has anyone found a replacement for the chipset cooler ?
has anyone found a replacement for the chipset cooler ?
Also, the benchmarks work fine in Sandra. Just don't try to read anything on the smbus.Quote:

Not stable enough. It'll shift around way too much. Clips are short too...so, you'd have to either bend them or find some other way to mount it.Quote:

or maybe just add a small fan on top of the heatsink ???
i would take the stock heatsink off to apply some as5 but those clips that hook underneath the motherboard scare me
I can boot up to 3.9 on this mobo with air cooling, and this chip needs 1.65v for anything more.

As far as i975x mobos go I think it's great. My second favorite mobo is the P5B deluxe wifi, which is 965.
The stock heatsink comes off in about 5 seconds. Just spread the fins where the black plastic clips hook in and everything will come apart pretty easily.Quote:

and one last question what size fan do u think i could fit on it ? 40mm or 60mm ?
thanks
Thermalright HR-05 fits fine. Just gotta tilt it a little. Damn thing gets pretty warm.
Question for gtj and others...
I overspent on the memory I purchased and am thinking about getting something cheaper. Is this the correct part for the OCZ Plat R2 memory I see in some sigs?

Any issues with this memory at all on the BadAxe 2?
Thanks!

also any pics of the hr05 installed ?
my stock stays cool too but i'm only putting 1.6 through the NB and I've taken off the stock TIM and put AS 5 on (first thing I did when I got the board).Quote:

hmm wondering if i should take it off and put some as5 on it .. or get the hr05
The thing gets hot enough to burn my fingers. I have watercooliong so I'm not sure how it will fit with ur Tuniq. I'll get pics up tonight if I'm not too lazy.
hmm which do i trust
IDCC or CPUZ 1.38 regarding mem
IDCC is reporting my mem at 720 while CPUZ is reporting its running 1:1 at 900 ???
Correct. That's the benefit of the soldered in loops. You can change the HS without removing the MB. Definitely put some AS5 on there.Quote:

Those are the ones. Rock solid for me.Quote:

Here's a few tests from me at 3.8GHz. Once you unearth the 'quirks' with this board, it's a decent performer.

Hmm. I just had my Dominator 8500 memory die on my XBX2 as well. :( I had upped my VMCH up to 1.6 to try and get the memory to run at its rated 1066 speeds and I noticed I started to get a lot of mem related errors in Windows. Setting things back to slower 533 speeds, I was still getting errors in Memtest. It looks like one of my four 1GB modules is shot.Quote:

Running 389x9 at 4:5 with Corsair XMS2 DDR800 at 5-5-5-18 @ 2.2vcore.
Are there any other settings besides upping the vcore that would help stabilizing this RAM? vfsb? vmch?
BX2 has been rock solid since I put it in. ;)
EDIT: Well I just dropped it to a 1:1 memory divider with 4-4-4-12 timing @ 2.0vcore. Performance seems a little worse but it's stable. Guess this RAM just can't handle that high of speed. I was always told Intels prefer frequency rather than timing (hence the reason I was trying for a high latency with loose timing setup).
EDIT: Well, what the hell. It's erroring on stock timing of 5-5-5-18...
I get that same problem with my teamgroup sticks (see sig for specs).Quote:

Here I am now, new board, newest bios, and identical problem. (Yes I have tried older BIOS versions; the memory errors persist.) I just run mine at 379x9 (3.4 GHz) with 1:1 mem settings @ 379.5 MHz, 4-3-3-9, which has kept stable for me.
I intend to swap these sticks, the tankguys.biz guys are pretty cool, but I can't be bothered just yet.
Just letting you know you aren't alone.
It work :banana:Quote:

I make a point of thanking the SETFSB team for their quick answers end their work.
sad sad news! My Storm G5 won't make solid contact with my cpu due to the caps being too high. My load temps skyrocketed to 83 while idle was like 47 at 3.75ghz 1.45vcore. Its a solid board too. Anyone else have waterblock mounting issues?
