Anyone tried the 2101 bios? Does it still throttle?
official bios will always throttle....
Hi Guys My friend just got a P6TD Dlx with his new core i7 which we are planning to overclock... He is got a waterblock and is using a 40 x 40 fan mounted on his NB as you have the option to do that now the reason he is got this mobo is cos he wants to OC so he choose this board cos we thought that it would be cool on the mobo but he is getting like 45 c on the MB temp and 50c on the Cpu according to prove 2, speed fan and bios so I think is too hot?? what do you guys think? not overclocking yet till I know the temps are safe...
It pretty much doesn't matter what the motherboard temperature is. It's not the temperature of your motherboard chipset. The motherboard temperature is taken from a sensor located at the edge of the board (possibly under your video card heat exhaust) in or near the Winbond chip outlined in green as shown in this picture:

I know this because I can spray very cold air directly onto just this one chip and the motherboard temperature will suddenly go way down then slowly back up and the chip heats back up.
BTW, the motherboard chipset on this motherboard appears to stay "cool enough" during overclocking as to not be any sort of impediment.
Thanks astrodanco for your quick response so if the mobo's temperature sensor is underneath the gpu I understand why the temp displays high, do you know where in the board could I find the best sensor to check the NB temp as we will be overclocking quite high..
How high? I'm doing 24/7 overclocking the same board to 4.0 GHz (200*20) and don't have any trouble with either the motherboard chipset or the MOSFETs overheating. I suspect it's a total non-issue, at least at 4.0 GHz.
BTW, I custom water cool my CPU. I do not water cool the MOSFETs or the motherboard chipset. I long ago decided that would be a waste of money and effort (for me). Instead I use the supplied MOSFET fan as well as the recommended added 40mm fan on the chipset heatsink.
Unfortunately I do not know the definitive locations to place temperature probes in order to properly measure the motherboard chipset temperature. I haven't had any stability problems, so I haven't had any incentive to find such locations.
well we are also using a modded water block and we are not overclocking yet the temps on the core are 30 to 40c and the mobo is saying 55c but the north bridge doesn't seem the to be hotter that 35c but am scared that when we oc hopefully pass 4 ghz it will overheat...
by the way anyone has the bios settings for 4 ghz on a 920 core i7 using a P6TD deluxe... thanks

I was talking with Juan Jose from Asus today about the possibility of adding some new features from the publicly available bios versions into an updated version of the special bios for XS users. Are there any issues with the special bios that you would like to see fixed or improved? Does it fully support the Core i7-980X or does it need to be updated for that?
If you have any special requests send me a PM or post some info here and I will pass that info along to Juan Jose and he will forward that directly to the bios teams. They are just looking for some ideas at the moment. Your ideas will help them decide if they should update the special bios or not.

If you have a v2 board then you will need to cross flash using this v1 bios.
Here's the how to manual from Amurtigress:

thanks unclewebb, can you please ask asus bios team to unlock Cpu_Tweaker (MC_CFG_space_Locked) in future bios..
is it better to get the regular deluxe or V2?
Thanks unclewebb, unlocked MC CFG space, 980x support, and hopefully a V2 bios I won't have to crossflash.
I have a problem here.
Updated the BIOS to version 2101 (latest version now), so that the temperature of the i7 920 D0 increased here in idle is the average of 52 50 52 48 C, it's all a Noctua NH-D14.
It turns out that I'm trying to update the BIOS back to the original version of it (I think it was version 0804) and can not in any way.
I do everything right the procedures by Asus Update, but in the moment you click "Flash" to start new update, it will not. A message written that I can not update a BIOS version for an older version that is on my system, that is, I can not update any later as it is I'm using it is the last and strange, because I never had this problem here.

More than the EZ Flash, shows the same message, they said I can not upgrade an older version of the version that is in the system. I also tried the EZ Flash and it's the same problem. Someone had this experience, know how to proceed?
Sorry for my English, I hope you understand something.
Thank you !
yes , just follow the method HERE ..
Any bios for plain P6T that the multiplier does not keep changing with? I have speed step and all that garbage off but mutlti keeps changing wont stay locked with gulf town.
Oh I am using 1201...
hey guys! got the system stable with bclk211 ;)

what do you think about the voltages im using? how much headroom do u think i have?
btw, ram is not properly tuned yet
i see a little black box of love there :D
is it better to get V1 or V2 of this board?
v2 looks to be the better one to get.

still testing 214x19, its linx stable for 10 passes at 5250MB, but unstable at prime95 custom (8k max fft size & 5000MB of RAM)...
the odd thing is that i get a random lock-ups at 3, 4hs of testing... could LLC be causing this?

ok 214bclk was stable for 11hs, then when i was about to shut down prime95 got a BSOD all of a sudden... still don't know wth is wrong lol
in the meantime i tried this:
