Ok, now I used SpeedFan and run both CPU fans (60mm and 80mm) at 100%. Dual priming and the CPU temp is ~45C. I also upped the speed to 2600mhz.

Is there a way to tell the computer to set CPU max temp at 50C? Or do I have to use SpeedFan everytime I turn on my computer?

for those who ordered from zipzoomfly.....normally how long did it take for them to ship your cpu? I'd ordered mine on Tuesday at noon and when i checked on the status just now and it only said PACKED, my credit card was charged on Tuesday noon as well.....man looks like I won't be getting it this week....should of order from mwave instead!! This is the first time i dealt with them and looks like it's going to be the last time as well.... :slapass: :slapass: :slapass: :slapass:

It protects the core of the CPU (and spreads heat :p). It's been demonstrated numourous times that you get lower temps and a slightly better overclock removing it. However there have been a couple of dead chips from people not being careful enough as you have to use a fairly sharp razer blade to cut it off.

Last thing I ordered from ZZF was my G15 and they shipped it same day... Got it 2 days later. Had pretty good experiences with em thus far.

congrats on a great CPU........i envy you......would love one but getting them from europe and converting from euro will make me get another mortgage for sure lol

CBBWE 0545 XPMW OPTERON 170

Popped the IHS when water temps sucked. Dropped 8C load! Went from not being able to get 2850 1m to 2950 8m! I crashed on loop 20 of 32m when I ran out of ice :( No fans on the radiator so the water was hot. My setup is playing "don't post for AFI" right now so I'll get pics tomorrow and shoot for 3ghz! I plan to VDD mod my GT SLI and in stall windows XP X64 as well. Friday my 3" mousepot will be back and we will see some 3.3ghz action I hope.

Yup tht is a great CPU, :toast: , looks like 0550UPMW, is looking to have potential :), also both guys are in Europe, waiting for response as to where they bought these CPU's from.

I don't know but I have been running my 165 for two weeks @ 1.64V @ 2800MHz, dual prime more or less around the clock. My temps never
goes above 39 degrees though, water and IHS off.

I haven't had any problems so far.

Bad day yesterday, just get the 165's and come home sick and had to go to bed. Both cpu's are CCBWE 0550UPMW. Put both breifly on the Koolance2 that was already setup. Looks like one is a solid 2800 and the other about 2775. That was very little testing. I don't like to say too much without ss to back it up.

These have the goofy temps on them. Running 1.475x1.10 in bios and the temps come up 46 idle and 49-50 dual prime. LOL I have never taken the IHS off any cpu I've had but I think these would do a whole lot better with them off or off AS5 and back on.

Ben, I have never had any problems with ZZFly on getting the 2 day delivery. I ordered one Sunday night and the other Monday morning and got both Wensday.

Nothing golden here, I'm not sure if 2800 is silver or not. When I have something to show, I'll talk about them then.

cool....finally got the tracking# last night so looks like it's scheduled to deliver on this Friday :D :D I'm curious to see what stepping I got, looks like you've got yourself two very good 165.....put them under the single stager and see what happen, the IHS has got to go.....just take your time to do it and I think it's worthwhile!! :D :D

Just a quick n dirty 32M run using my new G.Skill 2x1GB HZ that seems to be better than I could have hoped for, a bit more left in the 170 too :D :woot:

Sorry to hear you feeling under the weather, but nice results with the CPU's. I see they are also 0550UPMW, definatly looking to be a good stepping :). Get well soon, XS is waiting on your results (well i know i am, LOL:D))

Hell yeah, it seems the duallies are alot more 'productive' then the single cores when they get naked :D. Will be interested to see wht stepping you get. Maybe we will now be seeing FX60 chips being shoved into the Opteron duallie segment, just like they did with the CABNE0530APMW CPU's

What vcore do you have SET in your BIOS? (CPUZ values are not accurate).

Yes I know :)

set in bios 1.475 + 102.4% = 1.51v shown in bios

Vdimm set at 2.68v in bios shows 2.72v

Better put this up before it goes down, again. Seems like every time I have time off work, XS is down.

Did a quick dual prime at 2800 on a koolance. This stepping seems to take more vcore but doesn't get hot. Am going to put the other 165 in the vapo pe and see what it does. Will post back.
