noobie question...
where can i change voltages?
^^^
In the extreme tweaker section (2nd Page of Bios)
ive overclocked before... im just not finding it... ill take another look
Make sure you set it to "Manual"
CPU, NB, etc are at very bottom of page.
scroll all the way down.
yeah i got it thanks...
also i set up raid by putting the sata config to raid and using the raid setup with ctrl+l
but in the manual... it says to enable sata bootrom
i couldnt find that either... any help?
should i just run it and not worry?
This 2 SATA bootrom, one Intel (SATA RAID) and one JMicron (SATA/IDE)
Well so much for sending the MB back.
Made a NOOB mistake and through the MB box away.
Well this gives me a chance to correct all the things I found wrong the last time.
As soon as I get it going again I will post the V7600 Bios.
A new BIOS-File is released.
1007
Didnīt try it yet.
There is no change-log.
Tested 1009 bios and i like the new bios.

1007 worked great for me, my previous settings are now 2 hours OCCT stable ... in RAM test.
oh sorry mean bios rev 1007.

Watch out everyone - the 45nm non-extreme quads are coming!
Been considering a Q9550 for my ME but holding off the purchase for a while yet. Want to see what is possible first.
So, come on... what are you waiting for? There's some OC headroom there clearly so turn up the juice and start climbing towards 4.0... show us what this chip can do ;)
i am doing a few tests 1007 is there anyone doing the same?
thanks will carry on then as memory was my problem thanks for the reply:)
 For me still 0904 is best and most stable BIOS:

you and your super CPU , ;)
With most of the bios versions i have used ram is the problem i can run at 6-6-6-20 2T 1600mhz but rated speed is 6-5-5-18 1333mhz which it never does any less than 20 on the last number and will not boot errors ram on lcd poster. I don't really under stand too much about the sub timmings so i leave them on auto . The thing is they are never stable with any bios over 1600 but will boot into windows up to 2000mhz 9-9-9-30. The ram sticks are ocz reapers cooled by a 120mm fan so they dont get hot but no voltage makes them stable any more than ten to fifteen mhz over 1600 at any of the latencies i try. Also not all of the dividers boot/work i have tried 0904 1001 1004 and now using 1007 which stiil seems to be the same even up to 2.1v. I think the ram has more in it as at 1.9v will boot into windows at most reasonable settings 7-7-7-20 1800mhz will boot as will above but not stable. Sorry to go on but i am running out of options is it the ram or is ram a problem for most?
program used for most of the testing it memtest 2.01 iso and orthos short runs on the blend test to verify fail.
Hi guys,
Some information:
The 0904 bios, doesn't read negative temps. Minimium temp read is 7š.:(
Today I updated to 1007 bios and only read at -6š.
Unfortunately, not tried with other bios.
Regards,
anyone had any problems with the Q9450 on this board? fought with it for the last 2 days using the 1004 and 1007 bios...was hanging and rebooting randomly while it kept stressing as stable.... Came home today and it was hard locked...yanked the cpu threw my q6600 back in and had to fight with it for 15 minutes to get it to post finally. the 9450 is on it's way for a replacement with intel and it seems fine with the 6600 back in...maybe just got a crap cpu?
yes BIOS 0904 is best so far way...but i soon test 1007
@camouflage : sexy super cpu:up:
:D I think I'll stay on 0904:

Please, could somebody tell me his settings in the Extreme Tweaker section of the bios? i use a Qx9650, corsair 1800C7DFIN, and its constantly crashing, as soon as i try to set memory higher than 1333, thanks from a noob.
Does anybody know if there is also a way to flash the rampage bios on our maximus ( extreme ) like for the Maximus Formula or the P5E.
I would think that it should have to be the same only that we should use the rampage extreme bios cause of DDR3....
Had to RMA my first Maximus Extreme back to ASUS.
Got another board and got to work trying to get it going.
Found that the Fusion block leaked.
Good thing I use non-conductive coolant or this would have been a giant torch.
In cleaning up the coolant from the board I removed all the heat sinks and found that none of the heat sinks had any thermal tape or paste.
Just bare medal.
Called ASUS and got a second RMA.
Hopefully the third one will finally work.
For you salts you probably know to check everything out on a returned board.
Do not assume that ASUS has even the slightest Quality Assurance.
Check the cooling block for leaks before use.
Remove the heat sinks.
Check all caps and slots for looseness.
i think about RMA too, it seems my board has problem with PCI frequency ... with overclock PCI frequency is not 100MHz and my GeForce dont work and crashes ... it is 100% PCI frequency related, because at 100MHz is system stable many hours, with 110MHz crashed games in few minutes ...
Tested with many GeForces ... the same. Board will go to RMA
I am sure if i set 100MHz PCI at 450MHz FSB ... real PCI clock is not 100MHz but higher and my cards are unstable ...
i tested with 904/1001/1004/1007 - the same result
Are alot of people having problems running Prime or other stress tests for 8+ hours? No matter what I do I can't get this things to run Prime95 for more than 1 hour. Tried endlessly on a bunch of different combos.
Just curious how many others are having this issue??
If you did have this issue but fixed it, some advice would be most MOST appreciated!
Im so tired on my ME.
tested all version from 0904 to 1007
one day i can run memtest+ over 10h and after run OCC.. mixed in 5h next day i can only run OCC.. ~1h or play UT3 ~30min and system auto reboot.
I got rid of this board ... and i'm glad i did ! :)
So ... now i'm back to DDR2 and a nice rampage formula that does 590+ fsb benchable .
After testing 4 Maximus Extreme , 1 Gigabyte X38T-DQ6 , 2 P5E3WS , 2 P5E3 Premium ... i came into the conlcusion that there are no good DDR3 boards (at least for my needs which is high fsb benchable/stable) . 3 months time lost while trying to bench over 550mhz ...
Actually, i got my whole PC pre-configured that way, it runs stable on these settings, but i wanted to run my Rams at DDR3 1800, because they are specified for that, and they were expensive enough. Now they run on very loose timings in DDR3 1333. and i think its wasted money, if the memory cannot run as fast as they could.
@ An00bis :
u should be more precisely. Specify your Sys... so maybe there´s a way we can help you.
Okay, now it's my turn with problems...
Check this:
This morning, I turn on my pc and and everything was fine, boot normaly, start windows, everything without problems.
Now for the afternoon, when I turn on again he start to boot, and freeze in ROG LOGO.
Then, I did a clear cmos, and same problem. Many reset's, many clear cmos, test each stick of ram in all slots, took the battery, turned off all usb devices, ethernet, everything, and the same damn result.
So, I boot many times, and for some reason, it boot. WTF?
I've flashed the bios past week for 1007.
I'm a bit afraid to turn off again my pc:(
Any idea? RMA it?
Best regards,
well i flashed from 1001 to 1004 and it screwed up my RAID array - i can only use the 320GB drives that i had installed. When i built an array of 2x 750GB drives the array fails on restart/shutdown
:) Good news
Well, 4 days later, with some reset's and never stuck again on usbfinal.
But, when i re-installed my x-fi again, in first time BSOD on windows logo, second time BSOD 15 seconds later than windows logo, third time, works normal, with folding, playing and no more BSOD.
I'm tired this BIOS, i will flash back to 904, best bios so far:up:
Regards,
Camouflage.. Bios settings?
I haven't had any issues so far with 1007, seems happy with my small oc, i'm gonna try my 2x 750GB drives again (in RAID0) to see if the array fails again, coz i'm sure flashing from 1001 to 1004 screwed up my ICH9R RAID controller, we will see
Hi all
Are there any PSU's that the Maximus Extreme dosn't like?
I think I read somewhere that the Enermax Galaxy units cause probs.
Well i haven't had ANY issues with my Enermax 1000w Galaxy, i can't speak for anyone else
:D Just did some tests with the 1007 BIOS - better for 45nm chips if You run hi FSB & hi mem frequency.
http://img253.imageshack.us/img253/1...1000mhzov1.jpg
Different sub timings on AUTO & different refresh rate from previous versions.
Clock twister = strong, booster = enabled lvl.2, static read & dyn. write = disabled, tRFC = 82.
I never managed to get 1000MHz on the RAM stable with the 0904 BIOS though it was long time best for me.
Now I'll do some 32M testing.;)
[QUOTE=camouflage;2963343]:D Just did some tests with the 1007 BIOS - better for 45nm chips if You run hi FSB & hi mem frequency.
Better for the 45nm chips... :(
I want a bios that will make my qx6850 stable at 440fsb, f*ck 450fsb i've given up any hope of that ever happening.
I never thought i'd say it but i have given up on this board like a few other people. I swear the board is laughin at me, its definitely got it in for me. All i ever done was feed it with the best hardware i could afford. It just wasn't good enough.
Our relationship is over :D
Bring on the DFI x45-t3r thats what i say. BLOODY HURRY UP DFI!
:D 32M stable @ 1000MHz RAM / 500MHz FSB with BIOS 1007:

:welcome:
tsss...thats just greedy, if only my board would have appreciated me like yours did, ha!:)
I just got my ME from my RMA to Asus
After a nice 3 hour build, includeing a few mins with my room mates GF's hair dryer to get the NB off it booted fine with 803 bios.
after reading here I flashed to 804 and had constant crashes at 3.2ghz on my Q6600 and DDR31600, 7-6-5-15 from Supertalent.
Flashed to 1007 and everything seems find so far, from my place at least 1007 is much better then 804.
[QUOTE=azza21;2965022]Hi, all. New here. Not new to building systems, but, new to flashing bios. Everything was running fine with this board although during boot it wanted a new bios to take full advantage of unrecognized CPU (Q9450). Tried to flash 1007 with Easy Flash 2. Now it will not post. Several questions if someone could help me:
1-What is the most stable bios that will recognize full potential of Q9450?
2-What is the safest way to flash the bios? ASUS said Easy Flash 2 was the safest, but, it failed for me? Why?
3-Why does flashing bios have so many issues? Are we in the 21st century? At the very least they could have a removable bios chip if it had so many issues instead of tearing down my whole rig.
TIA
;) EZ flash only worked up to BIOS 0904. From 0905 to 1004 no go.:(
1007 is working again.
EZ Flash 2 is the utility that is pulled up when you Alt+F2 at post. That is what I did. Are you talking about ASUS Update Utility? Whould I be able to recover my crash if I had used Crash Free Bios 3 utility? Camoflauge, how have you been flashing? Is their a fail safe way to flash, I do not want to tear apart my system and RMA again, that sucks.
Any agreement to what the most stable bios for a Q9450 is? What is exactly happening with the bios that comes with the board? It is Core Duo ready, wants an update to unlock the potential of a Q9450, but it runs a Q9450. Is is only using two of the four cores or something?
Sorry for all the lame questions, I'd be able to figure it out if my board wasn't frozen. Thanks for all the help.
anybody tried a q9450 on this board if so what max fsb, thanks
oh Bios 1007 is good bios from ME now?
thanks Camouflage
Maximus Extreme BIOS Recovery
Rename Maximus Extreme BIOS to EXTREME.ROM and put on USB Flash.
Press and hold the CTRL and HOME keys at the same time.
This will force the system (assuming the 'boot block' isn't corrupted) to access the USB Flash and look for the EXTREME.ROM file.
can someone give me links to the ME0802/ME0803 bios?
If the MB starts its Bios-Recovery you´ll be informed about starting the recovery-process through a message on the monitor.
In fact this recovery-function works very well - I allready used it twice ;)
It isn´t like in those day, when you put your MB-CD in and hoped something will happen - now you can read every little stepp on screen.
Just to say 1007 is best bios i have used i have had some time to test it now and memory performance is up which has been a problem for me + a few others. This wins for me best so far.:D
:D Yep - 1007 best so far, with some work on it I can run 1000MHz @ tRFC 60 now:

ASUS P5E64 WS Evolution BIOS 0301 on ASUS Maximus Extreme.
This some new option in the BIOS
 Nicely done mate - but You know it's a dangerous operation....;)
So You morphed Your ME into P5E64 WS....... - any gain in performance?
Im back to Maximus Extreme BIOS 1007
This some problem with P5E64 WS Evolution on Maximus Extreme
The CPU volt is not right
CPU voltage [Auto] = 1.00xxV
CPU voltage [1,8000] = 1.3800V
Im got the CPU to boot @ 3.6GHz FSB 500MHz
How Flash is done:
AFUDOS /iROMFILE.ROM /PBNC /N
simiri what afudos did you use etc ? When im trying to crossflash from 1007 afudos says uncombitable bios id with current bios id. =(
kindly Regards
still same prob . With both 0905 and 1007'
any ideas ?
Now i could flash but now the comp wont boot. All the led lights and freq. are on in all colors.
I dont know if it's the cpu that can't run with that low voltage or if the mobo is gone?
mobo is gone? no
try to make mobo to start i failsafe mod.
what CPU you use?
The problem is after flash the default CPU volt is 1.00xxV
tried to hold ctrl+home didnt work
e8500
it could boot on the lowest with normal bios but that was quite hard and not that low it was like 1.060
Ctrl+home=Bios-Recovery
You can not use Bios-Recovery to flash back ME bios.
You must use AFUDOS to flash back ME bios.
To hold insert doesn't work etiher
Test to reset bios or try other CPU
Have tried to reset and im asking around with my pals if anyone of them can borrow me one that can do that low voltage.
Im try to find VID pinmode for E8500.
thx pal
do you know the original volt of CPU (1.xxxxV)
on auto it was 1.187
