So I guess I need to decide if I should order another 165 and hope it performs the same as dogsx2's chips or just be happy with 2.8Ghz @ (1.58 Bios / 1.55 Smart Guardian)
Hrmm to sell this chip and try again or not....

You're on air right? Dude 1000mhz OC is awesome. Keep that 165! If you must sell it, i'll buy it.
Opty 165 CCB1E 0550VPMW @ 2.75GHz w/ 1.425v (click to enlarge):

I can get 2.8GHz stable with 1.525v, but I dont think the extra voltage for 50mhz is worth it, at least not with my air cooling.
Couldn't we get a toplist of this? ;)
3.0Ghz @1.63v is what I use 24/7 :D :D I think on WC it probably would do about 2.85~2.90Ghz.Quote:

Going to try to burn it in a bit and lower voltage, but I've already done 8-10 hours of burning at 1.58-1.60 trying to get 2800 prime stable. Safe for 24/7 you think?
anything above 1.6 is dangerous on air, so i wouldnt recommend being that close to 1.6 . also, you should run superPi for stability.
if i was to buy a 170 from either ZZF, monarch, or newegg, what stepping do you guys think i would get for the oem versions and the retail versions? also, if i buy a processor and dont like the stepping can i return it to the place unopened and not have to pay any restocking fee? thanks
I doubt it??Quote:

getting 2800 is not very likely unless you are using non air cooling..ie phase change..water cooling is not doing alot better than good air cooling
i'd won't mind buying 0550 UPMW from anyone that is willing to sell it
2700@1.45v is NOT good for a 0530, and yes, i'm looking to buy a 0550 umpw instead.
looks like the 0550 upmw is THE stepping to get, only seen a few results here but so far they all clock like mad, guess I'll have to bid on it at ebay and see what happen
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO dont bid against me! <---- spoungeQuote:

and your on air its tough to get higher on air for most DC,,, why dont you use that money oyu would spend to get a new opt 170 and get some decent water cooling,,,,??
I am water cooled right now running 2.8ghz opteron 165,,, the lower temps really help,,, I just wish I could get it even colder,,,

if i go up to around 1.53 i cant even prime stable at 2750. and im not paying anything extra, im selling my 0530 for 480 and buying a 0550 with that or lessQuote:

i know i have (had) a dud, thats why im moving on :p
I just ordered 165 from newegg overnight. Will let you all know tuesday if its the 0550 and how it OC's. According to techpowerup the Opti's are goin up in price tomorrow. http://www.techpowerup.com/?8211
Not really, CCB1E 0550VPMW seems to be better (mine at least). foodfightr needs 1.53v for 2.7GHz, my CCB1E 0550VPMW needs only 1.425v for 2.75GHz (306x9). I can do 2.8 stable at 1.525, but I have to place a much larger divider than needed at 2.8 so I keep it at 2.75.Quote:
