I know this is 975 board but i hope i can achieve orthos stable near what i got with 965 boards (430x8 @ 1.375vcore)

interesting chip... i have a week28 e6400 also, need 1.412 vcore to be stable at 400fsb on my asus p5w :(

using bios 1305... i wonder if on another bios the vcore would be lower....

since the Board is undervolting lil'bit it should be ok this way. My default Vcore is 1,325 but CPu-Z and Everest never showed me more than 1,31V. I only hope for VcoreChanging Option with activated C1E/EIST like the Abit AW9DMax

well i flahsed the bios in windows for the -i dont remember how many time- and will check in the next coming days how the stability etc. is... i was experiencing random crashes with bios 1407 at stable settings when playing flight simulator 9 :/ was orthos stable and could handle hours of bf2 etc... so i went stock, i'm going to see if maybe with this bios i can go back to 3.0ghz on stock volts and 1ghz ddr

1503 seems good to me so far. Just flashed in windows with their update utility.
I can get 400 fsb with my 6700 to boot with less effort than before though still not stable, but it IS better. Boots with 390 fsb for 3.9 Ghz no prob and can bench as did bios 1402

is it really fixed (the boot issue)
so does this make the P5W a contender again in the 975x market? as it wont die on you cause of cold boots?

It is not Bios, it is your chip. Some people get lucky with a good chip and others don't.

Is that 1503 bios official? Don't see it listed on their website...

Apparently from reading some posts it is a BETA. Since I rarely reboot anymore as I believe my max OC on this CPU is achieved for now I think I'm going to wait until it is a final official.

Question, for everyone that updated bios do you lose all your bios settings? Does that reload utility work and load back all the settings? Or should I take my digital camera and picture all my bios settings?

It's a beta bios, so you will not find it on their Web or FTP sites.

If that is the case then how are people using the automatic windows update utility? Does that utility allow people to select the beta bios for windows install?

You should NEVER update your BIOS over the internet. Download the BIOS file and update locally via file.

1503 didn't lock up, but it kept giving me a CMOS checksum error. After two tries to save my parameters, I hit F2 to use defaults. It kept my FSB and RAM settings, but I don't want to hit F2 every reboot so I'm back to 1305.

Didn't try SPD since 4-4-4-12 wasn't overridden, but they still might be encouraging SPD use...

I got a checksum error, but the BIOS flashed to 1503 successfully.

I love this board again! No more dang cold reboots!

I can now quit wanting the P5B D!!

Today is a good day.

I flashed to 1503 and recieved the same error thought I messed up the bios. Powered off system set the jumper to clear cmos with power off; I use the logitech G15 keyboard its usb and had to get my old ps/2 keyboard to get into the bios. Once in the bios I set it up and saved and every thing seems to be working normally. Havent noticed any difference. But I had flashed in hopes I could set may crucial PC2- 8500 dominator ram to 1066mhz no such luck maxes out still at 1010 mhz.

Dont forget to clear cmos with onboard jumper once this is done power up system go into Bios and fix your setting save and exit it should be fine after that. I dont know why the checksum error I never had that show up before.

I find it easier and safer to update bios using the ezbios in the bios itself. Just have to save the new one on a floppy and point it to the bios on the floppy.
