You can mod 9800SE's to 9800np/Pro, but the word is they dont run as fast as np/Pro clock for clock.. I'm sure a bios flash could cure that possibly, though :D

ya know... im just waiting for 650/465 in 2k1... but that means a fresh install of win2k... so might be a bit... :(
It was downgraded to "SE" status with 4 pipes closed off and lower clocks because it was an inferior sample off the production line.Quote:

If not, it was only dubbed that to simply fill demand. That is when you get a good clocker for a very low price.
Soulburner - that was already stated, but what I was saying is that even after unlocking the 4 extra pipes it is still held back slightly, or at least that is the word that is going around..
I wouldnt mind one of them actually.. if it hardmoded 100% perfect.. this 9700np just cant do more than 430/345.... but I havent vmoded the ram yet either, so..
9800SE is a value edition of 9800 series. Its running with 4-pipelines in default form. There are cards with 128bit and 256bit mem.
Now the thing is that you can enable the missing 4-pipelines with driverhack and it will become just as fast as a R9800Pro :) Clock to clock equal.
The 9800SE AIW model costs around 200 or so and has VIVO features and TV-Tuner....and gets over 23k in 3dmark2001 aircooled with P4 2.6C. :D
LINK
Same as the 9500np stuff, yes, that was known...
any idea what the chances of it working are?
(4 pipelines to 8 without errors)
nice clocks.. but uh... that nature seems pretty low... or is that the 4-pipes talking?
but with 256 bit ram or that nature would be like 80 ;)
R9800SE AIW + cascade = #1 R9800PRO in the World :D
see ORB for details ;)
with lower mem volts and mem clocks (@360MHz) I was able to push it thru drago hi at 660MHz GPU :toast:
Now if only this card didn't have this silly 3.3ns ram... :D
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7377164
Now that's a fast 9800SE!!
Actually, I got faster results with my 2.4C/P4P800-DX in 3DMark2001 when I raised my Tras to the max (8 in my case).Quote:

That's gawd damn Xtreme Macci! :slobber: more than Opp's XT! ;)
Well.. I wouldn't be suprised if you found a way to "exchange" the RAM or at least make 'em own like your KHX 3000! ;)
Instead of going through all the trouble changing the RAM...
Just swap the GPU's :D.
come on OPP, 5 more marks?
my margin of error between diffrent runs is over 200 marks, so an extra 5 should be easy.....
that was probably OPPs margin of error highly in his favor, he was quite a bit below earlier. nice 9800 score Macci, can your cpu do 4.56GHz which it did during your 9800xt run for near 31k?
I should do a Vcore mod on this IC7 for those clocks.
The RAM clocks (only ~380) on this card are greatly limiting the scores (see drago low and nature FPS - the most mem dependent tests..).
Its possible that the card RAM will go clearly higher with Samsung 'E-Die' bios but so far haven't found one that would work on a AIW card.
Nice SE score Macci :)
OPP
Thanks OPP :)
Great work in MArk03 with the XT. Getting awfully close there :D
Tried Mark2001 at those GPU clocks yet?
btw, seems that the IC7 is generally better platform for OCing video cards than P4C800. I'm getting higher GPU clocks now. It might also be the fact that I lapped the GPU evap, enhanced mounting and useing better insulation now too :D
how high have you gotten that 9800xt so far? I heard right now your aiw 9800se overclocks higher than the xt on the core, LOL
Yea XT can't quite match the SE GPU clocks :D
keep in mind that core clocks matter much more than ram clocks as well, hence why your 9800se is so close to that xt scores despite the fact your cpu was clocked lower when you did the 9800se run!
I'm gunna try the 648 clocks in 2001 today. Last time I couldn't get the CPU to OC worth a crap.Quote:

With any luck I'll get my CPU clocks back today and Make a little history:)
BTW: Hows the SE in 03 benching, top core speed??
OPP
has your cpu lost its ability to do the 3075MHz clock it used to be able to? I notice Macci's p4 lost 100MHz for his 9800se run
my '100MHz loss' was only cos I was running it on IC7 instead of p4C800 and Vcore at 1.88V instead of 1.98V :D
I just wasn't pushing it too hard on that one.
Its useless until I find a way to convert it to XT. XT bios gives a good 200-300 extra on Mark03.Quote:
BTW: Hows the SE in 03 benching, top core speed??
Also when I started to test the SE last time the MArk03 OS was totally dead thanks to some XT benching :D
So I haven't made a single Mark03 run with this card yet.
On XT my Max Drago speed is near my max Mark03 speed thou.
Anyone notice that on the FX-51 if you run the ram at 3.1v+ it adds some heat to the cpu as well? Maybe due to the onboard mem controller??
ok, opp just took 31K
op is havin a dandy old time.
lol, every time Opp clocks a new record ORB slows right down..
is's taking me 10 mins to do a 3dmark'03 search and 5 for a '01.
Guess the news spreads fast...
ps: congrats CC, i doubt he would be there with out your cooling....

no kidding, im still waiting for the search to complete! you mean OPP beat Macci's backup score in 2003 now? I think Macci has another backup, not that it may matter at this point :slobber:
@cc or Opp, why is that '03 score in the pic cc posted not on orb yet, is it a bug?
hm, looks like OPP just may be #1 in both 01 and 03 then. unless macci has another killer backup. :p
this computor only has 128mb of memory, can't upload for 03, op has no conection.Quote:

Thanks.
Several degrees, but some of it may be the change from the leadtek to the Asus.Quote:

2.6=2.6
2.7=2.83v
2.8v=2.93v
atuo+fsb above 220mhz=2.96v vdimm
turbo=2.96v period this all un modded LMFAO..
its only "940" pins guys figure this chip design out already ;)
I tried the 1002.16 bios, but it was locking up in bios before the 19 would.
Great Job guys :toast:
Killer clocks on the GPU there.
Damnit now I need to reinstall WinXP and try again :D
Only got a 9597 there saved :D
200Fps Nature!
Damn, these guys are amazing. They will never run outta ideas and more speed it seems.
OPP benched 03' at the exact same MHz (system) as in 2001, meaning that there should be some more MHz headroom left for the latter. Wonder what kind of backup score he has laying about? :)
Also, by looking at system scores, that install might be showing some age. But what do I know?

yea his last run for 9.5k in 2003 was with his p4 at like 4.05GHz. I know 2003 doesnt really care about cpu speed but running the full 4.56GHz that he did for 2001 is good measure for every last point. isnt it amazing though, OPP is first in 2001 and 2003
"Macci wheres your new 9800xt Its hard to see you without 2-3 boxs of VC's being tried out to fond the best clocker"
He may have already done that. with the 9800se that was just luck and got him 29k
Jason, I think I'll just try and push this one higher :)
Removing the shim should do the trick.
at 2.27V :D
Well OPPs cooling is at the same level if not better than mine :D
But Macci, you live in Scandinavia like me! We have our cold winters! :D
I was wondering how I high your backup was:DQuote:

me too, you owned his backup and im not supprised, its mostly GPU
I tried again. Guess what was my first score?
9622 :D

H3ll...I'm now in free fall, you know that dual/split universe thing! :D ...sorta, in between sunrise and the dark side of the moon.
Here's to the 2 Gods of OC...:toast: :toast: :toast:

well... macci is winning, at slightly lower card clocks.
is it just at the point where it cant get much better, and its just down to "lucky runs", or what?
the race is getting exciting on the 2003 side too! the p4ee has a ever so slight advantage in 2003 ;) but OPP's fx owns in 2001
thats what i was getting at, but i didnt want to say it outright, because i dont know all the other factors in the tests. ;)Quote:

Exactly what SE model is that Macci?
you do realize its hard to read when you do all caps, and bold it, and word it so it isnt even a real sentence...
thats assuming he can get his cpu to 4.56GHz which he had it for his near 31k run and I recall him saying he got a different mobo which has lower voltages so he lost 100MHz on the cpu :(
"Can't wait to see what you 2 can do with the R420 core........do I hear 35,000"
with their eyes closed will they do that, now when they open their eyes........ ;)
Looks like Macci may have retired the EE for this round.
http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7387336
I'm going to a A64 3000 chip myself:D
OPP
Well i know you're the Opp around here (;)), but i remember some time ago, probably around september 23., when Macci had his "Sorrounded by evil AMD-rigs"-signature on his best '01 score... Then he said that it was his "last" Intel run, and we (Intel fanboys :)) all thought that another chap had fell under the shadow of AMD64.. BUT! He was back with Intel in no time ;)
A64 3000+!? Why that? Half cache, single channel ram and lower clock than your FX!
I'll race ya with my 2.6C :DQuote:
I'm going to a A64 3000 chip myself :D
EE runs are pretty much over now. No more benching for me this year. I'm tired :D
Was doing those Mark03 runs 4AM :D
Just posted the Last Mark03 run of the year - 9730 at 657/456
see ORBie for details
no more benching this year? haha this years over in 2 days then bench some more ;)
"A64 3000+!? Why that? Half cache, single channel ram and lower clock than your FX!"
he probably wants to break 30k on an a64. Macci was 9 marks shy of that. however OPP would be better getting the xp3200 cause it has double the cache. and Macci, update that sig ;)
Wow! Congrats macci !Quote:

657 ? Can it get any sicker ?
XP3200 would not have a chance at 30k....Quote:

yea my mistake. both have the 3200+ rating but the a64 3200+ obviously is superior. hes better than the a64 3000 cause with 512kb cache thatll cost him like 500+ marks

The mobile A64 1mb 3000+ is really yammie, if unlocked.
It is like all A64's but only for the lower multipliers. You won't be able to move it from 9 to 10.Quote:

So, no multis over 9 ? A pin trick discovered would be nice. Also softwise...Quote:

no... it has the 10 multi. how else would it get 2ghz?
1mb 3000+ is 1.8, 9x200.
oh, the mobile 3000+, i thought you ment the desktop one.
where can i see the specs on this mobile one. i havnt heard of it before now.
thats A64 overall, not just the mobile version.
i ment like how newegg displays the detials about the processors, like this.
Looks like AMD doesn't have any white papers on the mobile A64 yet, i might be wrong.
yea... they are pretty bad about specs on their own website.
but that link is what i was looking for. thanks. ;)
Alright.
Direct die on these, no heatspreader, plus for some, minus for others, though a tape shim can easily be made. If these can be unlocked i'll get one fast.
the xp3400 with the 11x multi may be better, especially for OPP ;)
Top shape score in 03 Macci:toast:Quote:

I can't get my 3000 working, I think I broke it already, either that or the mobo. I'll let you know when it's up and running and we'll see how she does against the P4 C chips ;)
OPP
when will the 3400+ be out??
Zipzoomfly has em for $440.
yeah, the higher multy may help somwhat.
Probably helps alot. And perhaps these are different steppings which may allow it to hit the clocks the FX will achieve. :)
Up to macci, OPP, etc to find out. :)
jason you would have been better off with the gigabyte.
the shuttle is weak in 3dbenches.i ran test most of last weekend and it was 10fps behind the chaintech and gigabyte.
it runs awsome fsb speeds.i hit 320 ,but even producing higher sandra scores than the chaintech or gigabyte.the 2 beat it out in 3d benches.
i even fixed the ovp on the shuttle but it is just not as agressive on the chipset timing as the other 2 are.
still a awsom board.but the gigabyte will run up to 285 @2.5ldt 5/4 where as the shuttle will have to drop back alot sooner.
Good luck Jason. looking forward to seeing the Overclock on the 3400 chip.
Same goes to you Bowman.
OPP
Bowman--> You say that "the shuttle is weak in 3dbenches." look at this score then http://service.futuremark.com/compare?2k1=7408721 and tell me that the shuttle is weak in 3dbenches.

OPP
I think I'll pick up one of those shuttle boards.
OPP
Wheres the mods for this mobo??

Shuttle mods
Are you going to use teh 3000+ on this or a 3400+?...... what I think would really rock is 300x10 1:1, and if theres someone to do it, it would be you ( or Macci)....... OCZ 3500LE and 4+v might just do it:D
300 1:1 wont be me my friend:D I don't have the mem for it, thanks though.Quote:

I'll be going with the 3000 chip then a 3400 once I get it.
Thanks for the mod link.
OPP
Get the mobile A64 3000 or 3200, 3000 is available i don't know about the 3200. These are naked, no heatspreader.
Will definitely have to get one of those.Onto my OC.:D
well the shuttle i have at the same cpu clocks will hit 500 points behind the gigabyte.its in the chipset timing i believe.
for me the chaintech will run 1:1 the fastest.had that one up to 2950 but it wont bench but at 2850 3d.but i killed that chip last night so ,it starts all over again....
the shuttle is the easiest board i have set up.it runs strong.and loves clockgen.only board i have that clockgen will keep its setting in on reboot.
the gigabyte of mine now wont load windows...so i havent had time to figure that one out.
my 3543 3dmark score owns all of you! you will bow before my mx440 and pentium 1.5!

welcome Aquaman.
Somthing i just noticed, i counted the 2k1 3d mark scores and over half of the first page are owned by Xtreme systems ppl.
My congrats to those of you who make these forums great either by contributing your knolage and/or amazing 3dmark scores to the comunity!
