Yeah,thanks klataa.
BIOS is OK!
So, I had a not so fun and unproductive dry ice session the other day

Ya I agree, but I meant my session was terrible for other reasons mentioned in the thread I linked.
I planned/needed to do several things and had plenty of issues, so overall it was not a very productive session at all for me
Ahh ok, sorry! Wasn't sure what you meant.
Thanks! Ya I was impressed with these memory clocks too, but you know expectations always get the better of you :)
Hi just a quick ? is easytune 6 and smart 6 and dynamic energy saver 2 really any good to install.this is my 3 windows reinstall i could not get it to shut down had to do it manually i think it could be one of these programs messing up my system.Plus stasio thanks for the new f7p bios update its running sweet i cant beleave what a difference it made me reinstalling windows 7 it was about 10 times fast to get to the first option.Plus like the new layout nice one thx.
Is it just me Only grouch i have with my UD7 is the errors about overclocking failed when i start the machine up after a night of it being off. Then i gotta clear error from the MIT page and just save and exit. No problems afterwords .. overclocks are stable and no issues with the settings. Only happens If I restart it and if it's been off for ages .
Sounds like you need to still tinker with settings a bit, it doesn't sound as stable as you think it is because I have never seen this issue at all myself (Even with semi-unstable settings)
Lsdmeasap what setting ajustments would u tinker with here are my settings

@ kullymontana - what are you using for cooling?
980's oc very well due to 32nm but also (in the long run) could be a bit more sensitive to high temps and v's for the same reason.
Looks like one thing NOT to do is to drop down to single cpu, leave all cpu's running - somefolks have instantly broke their 980's doing this.
Intel max v's are vcore and vtt up to 1.4v and cpu pll up to 2v - so you have lots of head room here - provided your cooling can handle it.
also -
CPU Clock Drive-----------------------------------------[700mV] make 900mv
PCI Express Clock Drive----------------------------[700mV] make 900 mv
edit -
Re your memory settings - set you settings manually - Vddq (dram voltage) to 1.66v up to 1.8v if you have sufficient memory cooling.
mem multi at 10x for 200 bclock is good, 8-8-8-24 1T set manually and reduce timings only after you have a solid cpu clock
qpi speed is better at 20 if you can do it - performance should be better vs 16x. This will llikely require you to raise your vtt v.
Also basic question - why 200 bclock - much easier to find max cpu oc if you stress only the cpu.
Maybe take advantage of that unlocked mullti you paid for when you bot the 980?
For 4.2 something like - 30x140.
For 4.3 something like - 30x144
I bench my 980 @ 30x160 quite a bit with no problems (cooling via chilled water).
Thanks for the advice steveRo i am watercooled so do have some headroom regarding heat.I had two 280gtxs in the board so i could not see the post led took the one out.It seems to me the issues im having the mb not posting when i restart is the memory post led stays on c1.i will try your settings and let u know how i get on but getting this memory to run 2000mhz is driving me insane board says it can and corsair says it can so where am i going wrong.
focus on cpu first that is most important - cpu speed is king al others come secondary
big memory speed/tight timings on i7/x58 can increase overall speed in some workloads but - surprisingly - not that many
get your cpu clock solid first then work on memory, vc, storage, ...
well im prime95ing it now at stock settings for cpu and memory @2002 whats it rated to do lets see if it can be stable @stock first then move on to overclocking hey i have put back the bios to f6 to from f7p just to be on the safe side.
Im gonna prime95 it @stock for cpu and stock for memory@2000 dam these chips get hot even @low vcore hey compared to 45nm cpus.

so i guess its ok at stock settings at least we know that now we can play around with o/c
higher cpu speed will always give you better performance regardless of how you get there.
some folks think higher bclock is better because you are ocing more than just the cpu - a larger set of the subsystems are running faster not just the cpu.
Truthfully though, I have not seen any difference in performance between low multi high bclock vs high multi low bclock as long as the result was the same cpu clock.
Maybe others can chime in on this.
I have Rma this board back for a refund nothing but a nightmare to work with .Maybe I got a faulty one anyways I have decided to lean towards the asus rampage 3 hope I have better luck with that one. Thanks for all your surport .
Hey kullymontana, why RMA? Looked like you were making progress above.
Sorry for my late reply! A new board is only going to take you a while to get going too, same as this was, you just need to get used to it is all.
