This board seems to have lazy cpu voltage delivery compared to my Bloodrage. I run 4.4 24/7 and am running the following voltages:

VDroop: Off (for whatever reason, even though my BR was, it's not stable without it)
VCore: 1.43v
VTT: +200
VDimm: 1.72

Everything else is at stock. I'm 20-pass linpak stable.

I`m also running 4.4ghz on my i7 920 + E762.
Vdroop - Without Vdroop
CPU Voltage - 1.4v
DRAM Voltage - 1.65v
QPI PLL - 1.2v
IOH - 1.15v
CPU VTT - 1.2v
CPU PLL - 1.8v
IOH PLL - 1.8v
NF200 - 1.2v
and all others at default too
It passed 2 hours prime 95 at 1.375v(CPU voltage) but its not linx stable after 4-5 loops it gives me error. Today I decided to try 1.3875v to lower the temps and it passed 10 loops linx with no problem, more testing to come.

Bloodrage is just overshooting vCore.

I have patriot viper extreme 3x2gb 1600mhz ddr3 with cl8 timing
I oced my i7 920 with a e760 to 3.4ghz with vcore of 1.16250v and memory 2:10 1633mhz 812mhz dram frq with timing of 11-11-11-30-88-1T i left the latency at auto but i dunno what numbers to input :P

That makes sense. I never confirmed with a DMM, but there's not really any other solid explanation for it. This board overshoots on VTT and VDimm, so none of them are perfect. Nevertheless, this board is "easier" to clock and has a much more intuitive bios.

I've noticed that in software monitoring it overshoots vtt and vdimm, but is that true when testing with an actual mm? I just got this board, so I haven't yet had the time to test it myself.

BIOS voltage has been pretty close to actual on my 3 classifieds, but yes the software is not close. from what I have seen

Hey guys...is it possible to boot the CF with these high bclks?
My Gigabyte is booting with 224x21 but that's the end of all! No more Mhz but one in superpi1m.
Some guys told me to boot the CF with 220 and raise the bclk up to 230 and so on. Is that true?

Having experience on both Foxconn Bloodrage and Evga 760 boards, which one would you recommend? (for i7 920 on air) (besides the more friendly bios)

Another board I am considering is the Gigabyte UD7.

I know this is a EVGA thread but I would appreciate everyone's honest opinion.

For pure overclocking the Classified is the best. However, if you only want a moderate overclock (< 4.5GHz) then an UD7 or even an UD5 is fine.

I think UD7 is not really good for subzero and memory tweaking, but that's it.
They should be both about as good on air / water.
Don't get Bloodrage.

Ok, so it is down to UD7 and 760. :)

Don't I still need a good motherboard because of the low multiplier of the 920 despite the relatively lower cpu overclock from air cooling? :shrug:

I have the 3x2Gb 1600 Mushkin Redlines Cas:6 with the Core i7 920 on air.
I still need to tweak the mem as much as I can. I have no idea how they will scale.

You won't have problems with bclk on most boards until ~210. So unless you are planning on going over 4.3GHz, I wouldn't worry about picking a board based on bclk.

I'm starting to suspect that some CPUs don't like Bclk higher than 210 !

I am also getting the itch for watercooling, the more I research. :yepp:

I am trying to see if watercooling actually needs a higher multiplier cpu to shine.

May I ask what the bottleneck is with your watercooled setup for example?
You show 4.4GHz at 1.375 volts in your sig. I assume your reported speed is with Turbo enabled with 21 multiplier at single core on that 920.
Probably temperature isn't your constraint at that voltage with watercooling.
210*21=4410Mhz which puts your blck right around the mentioned 210 number. Are you bound by the blck limit of the cpu or the blck limit of the motherboard? (Assuming you owned more than 1 cpu or 1 motherboard)

I am also curious to know which case you are using with your watercooling. :)

I'm only under water, but I don't really think the cost of the upgrade was worth it on this chip and my current cooling. I can elaborate on the various aspects of OCing on both boards though.

Max OC: The Bloodrage OC'd as well as the Classy does on my 920 max clock for max clock.

Max Stable BCLK: The Classified with 61J or 44 is less stable at higher BCLKs than the Bloodrage with the G25 bios. 225 on the BR is linpak stable without any issues. I can only get 222 linpak stable on the Classified.

Memory Clocks: No difference on either board.

Ease of OCing: The classy easily takes the cake on this, especially on memory timings. Seeing what you're currently running on every single timing in the bios makes things MUCH easier.

Power Management: C1E power states are broken once the voltage is increased on the Classified. The clock drops at idle, but the voltage does not. I find it very irritating, and have filed a bug with EVGA about it.

Slot Layout: Triple SLI/Crossfire. Need I say more?

That said, the Classified obviously has much more refined power circuitry and cooling. I'd imagine this will make a bigger difference with 6-core cpus than it does with quads. With Quantum Force dead and buried, I wouldn't jump on a BR at this point. It's a little lame that the Classified undershoots on the BCLK, but +1 fixes that.

The area where watercooling really helps is with temperature. You can really raise the voltages when on water because the temps are lower. Even with a moderately high vcore, I do not go over 75C at 100% load.

My watercooling is not the bottleneck at the moment, I am. :) I have been so busy and tired lately that I have not had time to really push the CPU. I probed around 4.5GHz but I did not test stable at 1.4 vcore, so I backed off until I had more time to tweak the CPU. I can't tell if I have hit a bclk wall or not, but I doubt it since many people have run at 5GHz+ on DICE and LN2.

i would think it be simple to get to 3.8ghz but im having trouble getting my classified to boot at 3.8ghz with a i7 920 d0 chip :S
any thoughts?
