ASUS 790i
So I had my system set at 4.68Ghz in bios.
1500 with a 12.5 multi
1500/4 * 12.5= 4687.5
When I got to windows it CPU-Z read it as 4.1Ghz and in 3dmark it could tell that it wasn't working like it should...tooo slow
I had the voltage around 1.75 with the NB pretty high I forget now what I had it set on.
I did have a over heat shut down have way thru the 2ed CPU test.
Could my QX9650 throttle down because of the heat?

hey all, im havin a bit of a dilemma with this board, i received my ram on monday and ive been testing it to make sure its all in good working order and everything appears to be working.
ive ran memtest with no errors on my ram (2x2gb ocz EB 1600) and ive tried 2-3 fresh xp installs but when i get into windows whenever i put any kind of load on the system windows freezes up so i cant do anything but it seems to still be working in the background as the clock on my lcd poster is still counting, i cant figure out what the cause of the problem is and ive come to the conclusion that the board is faulty. anyone have any ideas what could be wrong or should i just go ahead and rma the board?
my board came with bios 0402, ive tried flashing 0507 which didnt make any difference 0508 i cant get working in ezflash or in dos and 0511 hasnt made any difference either. im stumped basically any help would be greatly appreciated.
the hardware im using is asus striker II extreme, Q9450, OCZ 2x2GB EB 1600 7-6-6-24 (bios sets timings at 1333mhz 7-7-7-20 1T), and EVGA 9800GX2.
I use the fusion block on my Asus SIIE and have no leaks. I use http://coolerkit.dk/product.asp?prod...&sub=19&page=1 to fasten the tube instead of the crap provided by Asus (I have heard others warning to use the Asus fittings).Quote:

Yes, but this isn't specific to NVIDIA boards. High speed RAM works best in the "black slots" on all Mobos.
For example, the Corsair Dominators 1800 XMP (Intel) ram at the link below states, "Must use sockets DIMM A2 and B2 (”black sockets”) to achieve this performance"

About the Fusionblock on nb. I connected my usual watersetup with 1/2 tubing. It was a hell to stop the leak, when it stopped I leaktested for 24 hours straight, no leak. I started up a new 8800GT and tested some. Went to work and when I got home=dead GT. The leak had started again. I meen, why Asus even bather put this junk on their mobos. Can't be so hard to make a decent waterblock with 1/2 barbs can it? And from what I've seen it's many that had this leakageblocks.

I definatly vote for 1/2" barbs, you can use your 1/2" and if you use 3/8"or smaller you wont loose flowspeed.

I wonder how feasable it would be to just replace the block itself. I really like the Heatpipes and general design I just want my 1/2 Barbs. Is the block really held in by those two screws? If so I bet I could have a block with 1/2 barbs fabbed up to bolt right on there even using the existing screw holes.

Hi getting my SIIE in a a few days its been like 3 years since my last setup and im preaty excited. Was planning on staying on air but with the fusion block on the board and finding someone ditching an old aquarious II for like $20 i was thinking of watercooling the NB with the kit. was wondering if this would work? whats the size of the hoses needed for the fusion block? i know it was on this thread somewhere i read thru it but that was before i thought of watercooling and now i cant seem to find the post that mentiond what its got. all i found was people saying it would have been better if it was a 1/2 barb so im asuming its not a 1/2 :) thanks :)

yeah, sorry to burst your reference board hating bubble but there have been plenty of 550+ benches and my board was 500FSB stable out of the box within 5 minutes of first POST. the board is pretty straight forward and doesn't give much fuss getting up to 500FSB. haven't really tried pushing it yet either as i am working with some memory...8-7-6 clocks are coming up though so we'll soon see what my EVGA board does ;)Quote:

Are you sure it's your board? It could be your CPU or Memory. Read about the degraded affect on the E8x00 CPUs (when they are OCed with lots of voltage going through them). Your CPU may be the culprit.Quote:

hmmmmm reminds me of the striker1... one day a config works... then it doesnt... then changing stuff around but then returning to the same configuration as originally, it suddenly works again. its the same on evga 680, so its the chipset, but on the striker it was way worse than on evga.
i never managed to find out what i had to change to be able to get a config to work again... it all seemed to be very random...
I ran everything at stock, i tried one boot and some small fft with 475fsb and it worked fine for 30 mins, i tried blend and it stopped within a minute, but i returned everything to stock when the board died.....ram was at 1.9v, cpu was at 1.39v, nb was at 1.5, sb was at 1.55v nothing too crazy....i ran these settings for 30 mins of prime95 and returned it to stock and it died...........Quote:

the striker 1 boards went into deeeeep chomas every now and then, most of the time showing cpu init and thats it :D but eventually some of them came back to live... after some time and trying again and again and doing some voodoo dances :D
And not to forget...sometimes you had to remove any power from the board ( that means leave the board alone, with nothing plugged in and with the CMOS battery removed ) for 3-6 hours.Quote:

if you have subzero it is waaaay easier....you just bump the volts and just start from 550 in 5GHz incrememnts (all booting from bios)
i can boot at 611MHz i think it was (~5.8GHz) but FSB isn't stable
charles is perfectly stable at 600MHz FSB with his E8400 chip :shrug:

545*8 is running a single 32M right now *edit* single 32M passed at 545FSB so it looks like i am going to have 545FSB useable on air. now to see if i can get that vCORE down and still do it.

i found that
tRC 18-20 works well
tRFC 48-58 (actually for stability i stick to 56 here)
tWR you can lower in bios but it doesn't do much for spi
tWTR 16-20 works well
tRRD i ran at 3 on last set of tests....
all subtimings combined and bam you got yourself a spi machine hehe
hey btw it is P1=Enabled that is stopping you from going higher in FSB but the trade off is not worth it if you are benching superpi (or you could prove me wrong hehe)
if you are crashing try lower RAM speeds first before anything else as those clocks are pretty amazing 1090 eek

as for the timings...the above were just to try and get 1100MHz, but this kit absolutely does not like tRFC below 65. although i have just been doing dual32M testing and anything near 1200MHz needs tRFC up to 65 for that.
lowered vCORE to 1.525 in BIOS and spit out a 1M at 555FSB so looks like there is a bit more headroom to be had. much thanks for the tip on higher vCORE, would have never tried that. now i really want to get this board under cold to see what it can do...where did i put those 9800GTXs :D

I have problems with high FSB on my xfx 790i (bios P03R2).
I can boot windows at 530fsb and it's stable but 531 not, just freeze during the ide detect.
My cpu can do 575fsb on P5E3 Dlx (and 550fsb stable), maybe limited by the X38 too...
Any ideas ?

Im looking for a 500 2000 fsb on this rig and am kinda new. here is what I got so far but not as stable as I want. this is Crucial Ballistix ddr3 2000 on a new Striker II Extreme I know it can do a lot better than this. If someone could post there bios settings it would be very helpful. also any suggestions. thanks
