Hard to say, I think most of the better chips are from early batches but it is like a lotto TBH. GL

You were thinking of posting, and then deciding that it is a good idea to post in 1920x1080.... In a forum? Mind me asking; Do you see the problem?
My new toy!

Dislike :p:
It's funny my chip benches 5775Mhz but for a LinX run @ 5G I need 1.38v + LL2 = 1.41v. You would think these chips running at 1.35v for prime would be able to have a higher top end? I suppose it comes down to what multis work, 55, 56, or 57, hard to say.
Yeah, that's usually the case. Good chips would do good in low-volt action too usually. I've been running with this for 24/7 lately. Haven't push the chip over 1.3v yet tho.
4.2GHz(42x100) 1.17v 30-min Prime small FFT :)

I have been thinking what is holding back with these SB cpu's.. I have chip wich can do 54x 100bclk just fine but i cant get 55x work at all in windows. Then i try to put 103bclk and then my max multiplier is only 53-54x. At 106bclk it will work only with 51x multi. So could it be more MHz limited thing or is this all because of mine Asus P8P67 vanilla mb? I will get gigabyte board tomorrow to see if it helps a bit or not. I have tryed all voltages without any help. Only good thing is that this chip wont need too much vcore :)
Just curious if som1 have lilbit more experiment about this thing with many many chips tested!
I went thuogh all pages i may have missed it but anyone see 044A892 before?
Thats a newer batch. So no.
Yeah there is a L045A912 on the bay but couldn't find any info on that either...

I got a L041B702 batch, anyone got info on it?
Ugh Daddyjaxx you could get a seizure just continuously staring at your avatar!

Noctua NH-U12P SE2
Asus P8P67 (BIOS 1204)
Exceleram Red Culvert DDR3-1600 6-8-7-24 2 x 2GB
Quick and dirty 5.1GHz :D
Sorry for forgetting to capture the batch # :(
http://img.techpowerup.org/110201/07.jpg
I also have that batch with the same OCing capability, not as good as what I have seen of other users' (of different batch) though. I originally bought an L040B305 that OCs up to 5Ghz as well. I thought I would try the B208 just for the heck of it. There was another batch L042B243, which I didn't pick. Now that I know how the B208 OCs, I wonder how the B243 can OC, if it can do it better (or worse) than my two.
The batch # is on your CPU Box. Just type it for us to see.
first test looks good batch l042b074 :yepp:

GiN - silly question but is HT off?
got my 2600k its a L045B021 seems new batch will take some weeks to arrive to my country so i cant test
My L041B204 will be here tomorrow, I cant wait to crank it up.
:)
My 2500k is L049A796. So far I've only tested with 1.3v and its happy to do 4.55GHz. Wouldn't be surprised if it can do that with 1.2v.
Guys, based on what I have had and seen most SB will not bench at 53 - so I would say -so far 54x is very good, not great but still very good.
Most that will not do 51 and 52 will not be reported here.
I'm looking forward to Ivy Bridge. 16nm goodness :yepp: Hopefully those chips will hit 5GHz+ as the norm 24/7 OC :D
Tested 4 2600K, max mp boot windows + bench:
3x L040B165 = 54,54,55
1x L040B690 = 50
Without "Internal PLL" they do:
48,48,50
45
Have used 56 mp on the best one, but only with HT off for now. Hopefully it will do 56 and HT with better cooling.
What does booting into Windows prove? If you'll notice most of the highest overclocks show superpi 1m and 32m runs..period. That's 7 seconds to 6 minutes of stability. Those high overclocks with no stability mean nothing. A chip that will do 5300 and run Linx for an hour and a half means a lot more than 5500 and a super pi run in my opinion.
I used to say the same thing and still think that, but theres a neverending facsanation with insane high CPU clocks.
Pre AVX but if you give them enough juice they can do it.... on air!! if you can boot it!!!

I wish I could run my memory at CAS 7 or even 1T. The Ripjaw-X 8GB kit will do 2133+ but 9-11-9-28 isn't the best timing. I'd love to see a 7-7-7-21 4 GB stick. If it exists, it would be very expensive. The ones I have were only 200.00 for 8 GB. You would think it could do at least 1T, but no boot at 2133 at 1T. I have the Corsair 2000 8-8-8-24 4 GB kits, but in each board I have used them in, they have taken out slot 1 on a FTW3 and Classified 3. Coincedence? I don't think so.
Dumo, try 58x. I have heard it kills the CPU immediately. :)
Nono, Ket will get a 16nm edition....
By god, that boy can write useless shift in threads, its amazing, and start fcuked up threads...
Title: i5-2500K/2600K batch number and o/c results
LETS talk about upcoming processor generation and post faulty information while we are at it....

and for the "buhu" stability crap.... My chip is as stable 1M as Intel Burn, wprime 1024, vantage, and what ever I throw at it....
I can do that, but why on gods green earth would I waste 20 hours running LinX? It would be absolutely useless if it will do that or not....
100 min, max.... I know my cooling solution, it does not increase temperature dramatically...
Check my edit ;) I was thinking of Haswell/Rockwell, Ivy will indeedy be 22nm.
I dont think it will be, too early for 22nm.
Just finished installing my Asus Maximus IV. And without even trying hard, I'm at 5.1 @ 1.38v. Didn't even need to use Intel PPL overvoltage... Changed 2 or 3 settings and i was good to go!
I didn't even tried LinX or Prime, friends were waiting for me to play Borderlands. Played 4 hours in a row at 5.1 without a single problem. That was cool. Then 2 hours of Darksiders. Rock-stable. :) Tomorrow, I will try pushing it.

Anyone overclock an L045 yet? I have had mine sitting here for a week now and haven't bothered with it yet, hopefully I will work up the desire to get it running this weekend. But does anyone else have this batch?
L045 CPU was a replacement I got for my dead L040 CPU :(
Do we have a template here of the basic settings we need to change to get things started? My new cpu doesnt seem to like my last settings.
My new 2600k L042B208 is turning out to be a pretty good chip. 4.8ghz at 1.375V without internal pll overvolt enabled. My 2500k needed 1.41V with the same settings and internal pll overvolt enabled. My new chip does have some strange temp issues. The 3rd core is 8C higher than cores 1 and 2. The 4th core is 6C cooler than cores 1 and 2. Remounted several times.
Thanks I missed that... still I would think that your L040B308 could also do pre-AVX LinX at x53... non-HT. I guess then that x52 is the highest 2600K HT LinX that I've seen. Even if I had one that could do it I'm not sure that I would try. I would prefer to test x50 with lowest volts possible. A 2600K HT at x50 running in the range of 1.30v to 1.325v load ... maybe someday we will see such a sample.
From what I've read, Ivy is going to be 1155 and we might see better than 4/8 on 1155 when Ivy comes along too. Seems to be intel have plans on keeping 1155 around for a while. Z68 will be nice to see, but AFAIK it won't really offer anything significant over P67, just the graphics thing and something to do with storage. Be interesting to see if Z68 will allow the integrated graphics to be used for physics, if it does, I'll probably get a Z68.
Problem is it will be same socket 1155 but u will need a different board have read ivy bridge will not be compatible with P67! Same pin but not for cougar chipset!
Guys, with my P8P67 EVO since cpu change (then bios update) the voltage in TurboV reads much lower than cpu-z, they were very close before but now its like strong LLC is always on. For example TurboV says vcpu is 1.165 (same as default) but its priming at 4500 with cpu-z showing 1.248v, so why is this?
@ PolRoger
Ye the 2600K can run whatever you can cool!!!...
5GHz is sweet with either a 2500 or 2600k & more than enough for daily use.
lol already we need a magic new stepping to get lower voltage :D
Are you guys finding that the higher end motherboards are clocking these better? I dont need all the pcie's that the high end motherboards have, two is plenty, I just want to unleash any potential my cpu might have.
Thanks Splave, so its all in the cpu.... people with good ones are very lucky.
Yep its all in the CPU. Don't get caught up in the manufacturers pissing contest of how many phases a mainboard has. I've seen a 8 phase mobo and a 16 phase mobo clock the exact same CPU to identical speeds. Linky
Anybody know how well a 2500k L049A796 tends to clock? Mine is sitting @ 4.5GHz so far but it seems a tad low.
Is anyone else seeing strange Vcore offset stability issues? If I use manual Vcore mode I can lower the Vcore about .025V compared to when I use the offset mode. I am using extreme LLC in both cases.
Thats probably a UEFI issue. I've used on my Asrock board the shipping UEFI (1.1) 1.3, and 1.5. 1.3 has a little discrepency (sp?) on voltages compared to 1.5 and requires a bit more, but at the same time 1.5 is far more flaky than 1.3. I'll be glad when the chinese new year is over and Asrock get their arses back to work theres a lot to fix with the UEFI.
Guys, when Intel manufacturers these do they test them? Im sure my new 2600K had marks where the socket pins had contacted the cpu before......
My new cpu just wont play the game ..... do I buy a third? .....
Newegg order that arrived 2-1-2011. Running on an ASROCK P67 Pro3 with 1.70 bios. 8GB G.Skill 1600 7-7-7-24 @ 1.60v 1T.

Still hoping for 5Ghz, still working my way up.
I read it here mate! http://www.fudzilla.com/processors/i...th-socket-1155
hello anyone tried to decrease cpu pll ? in some case this has positive effect i lowered it 1.8 to 1.75 and no i dont have bsod bccode 124 no more with 1.45 vcore and 5.2ghz before i wasnt able to boot with 52x multiplier without cpu pll overvoltage now i can boot 52x multiplier without it and its prime stable  maybe try to go 1.7 and if i can lower vcore intel datasheets says cpu pll 1.71-1.89 safe range
5.1 2222Mhz 7-10-10-27 1T Linx Stable 1.375Vcore
http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/2...1010271tst.png
I was not going for tight timing just low vcore 5.1 run! Thats y i left timing at stock! I know theses sticks can do cas 6!
With these settings I was able to bench at 5100 but at 1.5v plus I cant access the multi in TurboV, which of these settings disables OS multi? This new cpu has been disappointing so far.
Any of you guys have a cpu you arent happy with and may want to sell to me? 52x or higher would be nice.
also a interesting read mate
http://www.semiaccurate.com/2010/12/...ry-ivy-bridge/
also ket sandybridge isnt like x58 where cas/trcd etc love tight timings.. even with cas10 on SB you can hit 25read/write
Thats very interesting indeed. I'm not sure why intel would use LPDDR2 though. It would be better to use DDR3, but use less of it and clock it faster. DDR2 always ran pretty damn hot and could get power hungry. If intel have something up their sleeve though to deal with that, then its cool. (no pun intended :p: )
yeah totally confused, cant really say much as to why they would use it .. beats me..
Not only that, but DDR2 also limits configurations, DDR2 could only be used up to a 128bit bus AFAIK, so they would have to use some kind of memory ringbus maybe to get that DDR2 up to 512bit... it just doesn't make sence. DDR3 would be much easier to work with.
That and the fact DDR3 has 4x the bandwidth.. :shakes:
Guys, how many cpus did you go through before you found a really good one?
:)
It all comes down to luck in the end! Cpu lottery!
CPU lottery indeed, shooting for #3 2600k soon.
Try some off company on Amazon, I haven't tryed it yet but I just recived L048A959 just yesterday (02/03/11) (2500k) btw
And well from what I can see the older the better :)
My L049A796 Clocks well (ish) atm. Still having to work with a flaky UEFI but it does 4.5GHz sub 1.3v, probably stable around 1.25v-1.21v. Until the fickle UEFI is sorted out its not very easy pushing further.
Problems with UEFI are just in your head,i managed 5500 with no problem on asrock extreme6 :)
