I've got a v1.0 board, but I get overshoot instead when under load. If I set to 1.4375V, I get about 1.51V under load.
Ok, first Cinebench run, just to get overall feeling for the chip.
Nothing spectacular, but wanted to see 5GHz and if it can run the GTX2's at their rated speed and timings. Yes, it can!
Temperature in the room is 22*C, real voltage under full load was 1.443V.
I have no drop in frequency, but can't install AOD and PSCheck. I should change my bloated OS.
Cooling is PA140.3 with 3x 140mm YateLoon 2300rpm. I'm a little worried about the board though. Not going to push more this night.
I'm happy with the magical 5GHz for now :).
What is the most appropriate way to detect default VID? CoreTemp says 1.275, here's cpu-z report as well. Is it really 1.275V and if yes - what are the chances of getting 8GHz+ validation?

Nice one Ivan! Scary how hot these chips run isn't it? The Crosshair 4 F is a very solid board but it feels a bit flakey with bios 3027 imo. It seems to clock your GTX 2's very well though. Good luck pushing it.
Very encouraging results with the Hypers. I hope we can do 2133 CL7 prime stable...
They were running 2160 7-7-6-20 1T 90ns 1.675V, but didn't wait for the Pi32M to finish, I was eager to try Cinebench, lol.
Memory clocking seems on par with my SB. Not sure what would be the Prime stable frequencies and if I can stabilize them at all.
Not sure if I'm going to do excessive Prime testing any soon. Really worried about the board and will stick to shorter tests for now.
Feels like the chip is torturing it. I don't want to end up with melted power connector :).
I don't think the powerconnector is a common problem for these boards. I pointed the IR thermometer at the connector during heavy load and it didn't get any hotter than the rest of the board.
You just need to make sure the pins on the connector are gripping firmly.
I have it for 3 hours now, so not going to push any further this evening, but expect some competition in CB in the future :D
At least I'm going to try very hard. My score is low as well, but will get higher with a fresh install.
BTW, Zeus, do you have manual voltage adjustment in CH4F bios or it's only offset mode that is available?
Batch is 1142GPM.
I think it had manual voltage as well but it defaults to offset voltage which i hate. I'm not 100% sure cause i might mix things up with my current CVF. It should be in the extreme tweaker menu.
The score is so low...it must be the OS or I'm mising something :(.
Going to rerun it tomorrow with a new os.
Chip didn't scale very much. More voltage was making it worse. Lower clocked memory and Northbridge didn't help either.

mines scoring all over the place LOL 5.06 was a 3.1ghz
then 5.17 at the same clocks.
then just see if i could match the FX 8150 I set 3.6ghz and only scored 5.27 so then I realized something was up.
I had core temp open with the fastest clocking reading setting 100ms.
down clocked to 2.8ghz instead of running 3.6ghz. I tried the AOD trick that work but then it stopped working.
so then I say screw it let me set this 3.6ghz in bios and just for fun I set 2.6ghz NB and left the memory at 1866mhz it score 6.44. :/ i have no been able to repeat it at all.
Hey Ivan, if that is at normal ambient temps it is a nice clocking chip. Max cinebench 11.5 stable i can get at 20ºC is ~5150. The score is a bit odd though but i'm sure you'll work that out. It's not the efficiency of the board, i even think efficiency of the CIVF is a tad better than the CVF.
Good luck pushing bud.
yes, these are great scores, specially,if is it with normal ambients. Il have very hard with aircooling get 5 GHZ in R11.5 think.
The luck you have with chips, I'm sure you'll do fine. Unless you get a chip like mine....:p:
Mine seems to want some "Xtreme" cold.
No, max on 22*C was smth like 5160MHz. This is with 15C ambient. It just doesn't like more voltage.
Dave have awesome chip, 100MHz better than mine. Low score might be a result of using RC Tweakit to monitor temps/voltages.
Will try without it.
This 1,3375 VID FX-8150 overclocks little better than my 1,2625v VID. This is done with about 23c ambient temps and watercooling:
http://i10.aijaa.com/b/00333/9088685.jpg
Nice one Asmola. Looks like 5140-5160MHz is about average for good watercooling and normal ambient temps for these FX chips in this bench.
Ambient temp ~23 celsius degrees and air-cooling:
http://loppmarknader.se/blossas_albu...rmal_CB826.png
Maybe I can do 5080-5100MHz with this ambient temp, but it sure is starting to get hot now. :D Max SP1M is just over 5400MHz.
Well, I found the reason. It was not the ROG Connect, Northbridge or the OS. It was some combination of cpu multi and HTRef.
Tried with lower NB, but the results were still bad. Then dropped the multi and increased HT. The score went up, just where it should be, but as a side effect I was not able to complete CB at 5250.
It kept freezing on the last few or single square on the top left corner.

That's odd. I did not experience any of that with my C4F. Maybe it has something to do with different straps? (internal latency in NB) Freezing at the very last row of squares or even the very last square sounds familiar. How annoying!
It always seem the fastest runs that freeze at the very end. :D

Nice run man, glad you got it sorted out...
That Mem and your IMC are REALLY impressive BTW!
My cores might clock a little better than yours, but my IMC craps out ~2600 and v's over 1.25 don't help (didn't push it farther, scaling stops ~ 1.2125).
Would you mind posting an AIDA mem bench with those mem/IMC clocks?
I'm still getting really wierd #'s on that (especially L2 read), varies between 17000 and 42000, strange....
Yes, same for me about L2. One run is 18k, other run - 48k or whatever it was.
I don't have aida run on those particular settings, but have a screen from the previous Cinebench session.
CPU-NB voltage was 1.29V, vMEM = 1.7V. Didn't try max aida frequencies.
IMC seems above average. Mine needs 1.14V for 2450MHz Prime95 Blend.
http://i.imgur.com/nyb1v.png
Now, when I think about the low scores again...don't remember if I tried lowering mem divider. Needs more investigation, but I don't have time right now.
On a side note, it seems Hypers are running fine on the CHIV. 2000+ 6-6-6-18 should be possible with GTX2's.
@Asmola: Very nice! Just like Eugene said, it seems 5150 - 5160 is where most of the chips top on normal watercooling and ambient temps.
btw, maybe can help added new info in format:
CPU, batch(series), cooling, screenshot

WOW!!!! Magical score on that 8450 FlanK3r...
I knew you had connections, but I didn't think you had access to future chips! :p:
J/K ReKcOlNu, I know it was just a demo, but it would be nice to have such info. If your up for all the work involved.
hehe :D
anyone try setting AOD/taskmanger to realtime priority I'm getting different scores lol
7.04 normal set in taskmanger.
7.14 very high in taskmanger
7.34 realtime set in AOD. it's scarey cause you only see it finish lol
all runs done at 4.4ghz.
yes, priority make sense, sometimes more, sometimes not big differences.
Hey Infra, I know this is a little OT for this thread, but I was testing some new mem tonight and saw the same wierdness with L2 read in AIDA64...
It actually distracted me from my mem clocks for awhile. My instinct suggested it was realated to the HTRef clock (but it wasn't)!
Anyway, I think I've figured it out!
I was getting an L2 read ~17k again. With just a slight bump on Vcore (.0125v) it jumped back up to 45k...
If you see that happen again would you mind trying it (bumping Vcore) and see if it has the same effect on your rig?
Just thought I'd throw it out there for anyone else who may experience it.
I haven't tested to see if it has any real effect on performance or not, it just makes me feel better.... :D
Zeus, I think you are right...
This seems to happen with X6 as well when paired with the new microcode.
I'd been running 2040 CAS 6 but I noticed AIDA performance sucked really bad...I realized my results with Hypers from before were ~1000 MB/s better. Then sometimes, if my OC fails my machine won't boot anymore. I can't get it to boot at all, even after cycling ~20+ times. I cleared CMOS and started over, then I had that 1900 Mhz wall I had before...tried DOCP profile and drive strengths to no avail. Magically I was able to do 2000 again, after OC'ing with DOCP and stock NB multi/CPU multi. Now I'm at the same 2040 and realized my AIDA results are ~700 MB/s higher than they were before with same settings.
Now I have higher performance...without changing anything.
Oh, by the way :D ...just wanted to let everyone know I purchased an FX-8150 (not for performance, Counter-Strike:Source will inevitably run slower) but to play with. I'm selling my 1100T as well and hoping to get a second hand 1090T to replace it soon.

always wonder what is scored.
low clock Mangs cours 8 core
my guess would be this on clocking. TDP with out limits lol
3.0ghz one would score 6.98
4.0ghz would score 9.3
5.0ghz 11.6
did anyone notice mangs cours are prices about 40% higher then interlago's ? O_o ?
Your math is incorrect, double the cpu speed does not mean double the score. :nono:
:)
Maybe for CineBench 12.x, for now just gonna stay with this.

Now i only need some cold weather... :D
I have you listed for a 8150 also at post #602, screen shot here, but post doesn't exist, did you delete it Or did I screw up somewhere?
No i did not delete anything afaik. Just delete the 8.12 of your chart and keep my best FX8150 result. (8.60) I also have a 8.62 result but it doesn't get me a place up so leave the 8.60 result please. ;)
ZEUS:how much voltage foir this crazy NB? Nice... 2700 MHz at NB for R11.5
I think it was 1.3 or 1.31V set with EVO TurboV so in reality closer to 1.33-1.34V with this board's overvolting nature. It still felt pretty stable, in cold conditions more should be possible i think. ;)
Will join u guys soon with a score. Initial run is 7.03 but this puppy still has legs...
Just did a rerun same setting except for higher priority 7.24
Nice score!

https://photos-2.dropbox.com/i/xl/UF...h%204.7ghz.jpg
Where's my score??? I have a score of 11.50 with a AMD 12 core Magny-cours. Its post #502
Its a ES so no model number. Its a single socket G34 setup with 8 gig of ram when tested. Its on air but even with better cooling, I have hit the max for the voltage reg on the mother board so 7 cores at 3.3gig and 5 cores at 3.6gig.
It won't do more...tried up to 1.61v.
PSC are pretty nice...2500 CL7
I really need to get rid of this CPU.
http://img97.imageshack.us/img97/2660/5224cineweb.png
Not bad Beep. Not bad at all.
I'm wondering what temps you got there for ambient.
It tried too tonight, got arond 1ºC ambient tonight but my chip just isn't cutting it.
Here's the very best i could pull off:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...15872small.png
Dave, your chip is so much better dude, you just don't know how lucky you got this time.
No way i will beat that score, not even with temps below zero i think.
I tried up to 1.59V, prett7y scary volts for 32nm but the CPU survived.
Wow, I'll never be able to match that...
I still can't break the 5.0 barrier in normal ambient, nonetheless -4c ambient outside helped a bit.
I'm a little weak to be carrying my rig across the house and outside, 16 year old with weak upper body
1.52v like Dave uses doesn't even post past 5.2 at -4c ambient :/
Subzero will bring more fun to FX
I'll update post when I get home with ss,
Best Ive got yet is FX-6100 4.9Ghz cinebench 11.5 score:6.01
I feel so out gunned buy all of you with FX-8150/20's
I have done my first Cinebench run is this done correct?
I have no clue how to bench it.. the first 20 times the machine froze on my even at stock settings! untill i found out that i just should let it run then the score popped up LoL..

Yes that is ok Riska but the CPU frequency is far too low :D. If this is your super CPU then cranck it up and show us what it can do in Cinebench man.
Barr3l, nice run, seems a good CPU. What ambient temp and what cooling?
It is low on cpu because cinebench froze evry time i pressed run and i clocked the cpu down but realysed that i just have to wait for the run to complete
Wil run again tonight with higher speed
teaser :p

thats fully untweaked (mem,NB etc) just testing the cpu :D
Lol, yes, it starts with a small black square in the middle of the screen.
@Barr3l: Looks a promising CPU if it can do 5.2GHz with such temps!
@RekcOlNu: Thanks for updating the chart man.
@AMDnord: If that is a teaser, i'm looking forward for the one you are about to post!
I have H2O
My water setup is Xspc Raystorm and 11.1mm tube a laing DDC 10w pump with Xspc res/top on it and 2x Xspc RX360 radis in on loop i always have 20-22c in my work room

It's about time we saw a score like this....

What ram is that Flank3r ?
how did you killed it?
RAM are from Froxic, Geil Ewo two and this is "nothing" for this RAM kit...
Barr3l, OBR and froxic set high voltage for boot at my chip and after crash in widnows validation, PC restarted and no post again....(1.8+V in BIOS, Extreme setings, OCP at max, boot at 6900 MHz). But life goes on :)....
Yeah, and if you don't dare to push... :) I think we booted at around 1.8v 7600MHz. (Gigabyte 990FXA-UD7) How about your NB? How high could you go in benches with all cores?
Really nice RAM! :)
Hmm, the Geil EvoTwo looks strong.
Can you guys try pushing 2500 7-11-7 with that kit? I was able to do exactly 2500 7-11-7-27 with my GSkill Pi.
FX4100 Windows 7 64-bit LN2 cooling
http://i262.photobucket.com/albums/i...8-CB11-513.png
Yeah, although the 4100 will keep running run just a little colder than the 8150 did. If I do a normal warm restart it will post at -135/140C or so but in Windows if during a test run if I get the temp below -165C +/- the system locks then after a reset it won’t post until the fluke reads -95C or warmer.
It proceeds something like this during the next post attempt. Temp below -165C +/- the fans run but no video or hard drive activity, next at a temp -130/140C +/- during a post attempt the GPU fan runs at high RPM but no post no video or hard drive activity, lastly at a temp of -95C or warmer it posts normally.
It’s hard to believe that both chips would CB-CBB so I’m wondering if the MB or something else has an issue. I may try it in the AsRock MB to see it the problem persists. That is if I have enough LN2 left to get it cold but if not I don’t plan to buy any more just to find out if it’s the MB.
Oh well it has been interesting none the less.:)
As you said... arround 2500 is "stable" limit for superpi16M 7-11-7 with 1,78V.
It could very well be the MB.
Yeah, my Crosshair IV Formula had about the same problem with a 1090T under dice but the Crosshair IV Extreme ran that 1090T ok under LN2.
The sad part to me is finding a problem right off the bat then wasting a bunch of LN2 trying to find the cause of the problem. I mean I never had the chance to try much of anything. Then when done for the day, sitting here trying to decide whether or not to even post up the sorry bench test results. I guess sometimes one finds the limit a little lower than hoped.:yepp:
On the bright side I think all of the hardware survived.:D
UPDATE
I had enough LN2 to test the 8150 in the AsRock MB this morning. It ran fine @-190 no CB or CBB. So it looks more like this CHV of mine has a problem with the extreme cold rather than these two processors having a CB problem. I really like the CHV to, oh well it runs fine at warmer temps. I had enough LN2 to run a CB10 and 11.5 bench but @clock for clock the AsRock scores were somewhat lower than the CHV? It may be caused by the beatup OS used with the AsRock but I'm not really sure?
It could be that the OS is bloated. It affects CB to some extend. Could be that CHV is more efficient with FX, I don't know.
I've never had problems with my CHIV on dry ice, it had been frozen countless times. However LN2 is a different story. Haven't find a workaround yet.
That's weird...considering chew* ran CHV at AMD events for countless hours above 6 Ghz for gamers...I guess some boards just aren't made the same
