I think MicroCenter is full of crap I have talked to Toni a few times and she says they got enough CPU's in to cover back orders but she can't guarantee anything...I think that place is pretty damn shady.

Actually I sent a hate email to them and link to 4 different forums about the newegg gouging. I believe they have represenatives at some of those sites also. They might not see it here but I know they didnt change it for no reason.

You have just proved my point for me. Why do you do $10k of business with a company that you seem to think screws its customers? It must be because they offer an impressive variety of competitively priced products and are reliable about processing and shipping orders.

Newegg is not in business to sell the newest and best computer parts at the lowest possible price. They are in business to make money. Period. The way they make money is by offering the largest selection of products in the industry, having competitive pricing, reliable order processing and prompt shipping. If they sell a few overpriced processors to people willing to pay the premium, power to them. That increases the chance they will be in business in the future, so I can continue to order from them.

My guess is that if Newegg execs read this board, they would charge MORE for their Conroes. They would see posts from people angry about their prices, but they would also see posts from people willing to buy a Pentium, or a Gigabyte Motherboard as a placeholder until what they really want comes out. That kind of person doesn't really mind paying a premium for the newest thing.

If I buy something at Newegg and overpay, that is MY fault for not doing my research, or being too anxious to obtain that holy grail of all processors. Newegg's pricing does not anger me. ClubIT's bait and switch does. Even though I could have gotten an E6600 OEM for $329 delivered, I refused, because they were dishonest, and wouldn't answer my calls and e-mails for over 24 hours. I have done a lot of business with Newegg, probably $5-6k over the last 2 years, and Newegg has never misrepresented an item's "In Stock" status, and has always answered the phone. The one time I RMA'd an item, because something better was released the week I ordered it, I had no problem.

As to the assertion that Newegg alone is responsible for the price of Conroes, I call bull:banana: :banana: :banana: :banana: . Correlation does not imply causation. Next I suppose we'll hear that a Newegg rep was seen on the grassy knoll at JFK's assassination, or that the moon landings were actually videotaped in Newegg's warehouse. The reason for the price of Conroes is economics 101...supply and demand. Lots of geeks with more money than sense want them, and there aren't very many available. I notice that nobody has had any problem selling their Conroes out.

I ordered my 6600 from Micro Center on 08/07 around 4:30 -5pm and then got a back order notice :( But when I woke up this morning (or afternoon lol) I got a nice surprise... a shipping notice AND they stepped it up to Fedex overnight.

I took it. It's about the same as I paid for my 930 a little while back. (and 820even longer ago)

I'll post if it manages to ship today, I kinda doubt it.
