Guys i have big problem ...
Today i mounted my second 570 and here we go:
1. When i plug two card like in manual - no sli
2. When i plug to 2th pcie slot and 4th pcie slot - no sli
I try with different gpu drivers, with/without sound card etc. Always the same thing: two cards are in system, but no sli, one of card has UNKNOWN bios, but when i put only one card - everything is ok. Both cards have good bios etc.
Here screen how that looks:
http://www.abload.de/img/beztytuuhqk4.jpg
OK, i will try
you set the dip switches to on ?
Yes, all switches are ON, in bios i see two cards ( both on 8x pcie native ), only in system i cant run SLI, and second card has code 43.
Is this a a brand new Win 7 install or an old one from another motherboard?
In device manager try un-installing the device then reboot. Upon re-boot wait for Windows to recognise the new VGA device and wait for the prompt to say the device is either ready to use or reboot request. After the reboot you may need to re-install the GPU drivers again to set SLI.
If that does not work, you may have to reinstall the OS as originally suggested.
-Raja
OK, Raja - reinstall in progress, because nothing working: reinstall gpu drivers etc.
One question to you, which set is better: GPU in 1 and 3 slot ( like in manual, but 8x pcie ), or GPU in 2 and 4 slot ( nf200 and 16x on both cards ) ?
The reason should be AVX. Sandy Bridge supports AVX and Windows 7 SP1 enables the usage of AVX. Since the newest version of LinX supports AVX, the new instructions of Sandy Bridge are in use. When you have stability issues with SP1 your cpu simply isn't stable anymore because of AVX.
When software uses AVX-instruction set there can be a massive performance bump - just like LinX does.
Either you don't use SP1 and AVX or you install SP1, use AVX and try to get your cpu stable again.
BTW: I had the same "problem". ;)
thanks for for your request MusicIsMyLife;)
but AVX love big Vcore !
too be ok at linX i put 1.52V !
is it very important to turn on AVX for games ?
Thanks
I don't think so - for now.
AVX is a new instruction set, only used by Sandy Bridge so far. Up to now software developers didn't have a real benefit using these instruction set. But this may change when AMD Bulldozer is launched. Bulldozer is rumored to support AVX, too.
When there is enough hardware in the wild supporting AVX it becomes more interesting for developers to support it. And maybe even in games.
In Benchmarks like 3DMark Vantage I didn't notice any difference between Windows 7 and Windows 7 SP1.
Thanks ;)

How are the new BIOS??
1409 , changes Over 1407 – adds bios rom flash back -> from one rom to another -> to fix problem of BCLK unable to change.
‘System will shutdown to do BIOS Flashback. Do not turn off AC while you see the ROG Connect LED blinking. It will take up to 8 minutes, please be patient.’

I think the same - this is software problem. But one thing ... fresh system, fresh drivers - problem, old system etc. - problem :/
I remember this bug, was the gfx card bios causing this problem, in fact I flashed a very very slighty moded bios to my card ( not moded via nibitor ) and seems to was OK, bios crc etc .. but motherboard was definetly not OK to make them function in SLI, each card alone was OK, but together gave me that error, I flashback to ORIGINAL bioses, and all was OK even in SLI, so my proposition to you, try a different BIOS ?
I will try this :)
Because maybe you have right. I flash this new one card with bios from second card. Maybe here is problem.
UPDATE:
Still the same :(
I think ... problem is with mobo.

Thanks now 1409 work
Edited
Malik has solved problem with SLI. Just flash all two gpu's from evga vendor vbios.

COOL !
it s possible to flash GTX580 TWINTECH bios to GTX580 EVGA bios ?
Thanks
What settings do you guys use under the DIGI+ VRM settings.
Hi
i put this too be stable at 5Ghz

Can someone please advice me which PCI-E slot I should use for a 16x/16x SLI configuration?
8x/8x is better than 16x/16x? That's odd isn't it? Is there a way to do 16x/8x then?
Not without one card using the NF200.
I confirm the SLI problem (I have two 580 GTX)
It just don't wont to work with the latest 1409 bios . With 1485 is fine.
When using 1409 , with any driver up to 270.X it doesn't give you the option to select SLI in nvidia control panel . Only thing you can select is the physx processor .
If you try with the 275.X drivers and select SLI , the nvidia panel freezes and the 2nd VGA gives a yellow exclamation in device manager .
Hi,
Are you running stock GPU BIOSes? If you are:
Try uninstalling the second card via device manager, and then reinstall, wait for standard VGA drivers to install and then reboot and reinstall the nV drivers.
If that does not work then a reinstall may be needed.

Cannot change tWR, it goes back to value from bios after i hit apply.
Stupid question but should I use the red or black memory slots first for my dual channel memory?
Also my cpu core voltage is 1.04V, what should my I/O voltage be set to so that the spread is correct?
Thanks.
CPU is at 50x100 with mem 2133 :)
I'm more looking forward to the GPU based tweakit soft...
But ... what changed from the previous M4E BIOS and now it doesn't work ?
Any recommended voltage bumps for running 16gig of ram?
2600k @4.8g 1.425v
16g 1600C9
I bumped vccio up to about 1.096 and ram is 1.5, but just want to know if theres anything that might help cpu overclock or lower vcore considering the 4 sticks of ram :)

initial test of b3
confirmed my b2 degraded on voltage
it was the board. voltage via dmm degraded on it.
this time no more stressing lol
Is there one who can show some bios photo of how they have set skew
could well run the 105blck on my Asrock xtreme6 but bios was not as great as on this motherboard, it has far more bios options.
max locked at 100.7 blck here:confused:
Look here for some guidelines.

That actually explains the issue - if two BIOSes have resource allocation tables shifted this might cause an issue with PCIe device recognition and conflicts within the OS if you are switching between them. 1407 and 1485 are similar in build (only a few minor changes). As a rule it is wise to clear CMOS completely and start with all settings again from scratch when switching BIOSes.
Which BIOS combination did you have on the board prior?
-Raja
this board rocks, been using it for about a week now. still gotta find a safe 24/7 overclock on air for 2600k. also, has anyone managed to get RC bluetooth working with an android device? i've had no luck with two different devices.
yup, i've pushed the button and the bluetooth logo lights up (which seems to disable bluetooth?) and my devices are paired. whenever i load the app it just says unable to connect to server or something.
also had a few other questions:
1. i only have a single sata iii drive and am wondering if i should use the jmicron controller or marvell. any difference?
2. what exactly is EZ_PLUG1 for (the molex connector on the board above the pcie slots)? is it for providing more power to the pcie slots and do i really need to use it?
3. what is the lag/latency issue with the NF200 that everyone keeps talking about? i have 3 cards in x8/x16/x16 and am wondering how i can tell if i have that issue.
1. Use either the Marvel or Intel ports.
2. It is for providing additional power to PCIe - only really needed if you are overclocking multiple GPUs.
3. Easy way for you to understand; imagine a home network, where the modem is connected directly to the LAN port of a PC - the communication between both devices is "direct".
Now imagine the same network where you have a router or switch between the modem and PC. You now have an additional hop for the exchange of data between both devices and that hop incurs a small time penalty.
The usage of an NF200 is similar, there is a small delay for interrupts between the CPU and device. The impact of this varies, and in some configurations it can be better to avoid using the NF200 slots, due to that latency. That all being said, the latency penalty is not generally discernible in real world usage scenarios (a 4FPS loss on maximum frame rates when the average frame rate exceeds 90FPS for example).
The NF200 is used so that multiple cards may be used in tandem where there otherwise would not be enough PEG lanes and/or to provide support for quad SLI (where possible).

as my asus pro board died last night got a m4e now, BIOS 1204. Should i update to 1303 or is the 1204 all right for good clocks ? ;)

Hello to everyone.
Well I bought this beast the day past yesterday. After I assemble a WC and everything, I plug this thing and turned on. It's amazing.
But I Have one problem... I plugged my 3 hdd which are all of them sata 2.0, I used the sata6g_e1 and e2 for the optical drive and the esata connector from the rig.
Then I used sata3g_3 for the OS hdd (which is one WD of 320gb), then on the sata3g_4 I used another disk and then another on the number 5.
The thing is that the mb doesnt recognize any one of the disks when I plug all of them. But when I only use the os disk, it works...
What could it be?
Thanks in advance!
Well I could and couldn't solve it... Why?
I tried each hdd separatelly, and the problem was with the 1TB hdd, it is a western digital green 1tb ears.
When it is plugged, the system wont boot.
What can I do?
Because I saved my back up there... I'm crazy now with this
in general, how do you guys feel about the "auto" overclocking features that the board has? are they actually stable/usable overclocks or is it best to manually change all the settings? i briefly tried both 4.2ghz and 4.6ghz using the "cpu level up" setting in the bios and they seemed to be fine, although i didn't run any extended torture testing to make sure. also, when i set it to 4.6ghz, it set the vcore to 1.35v. is that safe for a 2600k 24/7?
1.35v is fine for 24/7 usage providing temps are ok. In my experience the auto over-clocking generally over does the voltage, so manually doing it is more efficient.
Anyone can tell me what's the latest BIOS? I'm on 1303 currently.
1303 is the latest on asus' website. however, if you search through this thread i think raja posted a newer one. i haven't had any issues with 1303 so i probably won't try the newer one and i'm not sure what the changes are.
EDIT:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...0#post48521201
I didn't update the bios but I installed everything about drivers.
This is driving me mad... I have many issues with hdd...
1st this 1tb hdd that doesnt let the system boot or at least let me get in the bios.
2nd, now the system wont automatically boot, after the bios log a little "-" appears at right top cortoner of the screen and windows never starts unless y get in the bios and boot from the disk using one of the buttom options that is on the boot section...
I certanly don't know how to manage this... please help!
I have the ahci mode enable from the beginning, I mean I installed windows 7 prof... and everything having ahci enable.
Thanks!
Well about the "-" that came out of nowhere.
It appears when I set the optical drive as first boot device and the hdd with the os as second.
It seems that when the optical drive is empty the system stays there looking for something.
If I put a cd it waits for five seconds and the boot from the hdd, like it should does when the optical is empty.
What I did now to use the system in a normal way until I find out a solution was to set up directly the hdd with the os as first boot device.
With the hdd of 1tb I still can't make it work.
Do you think that could be a bios issue?
I will se if it has the last version or I will update.
This is the most powerful, in theory, motherboard I have had and is the one that more troubles gave me...
But I won't give up, that's is how it works :p
Thanks in advance to everyone
Try enabling "hot plug" in UEFI BIOS on the SATA port that your 1TB HDD is connected to.
-Raja
Plug your 1tb hard drive with the backup into an esata port on backplane of your motherboard. Should pickup just fine and boot into recovery with your win7 cd/usb
Might want to set the controller your cdroms are on to ide see if that makes a difference with them on startup.
Well I plug the 1tb hdd with hot swap enable and if I plug it while I'm on windows it freeze al the system.
If I let it plugged and reset, then I can't get further than te log on with the Asus rog.
And another issue is that if I leave as first boot device the optical drive and as second the hdd with the os. The system stays freeze trying to boot with the optical no matter if it doesn't have anything inside. Seems like the bios can't get to the another boot device if the first one didn't boot. That's weird.
And if I left a cd in the optical drive, the system check of it is booteable and if it isn't it goes within 5sec to the another boot device.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
anyone having issues with AI Suite II, in particular the monitoring? every once in a while i see inaccurate warning alerts pop up in the lower right corner right above the notification area. problem is the warnings aren't true at all. right now it thinks my NF200 voltage is 0.00v. i've seen similar alerts like CPU PLL voltage at 0.00v, one of the case fans at 0 RPM when it clearly was on, and other similar alerts.
if it is only zero volts warning, I saw QPI volts at 1.9, CPU volts at 2.0 volts sometimes... I just deinstalled it... not worth running anyway plus it eats resources...
ROG connect or Turbo V solo install... no idea though why I should adjust Bclock if not benching... and if I bench it's ROG connect or the ROG panel...
Couple of memory questions.
1. Anyone able to get the 2400 memory option working? I've tried with my GTX3's and it fails to boot, they work fine at 2133 though.
2. GTX2's work very well, but my Dom GT's 2000MHz 7-8-7's hang at either S8 or 58 post code. I would really like to run the C7's for SPI32M.
Got my new CPU.... :D
I love it. Together with the MIVE it just rockz ;)

I would like to ask...
There is any kind of issue with the Marvell Controller on this board or something like that?
I have a b3 revision and in order to make work all my hdd, even the one from 1tb that I previous said that didn't work. In order to make all of them to work, I had to disable the marvell controller, why is that?
Thanks!
Here are my bios settings:

But not every cpu is that good. batch doesn't say much about oc anymore...
thx mate. it seems u got a great clocker ;)
Thank's to Asus for this fantastic Motherboard::clap:
Next i wil try the new Bios with the Memory tweaker tool !

woow.. great mem clock :D
which bios would u test now ??
Been having issues with this board recently, most of the time when I restart it will just enter BIOS every single time. Even without a keyboard plugged in so that it would be physically impossible for me to hit delete. Also, no errors like cpu fan that would cause it as far as I can tell. Anyone seen anything like this? Happens with both 1204 and 1485
I'm running in to some issues myself... Been running 5Ghz with 1.376v for a long long time, yesterday everything was fine but today I got 45 post error with both bios...
