids for everyone else because I cant get focused on this contest. The last thing I need is M.beier and honda against each other. Beier, take that "honda is permanently ignoring my posts" message of your sig. that is just adding fuel to the fire. honda you need to either tell him to F off or forgive him. dont ignore anyone. that is what women do. you're not a woman. beier isnt either. Just bury the hatchet so we can get this over with. this is the only thing in this thread that is setting it back from being the best xs thread since the winbond ch5 (bh5 replacement ic thread)
its 4th of july weekend. This is me at my last 4th of july party.
I am going to post this link one time and one time only so you guys forget your woes with eachother and start fresh.

Hmm I don't have that fan, traded my kit off Zen for STT 2200 C8 MGH-E. I don't know if he has the fan or not but I didn't want one anyway.
I think I'll just wrap the dimms in tinfoil, maybe I can throw some old pennies in there, or I'll figure something out.
These take way too much voltage on SB compared to AMD...its crazy.
protect the dimms and slots with vaseline and just get a brick of dice and set a big chunk on top. using the heatspreaders, the dice will cool the dimms. gravity will keep pressure on the dice so its constantly cooling.
Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuutttttt me no likey vaseline!
Well...you know what, I'm open to anything. I've already done that before for short runs and just let the frost build up...
Either $380 CPU or $140 motherboard are dead in my SB setup or even both so I don't think I'll be getting Ivy unless I can get an RMA on the mobo in case that is the problem.
