New bios 1.20 for asrock extreme 4 gen.3
http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.as...%20Gen3&o=BIOS
Just wow, they includded 10.8.0.1303 OROM in new 1.20 bios, claiming "3. Update RAID ROM." - i'm impressed ;)
So once again, here's my modified UEFI for Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 P 1.20I , it's just P 1.20 with newest Intel OROM 11.0.0.1339, use it on your own risk or just make it yourself.
Here is another flavor of the Mod
Modified ASRock Extreme 4 Gen 3 1.20
Changes Made:
1. Updated Intel Option ROM 11.0.0.1339
2. Intel MEI Firmware 7.1.20.1119
3. VGA Bios Build 2120
Note: Once the Bios is updated, upon reboot, the board will power down, startup and update the MEI Firmware, shutdown and reboot normally. Be patient through this process!
Running with no issues on my machine :)
Updated to 1.20 bios and did fresh install of win7 64bit but while writing some dvds kept getting buffer under run so have gone back to 1.15A which has sorted the problem no more buffer under runs.
Thanx a lot p4spooky, I will flash it, did you tried to find and integrate newest lan and marvell firmware ?
@chippy
Are you using your DVD burners on Intel sata ports ? Cause I don't have such a problems on Marvell ports. So this could be related to ODD function - link
@vulture_g7: Thanks for the feedback on the modified bios.
@chippy: Did you flash the modified bios or the vanilla version? - Did not notice any slowdowns on the Marvell ports that I use for optical drive. Looking forward to feedback from @apatch
So far so good ;) update without any problems. I was little cautious because my raid card 9211-8i is very fastidious with what UEFI/bios/orom it cooperates.
Thinking about integrating 11.5.0.1111 orom but it's still alpha, so will not risk borking 4Raid0 and 2 SDDs.
I don't have any DVDs to burn so will not check how it works now. But earlier got some problems when writting DVD/BD even on my previous AMD system, but still didn't found a cause, maybe Daemon Tool SPTD driver or something else.
Still struggling with some high DPC latency peaks which are result of working Utorrent + MSE (maybe netlimiter and Broadcom lan drivers), soon I will found out when I try some cheap Intel lan card soon.
vanilla version its been ok since going back to 1.15a.
What is OROM? and what can upgrade to version 11.0.0.1339
Boot your PC and you will see some Intel info with OROM version at the top of a screen, press CTRL+I which gives you Intel Raid configuration utility.
Here's my old info screen.
http://img835.imageshack.us/img835/9406/imag0667.jpg
Then under windows install right Intel RST version, for 11.0.0.1339 OROM install RST 11.1.0.1006 or 11.0.0.1025, in RST software you will also find actual info of RST and OROM versions (Help/system report).
New Etron drivers (0.111) here:
http://www.station-drivers.com/page/etron.htm
work fine so far for me.
I have install Intel RST but i see the Version 11.0.0.1032 ??
try this direct link: http://www.station-drivers.com/telec...ivers.com).exe
Just got this board as a replacement for my boot-looping Gigabyte. Love it so far, only one thing.
I'm testing at 5GHz, 1.45v, and whenever I start LinX the multi just jumps around. It'll boot into Windows at 5GHz, but as soon as I launch LinX the multi drops to 38, 39, 41, or 47. It just jumps around from there.
bleachigo had a similar issue a few pages back, but I didn't see a resolution. I've disabled all C-states, along with temp throttling and Speedstep. Core current is at 200, from 150. Any suggestions?
Perhaps I'm being daft, but where is the Power Limits setting in the uefi?
In the overclock tab, you set turbo to manual and you should input 250 in both values. A few lines lower there's a current limit setting which must be set to 200 (or higher).
anyone running extreme 3 gen 3 with crossfire? Working ok? What cards? What Bios? I can't get my 6850's to play at all.
Anyone running Extreme 3 Gen3 having issues with LLC? A couple users over at TT having issues with LLC see here http://forums.tweaktown.com/asrock/4...eme3-gen3.html
yeh i was, but given up on anything but level 1, it works
All:
I received several PM requests to make this MOD available on 1.15 version of the Bios. Meanwhile a new Intel Option ROM was released. I have redone the mod to both 1.15 and 1.20.
Modified ASRock Extreme4 Gen3 1.15 and 1.20
Changes Made:
1. Updated Intel Option ROM 11.1.0.1413
2. Intel MEI Firmware 7.1.20.1119
3. VGA Bios Build 2120
Note:
1. Bios updates involves risk and you assume all risk by flashing this modified bios.
2. Once the Bios is updated, upon reboot, the board will power down, startup and update the MEI Firmware, shutdown and reboot normally. Be patient through this process!
Please provide feedback.
@p4spooky
first of all, many thx for your work man! 1.15 works great and I find it a bit more stable at high overclocks than 1.20 - the main reaon I've asked you to patch it at the first place.
Now, I've found out that every firmware after 1.10 has this problem (at least on my system): If you enable usb 2 and 3 legacy support and enable power on by usb keyboard and/or mouse, at shutdown, the psu fan won't stop until the power button is pressed.
So, for now, I had to go back to 1.10 as I need the legacy support and I like to power on the pc with a press of a key at my keyboard. Is there any chance that 1.10 can be similarly patched?
Again, thx for your time and efforts man!
ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 UEFI 2.03 is out.
Just tried to analyse this UEFI without flashing, so far :
Strange thing is that this one got 2 Intel raid oroms ! Backup OROM ? 1st for SATA, 2nd for RAID mode ?
8086,2826 - Intel Option ROM 10.8.0.1303
8086,282a - Intel Option ROM 11.0.0.1339 google says Mobile SATA Controller [RAID mode]
8086,162 - Intel VGA Bios Build 2126
Newest Intel MEI but I don't know which string it is.
So if I want to replace UEFI OROM with latest 11.1.0.1413, should I replace only first string 8086,2826 or 8086,282a too, I hope p4spooky will know answer for this. ;)
@apatch: I looked at this as well. 8086-282A Option ROM has the same "DEVICE ID-2822" as the 8086-2822 ROM. I am confused why this ROM was added. I think it is safe to update BOTH 2822 and 282A with 11.1.0.1413 Option ROM although 282a is most likely what is invoked during runtime. IVB also requires the latest ME Firmware (latest is 8.0.3.1427 being used on Intel Z77 boards) - I have not confirmed exactly what version is in this BIOS.
It would be safe to firstly flash original 2.03 UEFI, if in normal working mode 11.0.0.1339 would appear then for me it is enough, if 10.8.0.1303 then there's a reason to update OROM.
This time I will not be the first one to try this beta, in 2.03 there's some info that "After flashing this version please flash newer versions only!" so getting back to L1.30 and older could not be possible due to MEI update.
Hexedited 8086,1502 string suggests that something might have changed in hardware booting procedure, my LSI card is demanding enough in that matter, if something is not broken then it's not needed to repair...
Awaiting for some beta-testers replies :)
If you need to flash to a older UEFI after the update I doubt you will have a problem doing so but flash from PURE DOS ONLY.
It doesn't changes a thing, I never flashed from windows.
Users on Italian board says opposite, downgrade isn't possible until someone proves otherwise in practise, not in theory and they seems quite happy with new UEFI. I will stay with my previous UEFI untill someone successfuly downgrade UEFI, few more different UEFI versions appear, or someone with similar configuration says it works without problems. BTW. ASRock X79 Extreme11 seems to be best SATA/RAID ports solution so far it only proves that they know what RAID card users expects from them ;), compatibility with other external cards seems to be a lot better than other manufacturers.
This isn't the first time the intel MEI has been updated in the UEFI. People have been flashing back and forth UEFI versions with older and newer intel MEI versions without even realising it for some time. The only reason you are now being told not to flash to a older UEFI is for the people who plan to use a IB CPU as flashing to a UEFI with a older MEI version in systems with a IB CPU will surely result in a system that won't POST because it won't recognise the CPU.
Because like any manufacturer, they have a duty of responsibility to make sure people don't needlessly update the UEFI in case of a bad flash or something which naturally means RMA requests go up. I have issued the exact same warning to people and with my own modified files, the only difference is that I clarify those cautionary words so theres no confusion which is where the confusion has come in here - Asrock could of worded their cautionary words better.
btw, the new beta UEFI for the Z68 Fatal1ty mobo looks freshly updated like the Z77 model. Let me quote the user who posted in my VR Zone thread cos the effort was all his.

I'll jump on the new beta UEFI as soon as I can for the Z68 Extreme4 and let you all know how it is, I'll try to find time to flash the beta UEFI for the P67 E4 as well.
So I first flashed new beta 2.03 but it seems than OROM stays 10.8.0.1303, hard to check but probably in all modes : IDE,AHCI,RAID, maybe new 11.0.0.1339 is only active with IB CPU. Got some problems with Windows activation after that but let's say it's my fault, and this no place to continue this ...
Then made new UEFI with newest OROM for 8086,2826 string - after flashing it, still 10.8.0.1303 is showed so I made both 8086,2826 & 8086,282a strings with OROM 11.1.0.1413 and now it works properly.
Here it is, use it at your own risk. Z68E4G3 2.03 with Intel OROM 11.1.0.1413 (file is name as original cause have some trouble when name was changed)
2.03 looks like on pictures above but with a blue color instead of red, same new functions but didn't tried it already, I'm missing some handy boot codes that were displayed in right lower corner after 2nd system start cycle (In my case system cycles 2 times, second is after LSI card initialisation), but thank god that it still works on mainboard display.
Link to bios removed, Asrock f*cked up something .
PM me with a link to the UEFI tools you use, its time for me to pull some code apart before I move to a Z77 Extreme 6.
For the Z68 Extreme3 G3, the new 22nm savvy beta L2.03 UEFI now looks real spiffy like this! Screenshots done by a happy OCN forumer I helped.

Tell me how to find it, cause there's no info in any intel software and device manager under MEI class, any reply for my PM ?
@Ket
Searching some info about MEI hardware version information just found this out link "ASUS try to implement latest ME8 in their BIOS's for P67/Z68 (last two weeks) series and now customers have a serious problems, since they cann't flash back.." ,Stasio is a reliable user for me so I'm little worry about it, if anyone try to downgrade UEFI we will know it for sure, until then it's still unclear for me.
edit: link to software and how to edit UEFI is somewhere few pages before, nothing more is needed - in italian z68 topic.
Flashing from pure DOS (NOT instant flash) fully erases the ROM chip as well as the boot block, so for Asrock there should not be any issue. You can't take what you hear about one manufacturer as gospel for all manufacturers. In fact I know Asrock aren't using the latest MEI in their beta UEFIs, its a touch older, more than probably because they already knew about the issue and circumvented it.
I'm using BIOS ver 1.20, and just purchased a Yamakasi Catleap 27" 1440p display running from my 7970.
Other 7970 users have it working ok, but unfortunately mine doesn't show any BIOS screen or posts - just shows windows loading, but works fine in windows from its Dual-DVI link.
I've tried both the internal Z68 DVI link and the 7970 - and neither show the BIOS screens (only once in windows) - Anyone had any joy with either a Hazro or other 1440p screen? thanks.
These are monitors without ad board and they work this way, maybe users with other brand 7970 have more luck.
"It's an absolute bare bones monitor with no OSD, but a high quality LG panel. It also looks like you can get a few variations of it including additional inputs, speakers, and a glass front."
http://www.overclock.net/t/1225919/y...p-monitor-club
http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=1675393
Some users have the same brand as me (Sapphire 7970) , and it works fine for them. Hence why i'm after a BIOS update which will sort this.....
Just a shame it looks like asrock has pulled the latest 2.03 beta bios from its website aswell now!!
If are using dual-link DVI and only 1 display then maybe your model (specimen) is in some way different, this panels/monitors are known as some post-production worse products, maybe this one got this flaw.
I was reading few days ago about this monitors and was ready to buy 2 but after some reading gived up so far, if you ever find some solution please inform me. Once had similar problem with Ati cards in bios, I was struggling with EDID, powerstrip, etc but just give up, problem was solved after gfx card and monitor change but no my displayport connector is still unused because of similar problems.
Try using old skool VGA or DVI connection, sounds more a monitor issue than anything else.
Seems that 2.03 was a buggy bios, that's why was removed from sites, maybe it was problem with XMP Ram Profile or something else (just realised I do not see my 2 optical drives DVD/BD on Marvell controller maybe this either).
2.04 was released, I will try to mod it and upload it today.
You need to set the Marvell controller to be bootable if you want to see/boot from your optical drives on that controller AFAIK.
Thanx but I don't want to boot from this controller, it interferes with my raid card when enabled, I will check later cuase of my problem is new UEFI or marvell drivers/software.
edit:
Seems that disapperaring drives on Marvell controller only happen to me in IDE mode, in AHCI all is ok
And about no option to get back to old UEFI read for yourself and judge - link
Z68E4G3 2.04 with Intel OROM 11.1.0.141
i have an ASUS WS REVOLUTION motherboard and am thinking about switching to the ASROCK EXTREME 7. What do you guys think? yea or nea?
no one?
well i picked up an ASROCK EXTREME 7 for a tremendous price and going to sell my ASUS WS REVOLUTION :]
I have the Ext7 Gen3 board and love it. Once setup properly it's very stable and a good ocer. Good luck with your new board :)
The point is that I have all Intel ports occupied with 4 HDD(SATA2) & 2 SDD (SATA3), only some LSI ports (SATA3) are free, If I'll ever want to boot from BD/DVD then will enable marvel boot option + IDE, it will work in dos. Form my luck got almost all bootable isos on my multiboot usb pendrive.
New beta UEFI L2.05 for Z68 Extreme4 Gen3:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/beta.asp?Mo...xtreme4%20Gen3
and official L2.10 for Z68 Extreme3 Gen3:
http://www.asrock.com/mb/download.as...%20Gen3&o=BIOS
so these new bios is for the 3rd gen CPUs?
If I have a i5 2500k I wouldn't have any advantages would I?
The beta bios 3.02 for the p67 profesional fatal1ty board is messy,
do not use it if you have an old i5 2500k cpu,
I lost the sli, 2 rams and the ability to overclock above 37x.
I sincerely apologizes if I've ruffled any feathers in the past.
I'm stuck in a serious corner and i crying out for help!!!
Was having issue with my crossfire, after system resume from sleep, I would get BSOD within an hour (bios 1.3). Landed up removing second card for 3 months just for a stable system. Updated to beta L1.34 and it didn't fix issue. Decided to swap my AMD 6970 crossfire to an Nvidia 580 and 460 (for physx), then system wouldn't POST. system would POST fine with either one nvidia card but not both. This was about 3 weeks ago, with IB coming out i checked and here was a new beta bios L2.04. Put in second GFX and voila POST no problem, went straight into BIOS to reset OC. Unfortunately the bios wouldn't recognize my ram's XMP and even manually wouldn't POST. After some trial and error with timing and voltages i found a stable ram setting, with no CPU OC.
Unfortunately, when i then proceeded to windows I got a windows boot error ( something like 0xc00000e), figured the MBR got screwed up with all the failed posts. Tried to repair MBR but not go. I wipe the drives and tried to reinstall but windows refused, and gave an error, " make sure this drive is bootable in bios" something along those lines.
After some time , i risked downgrading BIOS all the way to 1.0, however even there i had an issue installing windows. I reloaded L2.04 and still same problem. I found that if i disabled or ran intel sata at anything but with a RAID array setup (i.e RAID mode with no array), I was fine. installed windows and tried to setup my array again, but after reboot, same problem. I also get a message after post stating "insert boot media .... press enter" if i just press enter it goes.
I have a feeling that the ME firmware flash the first time i updated to IB L2.04 was a bad flash, but system still runs (just without my Intel RAID). I've only seen my system update ME once even though i've flashed {L2.04 over L2.04, 1.3, 1.1, L2.04} Not sure if this is a general beta issue or my system specific, is there a way to re-flash the ME firmware?
Any other suggestions?
I use Revodrive3 for OS & 4x WD6400AKS RAID 10 vertex 2 50Gb SRT accelerated for programs/storage (the former is currently disabled)
These P2.10 versions are being hosted but not yet officially listed so no release notes. Maybe you can take the cue from the Extreme3 Gen3 release notes and driver download list instead, that model has been officially listed.

Hi,
For those who have flashed their Z68E4G3 with P2.10, can you tell me if it added support for DDR3-2400?
Thx.
dbl post - sorry.
You get to see this range ff you use an Ivy, options opened all the way to DDR3-2800 actually
http://i1181.photobucket.com/albums/...3/2d6c3668.png
That's awesome - cheers for that.
Do you know if DDR3-2400 is an option for the 2600K in P2.10? I only ask because the intel datasheets for the 2600K say it supports upto DDR3-2400, and the previous beta bios L2.05 only went as high as DDR3-2133. it would be great if the new P2.10 went all the way to DDR3-2400 for us SB owners :P
Only for Ivy cos when I put back the Sandy 2500K, the range went back to 2133 max again.
Anyone using 2.10 with a SB cpu? Curious if its worthwhile upgrading from 1.15b.....
I flashed P2.10 on my Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 and I am using an i7 2600K and all seems ok to me.
I have noticed that you can use slightly lower vcore with P2.10 then L2.05, however I'm confident that it is only because LLC 1 is more aggressive then earlier and vcore seems to jump a fair bit over your set vcore when under extreme load (ie. Prime95, OCCT:LINPACK, etc).
Still, it seems to run a little cooler at idle and under general use, and doesn't look to run any hotter when under extreme load - so it's kind of a welcomed bug, if you could call it a bug.
There is still no support for DDR3-2400 with SB though, DDR3-2133 is the max you can set in the bios, and anything above that can only be achieved by raising your BLCK. But that is no different to all previous bios releases, so it isn't a negative.
I have not checked, but tbh I don't feel there is a need to downgrade from P2.10. It is as more stable then the early 1.XX bios releases, and is as good as L2.05, with the addition of what I mentioned above.
SO after flashing 2.10 will it not let flash back to older bios?
Z68E4G3 2.10 with Intel OROM 11.1.0.141
Sorry but in a little hurry I accidentally uploaded L2.04 UEFI with modded OROM instead of P.2.10, now link and UEFI is corrected and tested by myself !
There is one bug introduced after v.1.10 which I'm worried that it may be there on 2.x versions. Would you mind to try a couple of settings (nothing too time consuming, unrelated to overclocking) and tell me how it behaves? If so, please let me know and I'll PM you if you don't mind. Thx!
I can't find a log right now , but even 11.0.0.1339 (which is includded in official UEFI but not used, maybe it activates when IB CPU is there) brings some sata power management changes which could be crucial in case of using SSD drives, it's a cure for lots of people with OCZ and basically SandForce drives.
If someone grabbed my wrong UEFI, please get the right one and flash again !
@reaver_shado
Just found out it today that MBR corruption after 2.03 UEFI was fairy easy to repair. Got 2 systems and in the first system (SSD) I just recovered old MBR from acronis backup, for the second (4Raid0) I got no backup so I was looking for some solution, Win 7 Recover DVD didn't helped much but after starting it I just executed from cmd "bootrec.exe /fixboot" command and this time my system started. :)
Hi All, first post. I called tech support yesterday about the P2.10 BIOS and since I am using SB i7-2600K on Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 they told me to not use it. The new UEFI looks great. They said it was for IB only. :(
But based on the above, I am willing to do it. Has anyone else using SB tried it?
^ Thanks for posting. I'm still mulling it over.
Sooner or later you will have to update your UEFI cause there will no 2 versions of it, 1 for SB and 2nd for IB, updates are made to eliminate bugs resolve some conflicts so I don't underastand these tech support "specialists". I would translate it to "we don't want to have problems with you so do not update" but when all is ok then it's really not need to break it. I have no more problems with these new UEFI, initial MBR problem could correlated with something elese and user's fault but it's solved already. I want to have a new options so I will update it when new final UEFI appear, but betas are always risky.
Dunno if anyone else noticed, but new Etron drivers are out:
http://www.station-drivers.com/telec...ivers.com).exe
Hello friends, I have a extreme4 gen3 z68, upgraded to 2.10 and everything goes as well as before, but I noticed that after the initial post, stop listening to the "beep" of the post, my system starts up and everything runs fine, but without the "beep" initial.
Not do I see at the bottom of the screen, the system boot codes as before. Is there some setting in the UEFI that I listen again to the "beep" and the initial debug codes on the screen?
Don't you have bigger problems?

Guys after flashing UEFI/BIOS to the new 2.10 i cannot enable my SLI in Nvidia control panel. Already tried a clean instal of windows7 same thing..The cards are OK tested each one of a time, the two cards appear on Windows Device manager.Things were very well before i flash BIOS/UEFI to newer version.
My current hardware:
-intel core i7 2600k
-ASRock Z68 Extreme7 Gen3
-G.Skill kit extreme 3 2 PC12800 Ripjaws X CA X 2 GOS6
-2 EVGA Geforce 680 GTXs SLI
-Coolermaster Real Power Pro 1000w
Any suggestions?
Can you please give more detail, i.e what slots are the cards in, driver version (have you tried the beta 301.24), and provide a screenshot or describe whats going on in Nv Control Panel.
Is Configure SLI, Surround, PhysX menu showing up? If so are there 2 680's showing up in the physX menu?
am i correct in assuming the drivers/bios on the first page of this thread are the latest and is that the order to install them in?
anyone please?
I think you hit the nail on the head regarding tech support. I'll update this weekend. Looks like the latest is still the 2.10 posted 5/10?
Thanks.
I am having a problem with my Ex4 Gen3!
Every time I copy something big with a USB device, my PC has a BSOD after about 5 minutes!
I am thinking something to do with the USB drivers? I have tried both USB 2.0 and 3.0 but still the same!
ok a little confused from reading some of this, so which is the best bios for the ASROCK Z68 EXTREME 7 GEN3?
THX
Everything went okay except now I have an Unknown Device in Device Manager. Will load a backed up image and compare devices. Also it defaulted to IDE mode and a BSOD on first boot. Also had IGP enabled and Windows 7 found & installed the driver for it. Ack!
EDIT: It was the Intel Smart Response or Intel something for IB turned on. Disabled it and Unknown Device disappeared. Quite a few more options in 2.10.
