ROFL after seeing everyone's internet speeds I'm starting to think I'm getting ripped off or something, 30 dollars a month for cable internet and thats what I have. Usually when I download something it downloads at the speeds of around 30-50 kbps. Is that really bad for 30 dollars a month?
I present you, the worst connection ever, what mine looks like this weekend, damn, I hate virgin.

who finds the failure in that pic gets a cookie :p:
...tested my connection some days ago and for some reason this speedtest is totally freaking out - dunno the reason (ie7 gives wrong results above 100mbit, ff3 wrong results in the 50-90mbit range). no matter how often i run the speedtest, i'm always getting such erroneus results. some other sites are also giving wrong results, whereas others seem to work, lol.
wish i had such a connection - 200mbit anyone? :D
my real connection is 16mbit down, 1mbit up.

This is what Im getting from my FIOS 20/5. Not bad for FIOS TV/internet/phone for $112 a month here in Garland TX. The TV has over 400 channels with around 100 HD channels too and the Phone is unlimited long distance in the US.

DSL ftl. :(
Hate my ping...it was 35 feet of cat5e or wifi. I went for the cat5e lol.
http://www.speedtest.net/result/383118352.png
152 ms is pretty tough to play games on... though length of cable shouldn't affect it much.
My internet connection is Sprint EVDO Rev. A. It sucks, there's a 5Gb/month usage cap, and it's as expensive as my 6Mb/s Comcast Cable connection I used to have. I'll be running back to Comcast soon though... Days actually.
Here's my Sprint EVDO speed test.
http://www.speedtest.net/result/392612900.png
Hey linux guy that sounds familiar. That is what my parents have at home. The speed isn't too bad for browsing and stuff (and I actually played some COD5 online when I had about 150 ping) but the 5GB cap hurts. I can use 400MB+ easily in one day if I'm not careful, and that is just doing typical stuff on the web. Yuck.
This is my speedtest from school when I'm on wired:
http://www.speedtest.net/result/394794843.png
Not bad huh? :) Too bad they kick me off every morning so I have to reconnect, which is why I tend to be on wireless a lot which is much slower and congested during the day.
From work

My Comcast connection at home is usually a bit slower, even.

TalkTalk 8Mb
wow i just wasted an hour going through all 28 pages and for 27 pages I thought I'd be the fastest speed... For some reason I can't get up over 132.42 upload... no idea why because it's supposed to be 200/200. Maybe that server is capped or something...??
http://www.speedtest.net/result/693473751.png
http://www.speedtest.net/result/695179266.png
http://www.pingtest.net/result/8966345.png
I'd take your connection over the one you quoted any day of the week. The slighly higher download he's getting won't help much, since the server will be the bottleneck. More upload is always nice when trying to seed :)
Not to mention you have a great ping for gaming ;)
how does one acquire global crossing ?? :)
they available in the northwest ??
