As soon as I touch anything else it hates me. I did at 1 point get the 1st memory option running (I'm using the 2nd option) but I needed to set the ram manually (even though it's the exact same settings as they are automaticaly) and set the ram voltages to something like 2.2v and even then although it got past without DET RAM error, it wouldn't boot, just blue screened. Went backa nd tweaked the rest againa nd again and again but nope, not a single boot out of any of it. :'(
This other thing that concerns me is that I've suddenly got an even bigger v-droop. I put 1.23... v for CPU and it's running 1.92v - it was the 1 below that I'm sure but if I use that it now says 1.16v :(

Haha... swapped my E8400 at 3.91 and running a Q6600 at 3.70Ghz stable.
Quadcore FTW. loving it right now, i was pissed if i was stuck at 3.6 but the chip is doing very well with 1.4875 in the bios with LLC on stable intelburn test 10 runs.

The only problem is you have you GTL refs wrong
X67 for 45nm c2d is to high, x63 is the correct setting.
X67 for the NB will allow lower volts

1207 is the latest BIOS version for Maximus Formula.
Honestly, i recommend flashing to a Rampage Formula. 25-50FPS increases, lower voltages all around and honestly a better running board.
If you DO choose to flash to the rampage, i suggest the 0308 bios as long as your not running an E0 stepping chip. Great memory bandwith and high stability with this bios.

CPU PLL is very high. at the lowest BIOS setting (1.5) it overvolts to 1.6v
So having it at 1.56 is 1.66v and thats really high, danger of burning the chip up quickly.
Im having the same problem as you, i get either a blue screen 0x000000240 or somethin or i get a auto-reboot. now i just solved it and i had to up my vCore. instead of 1.4875 im now at 1.525... damn :(

Sorry, 1.56v in the BIOS so it's probably 1.66ish real. I'm still learning with this chip and BIOS. I think I abused my E6750 too much, but it was my first chip that I ever OC'd so it got slammed hard. Retired it to my LAN cube - I think ~6months @ 4Ghz has served me well :DQuote:

I just ordered another 2x 1Gb set of the tracers as my 2Gb is just not enough (especially noticeable in Crysis), so I'm hoping all 4 sticks will run as fast and stable as just a single set. I just wanted to make sure that the general experience with the tracers is good with the x48 chipset before buying a 2nd set... Cheers!

Yep, exactly. A Crucial rep confirmed this to me and told me that Crucial Balliastix PC8500 are incompatible with X38 motherboards, and gave me a full refund on my Ballistix 4X1GB 8500. After 1 month of using them, I was getting random reboots and alot of problems, without any overclocking! :down:Quote:

Boots fine in Windows. Can run any benchmark, no problems. Can run any game for hours with no trouble at all. Tried relaxing the memory settings, no go. PLL is as high as i would go. FSB Term makes no difference. NB Volts also none.
Any stress test will fail after 5-30 sec: Orthos, OCCT, Prime 95.

Gah, running 4.8Ghz an dit gets fussy... it was booting now it's not, and then it is and then it's not... I think it's just voltage that's the issue though.... tempted to try for 5GHz even just for the screeny (I'm pretty sure I'll never get daily out of it). 48Ghz seems do-able though, not too high - can get it booting ~ 1.45v - was stable at 1.48v but I think I've changed something else like a termination voltage because as I say - it was deffo working just not 100% stress tested.... Will have a play around with it later...
